    Hi, Lindsay! I can see that in the second setup the strobe that you used is a profoto 1000w. My question is how much power do we need for a shot like this? 300,600,1000w? How much power would be enough in a small studio?

    I'd love to know the power settings and also camera settings when shooting these shots. I am pretty sure its a standard setting for much of these, but im more interested in the power coming from the stobe lights.

    • @lindsayadlerphoto
      @lindsayadlerphoto 4 роки тому +4

      Hi there! My camera settings in the studio are usually ISO 200, F/11, 1/200. The power of the lights depend on the distance of the light, wattage of the strobe, modifiers, etc. So the easy way to do it is to use a light meter to match those settings and then adjust the lights as necessary.

    Hi Lindsay, first off, thank you for all your time and great info you give. Very appreciated. I do have a question, in doing the one shadow look, I gave it a try and I got an extra, little lighter shadow band coming off from the main shadow. Any thoughts why this is happening? Thanks again. Just a very quick question if i may. If you don't know what the models are going to wear for a shoot, what backdrop/colour etc would you pick? Ta!

    • @dedyandrianto
      @dedyandrianto 4 роки тому +1

      You ask the stylist, hows the wardrobe going to be. Planning everything meticulously is the key to successful photo shoot. If for some reason you’re shooting a mystery dress, grey is the most neutral colour that can match any colour.

    • @lindsayadlerphoto
      @lindsayadlerphoto 4 роки тому +3

      I always plan ahead but if not I use fashion grey so I can adjust it with gels or feathering.

    beautiful results and easy setups, but I am not too sure why you wanted to keep the modifier on for your 2nd setup, it's huge and blocked out your bounced back light.

    • @lindsayadlerphoto
      @lindsayadlerphoto 4 роки тому +1

      I've found that when I use a bare bulb I don't get enough ceiling bounce for whatever reason. I've tested it and it seems too work better!

    Would a "Shoot Through" umbrella work as well as the reflective umbrella with a diffuser ?

    • @rickjbradbury
      @rickjbradbury 4 роки тому +1

      Yes but you would have less control unless you flag it from the background or as another option move the light setup and subject further away from the background.
      For the umbrella in to VFlats setup the shoot through would work but you would get reflected light from the back of the shoot through and need to work to control that or any raw light spilling out of the umbrella.

    • @lindsayadlerphoto
      @lindsayadlerphoto 4 роки тому

      Yes just less control of the feather of light.

    The biggest temptation to click on a single light video is a single light. Nobody, literally nobody has the space for flats or flags :/
