McDonald's NEW Game Boy Color Game - Grimace's Birthday

Almost unbelievably, McDonald’s have released a new Game Boy Color game in 2023. Developed by Krool Toys using GB Studio, Grimace’s Birthday is free to play in a browser. While it is a marketing stunt to celebrate Grimace’s 52nd birthday, I do appreciate the surprising amount of effort Krool Toys have put into the development. It’s surprising how involved the gameplay is. Additionally, someone has ripped the GBC ROM from the website and it is compatible with original hardware.

Its like McDonald's saw how Treasure Island Adventure and M.C. Kids are still beloved among retrogamers and thought "Let's give 'em a game starring the McDonaldland mascot who used to have a bunch of arms and was an evil being."

Great vid bud. I tried to explain who this character was to my kids but I just could only explain it away as a "back in my day" thing. It's just listed at my local maccas as a 'Bithday shake' or 'Birthday Coffee'. Non of this Grimace nonsense. I do wish maccas would bring back all its characters....so much easier to explain history when it's not trying to be erased
