@@andreadeamon6419Agreed, modern music isn't even real, it's manufactured junk that sounds like it comes in a box, off an assembly line.

@@chrisoakley5830 That's thanks to backing tracks being made by people stringing lines of pre-fabricated musical bars or tracks from a DAW or licensed loops. People are hardly even creating memorable melodies these days with their music tracks; it's just generic sounds to "accompany" an over embellished and auto-tune polished, ubiquitous singing style it would seem.

Love, love, love this track!!! A #1 Pop and #1 R&B hit in 1976. Sold 2.5M singles. (BTW, perhaps the greatest and most distinctive falsetto/soprano voice of that era belonged to Russell Tompkins of the Stylistics, who had a mess of dynamite hits in the mid-'70s, including "Stoned in Love with You" and "Betcha By Golly Wow." And another stellar cheating song from that time was "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul.)

Albeit, transistor radios much of the time, but we didn't know any better, we just loved this music. Of course the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Steppenwolf, Cream and a myriad of others were there too. We never got bored with whatever the next song was on the radio. This is the soundtrack that I still love. Allow me to suggest an artist for your '70's dive: Jeff Beck Group "Ice Cream Cakes" and/or "Sugar Cane" (released in '72). You will not be disappointed. True singing groups are something so many younger folks just know nothing about.
The Manhattan's are one of the best from the Classic Soul era of the '70s and I'm.do glad to have grown up.eith this music.
    Welcome to the party.

Another GREAT 70's song from my high school years. I don't know if I even know another Manhattans song, but this song is one of my all time favorite songs. The song was written by the bass player and was released in 1976.

I just think so much of the older music had a focus on….ability. Can you sing? Bring it. Don’t stand on a stage grind and talk…..sing. Can you sing. Love it. Respect.

The Manhattans are great R&B vocal group who started in the 60's. Their 2 biggest hits are "Kiss & Say Goodbye" & "Shining Star". But they had other good songs such as "There's No Me Without You", "Am I Losing You", "Forever By Your Side", "Just The Lonely Talking Again" etc.

Unfortunately the gentleman singing lead (Gerald Alston) is the only one still with us. Check out Shining Star by the Manhattans , and Do it Baby by the Miracles ( Smokey Robinson's group led by Billy Griffin in matching pink outfits)

There was nothing like seeing The Manhattans in concert. I got to do so twice - in 1976 and 1980. The harmonies, the choreography, and the lead vocals by Gerald Alston (the last living member). Brings back good memories.

The dance moves aren't any funnier than the ones today with backup dancers jumping around all over the place in weird costumes. Every generation looks back at previous ones in amusement because it looks strange to us now.

my dad grew up with most of the Manhattans, as a kid I got to go to Sonny Bivins house, the time I went I remember seeing his gold Album on the wall. This song was one of their biggest songs. The group formed in Jersey City NJ, where I was born, the lead singer is Gerald Alston (Henderson NC) He is the nephew of Shirely Alston Reeves, former lead singer of the Shirelles. He is the only surviving member from the original group.

This is so very awesome. Back in the day the music was so awesome. That's not to say music today is bad, because it is not. There are still some awesome groups out there. I was in high school when this came out LOL! I loved it then and I love it still. By the way you have a beautiful voice. Love your reaction! ♥

You can tell this song is building to something. The string sound is awesome. The mix of voices is special. Each one of these guys could probably crank out hit records in today's music scene. This song reminds me a lot of "I Wish It Would Rain".

I feel so blessed and so lucky to have been a teenager during the 70's. It seemed like every day a new incredible song came out. That musical era has never been duplicated. That is when music was really music and that music continues to make me happy because it brings back so many wonderful memories. All those singers were so blessed to have been given a talent that brought happiness to millions of people around the world.
