It looks cool but for some reason Luke does everything to shit on this game. Like in previous video he was bashing this game for AI ignoring a player during stealth segment. But had no problem with this AI in Cyberpunk and he was complaining about shitty stealth missions in latest Star wars game because if you was spotted for a frame mission was failed. Many top notch stealth games also have mechanic like "invisibility frames" to not make player mad that he failed because he was clumsy. Also even Hitman and Spliter Cell have situations when player should be heard by the AI but the game ignores it for some reason. Also he was criticizing almost every animation and how colorful game is looking. This is top notch scepticism "There is something off". Then he said that's something is off because "puzzles are not great in modern games". Man you have not a single real puzzle here just fractions of these puzzles showing interactivity. He was grasping for straws to find something to complain. Or that there is a "pause" between actions. Well if you only play fps games then sure in the adventure game you will feel less action in-between fight phases because AI is different. In this game it should be slower to resemble a movie not a FPS game with constant movement. Just look how he had to say that his gun is his best tool not the mind just to take a jab at the presentation

It really doesn’t. Movement is too clean, hand motions arnt jank, and you he graphics in general are leagues ahead of any vr game. Even Alyx looks rough in comparison. Doesn’t look more like vr than any other fps; you just use your hands more than most shooters
I have to completely disagree with you on the Melee combat being worse than uncharted. Yes it looks flashy in uncharted but uncharted is just spam square to hit. In indiana Jones you counter, dodge, interact with objects in the environment, use your whip and more. The impacts look great and the guns feel and sound powerful and real, much unlike uncharted (which i also love but this is too different in my opinion)
This isn't an uncharted game...this is indiana Jones. Thats like saying I love star Trek games but why is this star wars game not have star trek things in it...
It’s definitely not 100% Uncharted, but you have to admit Uncharted is a lot like Indiana Jones. I mean, it definitely has its differences, and I do think that Uncharted is more action-heavy and definitely a cross between Indiana Jones and more James Bond.
I am really stoked for this now. As much as I love Uncharted and TR, I feel that formula has aged now and I was really hoping for a new take. This looks compelling.
Puzzles are always a delicate balance in gaming . I enjoy puzzles that require thought but overly obscure puzzles aren’t my thing . Feel like most people are in a similar bag to myself
Pretty sure they said there will be options to tailor this to your liking. If you want more guidance I believe there is an option to highlight more objects. And I think they said that there's also an option to reduce guidance to little/none at all for the 'purists' who don't want any hand holding.
I guess we arrived at the point in the gaming world close to the end of 2024 that, a game being first person is a "problem". People who shit on a game for this reason should find another hobby perhaps.
What's up with the negativity. This actually looks like a good time for a change. I guess it's good to set expectations to reasonable levels but I mean we don't have to shit on the game based solely on speculation, the same way we shouldn't praise a game based on speculation. I hope this one surprises Luke, I think he could use a bit of that little kid, happy-to-be Indy experience; I know I could!
I do think the skepticism is valid. Big corporations have not exactly released many bangers lately and Disney was especially bad. It's better than being excited about it and then being let down. Also Luke did put out some good points. The transition from first to third person and back to first did look jarring. That whip and fire animation did not look great either. Having said that, I do hope the game turns out to be good because good games are what we really need.
As someone who is rarely ever excited for new releases anymore, I think this game looks very interesting as far as AAA games go. It's honestly what I always wanted Uncharted to be: an adventure game first and a shooter second, instead of Gears set inside ancient tombs. The fact that you get to play this as Indy as well is definitely a nice bonus, on top of that. Still have my qualms about Machine Games after the last few installments of Wolfenstein, but I can't really say I hate what I've seen so far.
The one problem I have with people’s first impressions of this game is that it doesn’t sound like, “authentic,” Indiana Jones stuff. Raiders of The Lost Ark and its sequels BURST onto our screens and changed the face of pop culture in the same way that Star Wars did, with constant ACTION. Explosions, high falls, traps, running, jumping, shooting and so on, were what made the movies such a thrill. I just hope it’s not mainly skulking about in stealth mode? Some stealth, sure. Puzzle solving, absolutely. But most of all, the, “treasures,” are always the McGuffin and not important other than being the reason people are chasing Indie or he’s chasing them. There’s ONE treasure in each movie that unlocks the Deus Ex Machina at the end of the stories. But, if you’re just in the shadows, sneaking around, like some 1930’s prototype for Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher, that would be a huge disappointment. It needs to have at least as much action as the Uncharted games. Even if they don’t have the budget for that scale, they have the resources and (one would hope?) the imagination to put enough action in there to make you, “feel,” like Indie. Using the gun occasionally, but not being, “locked out,” or otherwise prevented from using it. Using the whip is essential. Finding creative ways to solve puzzles is not more important than finding equally creative ways to knock off the bad guys. And you need multiple locations to do all of that in. If you can do things your own way, have a choice between sneaking and guns blazing (except for just a few missions) and have CHOICES about how to get results, then I’ll be glad. It just feels too much like a stealth game from what I’ve seen. And Indie is not a stealth hero. I love Splinter Cell, but Indie is NOT Sam Fisher. He’s an, “action,” hero first and foremost.
This looks great to me, I can't wait to get my hands on it and play myself. I am a huge Indiana Jones fan, but fully admit the series should have died after Last Crusade. The last 2 movies were trash, hoping this brings it back to the old school Indy and it seems like it does.
The game looks great. It's surprisingly very animated versus other Bethesda titles. Hopefully, it doesn't end up like cyberpunk, who's 2018 trailer had greatly exaggerated the game mechanics.
The reason it feels like a vr game is because we are seeing both hands in the frame. One doesn’t have a gun. So we get this “look! You can see both your hands!” “Vr look” that’s rarely seen in FPS games.
Harrison Ford - I want to kill off all of my old characters. No more Star Wars. No more Indy. Disney: So, anyways here's a new video game featuring you as Indy.
I’m a huge Indie fan and big time gamer, looks interesting… they could have went 3rd person rpg route, kind of glad they went a different direction… and Luke, love your content, but anymore you seem to be skeptical just to push the next skeptical look. I guess we will have to wait and see. I’ll be the first one to say if it’s garbage but I think looks good so far!
I think the VR look is intentional, I think the plan is to release a VR version after this one has grabbed the attention of fans. Or it was VR originally, but then they realised it wasn't really working, or that VR is just not covering a wide enough audience. I think that delay in the fighting, when he resets feels like a left over VR design.
They really should have made this fully third person since Indiana Jones is so iconic. Looks really jarring to switch back and forth between first and third.
Well when you've played dungeon crawlers tomb raiders thee uncharted franchises u would expect the new indiana jones games to be 3rd person or as it should be A fuckin 3rd person who wana play ah first person indiana jones game hell naw...and people stop hating or actin ignorant towards one another it someone prefers something to be another its their decision opinion watever !fucks under ya skin mofos aint got suck up shit when u know u know
The first person decision is really weird. It keeps jumping to 3rd person for all sorts of things. They should have committed to one or the other. It breaks the immersion a little every time.
I mean you literally saw 15 minutes of gameplay on it. If you didn’t like the way it looks, I don’t think you’re gonna like the full game then. How are you gonna be proven wrong when they showed everything that the game has to offer
Wow! That actually had a Star Wars feel to the big, “reveal,” there. “He has a brother . . .” hung in the air like dying Yoda’s mention of a, “sisterrrrrr . . .” or Darth’s big, “I AM YOUR FATHER,” bit. Liked that.
There is a piece of me that kinda wishes this was 3rd person, but just because I kinda want to see Indy more. I remember Riddick taking me by surprise and blowing me away. I’m hoping this game is the same!
Game looks kind of dated and I’m not wild about how NPCs slide into place at points and changing from 1st to 3rd person… but the game looked bigger and bigger as the video went on. So many locations and things to do and different gameplay styles from melee to puzzles to shooting to climbing. I’ll absolutely try it.
The fact that you said the game looks dated tells me that you're a gen z. This looks exactly like the original trilogy and that's awesome. I can tell you're young.
@@PopsiCOLE Hey THANKS Cole! I'm 45 but I appreciate people confusing me for being younger - I do have a youthful look. I got a PS5 and XBox Series S now and love them both. I just think THIS game looks a biiiiiiiit dated compared to some other games I've seen. We all have different tastes, but if the game speaks to the fans they intended, again, awesome!
@@firstpersonlooter Yeah, the oldish feeling is because it has an '80s feeling to it. The movies came out in the '80s. The action, The fights, The punches were all 80'sfied. So this game has that same feeling which makes it seem dated. I'm sure that's what it is.
@@PopsiCOLE It’s not so much the fighting animations. When I talked about NPC’s sliding into place I was referring to things like 25:10 when the player sneaks behind the NPC and the NPC literally just slides forward a foot. Like a statue. I assume it was to make room for the take down animation but it was still a glaring distraction for me. On top of the fact that the NPC looks like a statue while approaching too - no idle animations. No swaying or mumbling to himself, scratching an itch, checking his weapon, moving weight from one leg to another, etc. Just… a statue. At 25:11 the baton in the NPC’s hand flips around all crazy like it’s bugging out. Same with 25:35, that NPC looks frozen. 25:53 fistfight looks fine though! I like it! I’m not here to bash the game, I’m absolutely going to play it. I don’t mean to go on and on about the things I didn’t like - just explaining it better since it seems that part was a bit misunderstood.
I figured out what's wrong with this game: It's tied to Indiana Jones universe... If they had created an original IP that was basically an Indy simulator, without the Indy plus his cast of friends and foes, there would be much less to complain about. They could have established that this weird "1st person for the gameplay and 3rd person for the cutscenes/limited movement" is status quo for whatever original IP. People play licensed games because they like the characters involved. If you can't even see Indy for more than half of the game, it defeats the purpose of a licensed Indiana Jones video game....
"I want to play as Indiana Jones in 3rd person." "Okay, we can't do that because it's really expensive and requires a lot of skill and talent to realistically portray in-game, but we can let you play as his floating disembodied hands." 😂
or maybe 'we made amazing first person narrative driven games like Wolfenstein series, thats where our strength lies, so we will make it first person and also avoid comparisons to uncharted or tomb raider'
Look up The Chronicles of Riddick games and the reception those got. They were exactly like this style (made by a studio that consisted of a lot of the people that work on this game). Exactly the same situation here as back then. You have a recognizable actor of a movie franchise and the game is in first person, with certain small contextual moments being in 3rd person. You know what the general reception of those 2 games was? People loved it. In fact, quite a lot of people still want a remake of those games. When those came out, they were one of the few actually great movie tie-in games. And honestly in my opinion very immersive and very well crafted games. At least this feels fresh compared to another Uncharted or Tomb Raider reboot style game... Not saying they are bad games, but they are extremely predictable and very safe in terms of gameplay decisions and as a result have become quite bland in terms of gameplay.
This really looks more like a movie than a game. I wonder how many hours of non playable cuts we will have to sit through. it's gonna be like Hell Blade
Holy are yall really complaining about a licensed game of a movie franchise having a bunch of cutscenes? Ohhh right its not a Sony game where 6 hours of boring cutscenes are applauded and the best thing ever because we all know i bought God of War Ragnarok to see 2 hours of Kratos crying about his wife
Well yeah, why do you want a uncharted clone? If you’re looking for an Uncharted or Tomb Raider style game ask Naughty Dog or Crystal Dynamics to make another one. Machinegames is known for first person and the route they took here does differentiate it to other exploration and archeological games. It’s unique and actually looks really compelling.
Same problem as every other first person action game - depth perception. Am I far enough from the previous swinging axe trap and not too close to the next swinging axe trap? I can't tell as a floating camera.
I have never seen the appealing of the switching to third camera view for three seconds, I just prefer commitment to one fully or the two if you think you need it. But probably someone out there likes it.
My inner child can’t wait to put on Harrison’s hat and do a little globe trotting. Doesn’t have to be perfect, as long as the fan service and overall story quality is there

Interesting that the brotherly energy got Indiana Jones to Bethesda but it didn't go the other way with Fallout going to Disney+. And don't give me any "it's for children" they have Deadpool and wolverine coming to Disney+
about the puzzles in veilguard - the companions only spoil the easy ones that are directly on the path for quest progression. After playing through the whole game I don't think I heard them spoil even one of the loot/secret area puzzles which were for the most part more difficult than the really simple/boring blight boils and elven power crystals. God of War on the other hand, Atreus doesn't care, he will spoil literally any puzzle in front of him.
I’m worried this game isn’t going to perform too well and companies decide to stay away from the IP. A great Indiana Jones game would be so fun but it has to be executed well.
The 1st-person animations for grabbing things and interacting look really bad and canned, which is definitely adding to the VR game vibe. It doesn't look like a natural human motion whenever Indy is doing anything.
One thing I will say, as graphical fidelity has gone up, it feels like cutscene and facial animation has gone backwards. That ue5 uncanny valley look (although I don’t think this is UE5) I swear there was a point in the last generation where we had it right and NPC’s look natural (read dead 2, tlou 1 - 2, death stranding) and except for cyberpunk post patches, I feel like the last 4 years most NPC’s look and move like robots
10:52 it was actually alright, id say it’s worth watching if you’re just having a chill day. I wouldn’t book in a specific day to watch it - if that makes sense
I like the direction that they are going in with this game. The focus on stealth plus fists is very Indy. I hope that the puzzles are more complex than an Uncharted game where they really are just there for flavor but are not any kind of challenge. It seems like that won't be the case here, thankfully. I also like that there is so much activity in the world and ways to get past enemies. It looks like they are really trying to make an Indiana Jones game more than just a typical action game with an Indiana Jone skin.

@@F34RDSoldier805 you’re completely missing the point. These are non-issues at best.
I think it looks great for some reason and this isn’t typically my kind of game, or maybe it is idk. Either way looks interesting to me.
@ I agree with all of that maybe it’s just not for him but that doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with the game. I usually have big complaints with Xbox exclusives and even I think this looks good but most people don’t seem to feel the same way. It is never going to be game of the year material but it should be a good time and I’m glad I will get to use my series x even more after stalker 2

Now I can’t unsee the whole VR angle.
It really doesn’t. Movement is too clean, hand motions arnt jank, and you he graphics in general are leagues ahead of any vr game. Even Alyx looks rough in comparison. Doesn’t look more like vr than any other fps; you just use your hands more than most shooters
I honestly don't see it
@dami4nx it’s just another baseless criticism. They’ll jump on any excuse to tear stuff down
I have to completely disagree with you on the Melee combat being worse than uncharted.
Luke is definitely gonna take a sip of that candle one day.

The existence of that game nullifies all of the criticisms in the first minute of this video. It can totally be done.
Great - now all I can see is a VR game. Thanks Luke!!!
The world's most useless quick sand trap ever
I'm gonna get it on gamepass initially. If i really like it, I'll pay for it just to support the company.
The reason it feels like a vr game is because we are seeing both hands in the frame. One doesn’t have a gun. So we get this “look! You can see both your hands!” “Vr look” that’s rarely seen in FPS games.
Have a strong feeling this is going to get 8 - 9 review scores across the board. Looks right up my alley!
Random question because I love watches. What are you wearing? I can tell it's a dive watch but not what brand.
If you don’t like Indiana jones and want an uncharted clone then I beg you stop making videos on it.
It feels like a vr point and click adventure from this video, with spots of middling combat and stealth.
I think the VR look is intentional, I think the plan is to release a VR version after this one has grabbed the attention of fans. Or it was VR originally, but then they realised it wasn't really working, or that VR is just not covering a wide enough audience. I think that delay in the fighting, when he resets feels like a left over VR design.
the game has excellent german voice acting by the way
They really should have made this fully third person since Indiana Jones is so iconic. Looks really jarring to switch back and forth between first and third.
Is Jack Frags doing the voice over?

Well when you've played dungeon crawlers tomb raiders thee uncharted franchises u would expect the new indiana jones games to be 3rd person or as it should be A fuckin 3rd person who wana play ah first person indiana jones game hell naw...and people stop hating or actin ignorant towards one another it someone prefers something to be another its their decision opinion watever !fucks under ya skin mofos aint got suck up shit when u know u know
Thr first person view is whats gonna hinder this game for me. Also yes Tony Todd died recently.
If only this wasn't first person, I'd be mildly interested but my guts would hate me on every camera turn these days
And also for u people talkin shit to the 3rd person lovers are u gona go buy this crap when it comes out and enjoy it really like really really !?
The first person decision is really weird. It keeps jumping to 3rd person for all sorts of things. They should have committed to one or the other. It breaks the immersion a little every time.
i am not sld on the idea of it being first person view but hope to be proven wrong
I mean you literally saw 15 minutes of gameplay on it. If you didn’t like the way it looks, I don’t think you’re gonna like the full game then. How are you gonna be proven wrong when they showed everything that the game has to offer
I think the hesitation is intentional trying to keep the movie spirit alive
In terms of my gaming age, I had a PS1 in 1999-2002, and then nothing until I got a PS4 in 2020 or so. So... yeah I don't have too much experience with game between those times. I got a PS5 and XBox Series S now and love them both. I just think THIS game looks a biiiiiiiit dated compared to some other games I've seen. Facial animations look pretty good but there's just something overall... old-ish feeling.
But if it looks like an original trilogy game and that's what people want - awesome!
@firstpersonlooter Yeah that's what the enemies did in the movies. Lol.
"I want to play as Indiana Jones in 3rd person."
"Okay, we can't do that because it's really expensive and requires a lot of skill and talent to realistically portray in-game, but we can let you play as his floating disembodied hands." 😂
or maybe 'we made amazing first person narrative driven games like Wolfenstein series, thats where our strength lies, so we will make it first person and also avoid comparisons to uncharted or tomb raider'
@@salmankhan2739 Then they should give it to different devs
@@iannjehia5968 or maybe the game is just not for you
Look up The Chronicles of Riddick games and the reception those got.

Ohhh right its not a Sony game where 6 hours of boring cutscenes are applauded and the best thing ever because we all know i bought God of War Ragnarok to see 2 hours of Kratos crying about his wife
This game is literally based on a movie from over 30 years ago lmao, you guys will just look for anything to complain about.
I feel like this game would be so much better if it was 3rd person. It feels like its first person just to differentiate from Uncharted

Either go 100% first person, or don't go first person at all.
You think they didn't do third-person because it would mean animating Harrison Ford's face more?
I know machine games is famous for first person but I feel like this should have been third person
I have never seen the appealing of the switching to third camera view for three seconds, I just prefer commitment to one fully or the two if you think you need it. But probably someone out there likes it.

about the puzzles in veilguard - the companions only spoil the easy ones that are directly on the path for quest progression.
I think an AC Orgins Indy mod would be better suited for Mr. Jones.
I just looked it up, and Indiana Jones is actually voiced and played by Troy Baker!

I could be totally wrong, but the tech they use to make these dungeons/enviorments could very well be used as a stepping stone for Elder Scrolls VI
Not really. This is ID tech, it looks and runs great, but really isn't designed for large open world sandbox RPGs

I imagine there'll be some more simplistic puzzles for the critical path, and then some much harder optional puzzles?
@@alexlyster3459 That seems likely.
