You are one of the best photography educators out there today! I've done this technique many times, but never with the light from a lower perspective. GENIUS! Thank you again, Lyndsay.
How funny that with all the modifiers you managed to do magic with a bare bulb! This video is definitely a keeper, and I have been following you for quite some time. Great creativity!
Love it, the shadow on the back added so much to the image and what a simple set up to recreate! Thanks ADORAMA for having a Photographer of the level of Lindsay Adler on your channel.
This lady does an outstanding job at clearly and systematically explaining and demonstrating key ideas to creaate images. I am not at all a fashion photographer, but it is just generally useful to see how she approaches creating the image she wants. The process is really key and more widely applicable than the video title suggests.
You are such an excellent educator. Your love and passion for your craft comes through every word. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. You’re my favorite photographer ever. I’ll be shooting a maternity shoot today and will use this technique towards the end of my session.
I absolutly loved this technique when I was lucky enough to attend your workshop in person. It resulted in my favorite image from the day. Thank you for all of the inspiration and education that you and your team provide! 😊
I'll never get tired of seeing you work and teach. I might say that amongst the portrait and fashion photographers I know and admire (old masters and new), you're the most creative and your work is absolutely marvelous. I'm very glad to be able to see your process and your final work. Truly an inspiration to me. Much love and respect from Brazil, Lindsay! ❤️
I too saw that Albert Watson BTS of him capturing a portrait using 2 bare bulbs and two flags. Same concept Lyndsay always demonstrates, controlling light by adding, subtracting it.🙌🏼 Gorgeous work as always Lindsay.💕
So beautiful! And as you say, "One light and 2 V-flats. It looks simple... when you show us how. Thanks for this video. BTW, thank you for including the script with your videos. For a guy with aging ears it makes it easy to recover when my ears and brain don't connect with some word you have just said. Often it is the name of a piece of equipment or a reference to a person (amazing how C, D, F, G, S, Z, T can all sound the same sometimes through a computer speaker). 😁
Let’s not underestimate the value of: a great looking model, a model that knows how to pose, great makeup, a great hairstyle, and a great outfit. These add tremendously to the final result. I think the lighting here is possibly the smallest piece of the puzzle.
Of course, but that isn't the point of the video. The other elements have a lot to do with it as well. This isn't about "how to create such and such shoot from start to finish" it's just about creating a slice of light. :)
This was the most incredible fashion photography video I’ve ever seen Lindsey these images are so intense and give a lot of power and drama loving the light spread fantastic really enjoyed this one I’ve always wanted to try that look
Ohhhh! I was close, but could never get this quite right because I was not using hard light! Thank you thank you, this is exactly what I was trying to do!
It looks like you also used a strobe/off camera flash from the flashes shown in the video but I didn’t see you mention anything about that in the description. I thought using a flash would take away from the effect used by the consistent lighting.
Thank you Lindsay. I see shadows below her nose and jawline that suggest a light is also coming from above to counter the “monster light” from lighting from below. What am I missing?
How do you get good might on models face since you are lighting from the bottom ? Is there anything above model to bounce light on her face? Or is the bottom light bouncing off the ceiling ?
thanks for this great video! can you tell me how in the final foto (6:11) the model has rembrandtlight in her face while you were using a flash low at the ground?
More images of your results demonstrating what you were talking about would have been very helpful rather than trying to envision what the result should be from your discussion of the subject. A few images at the end but to long after the fact.
@@lindsayadlerphoto 🙂yes made it to the end because it was interesting and informative. I did see the options w the v flats and was just looking, waiting, interested to see results in the images. Funny when you said guess my truck worked you had me there for the moment and I thought then oh that’s why! Thank you for your reply!
Glad this pop up. I want to thank Lindsay, team, and Adorama for great video.
Best moving model I've seen on the screen for a while. ---- Old dance photographer

You illustrated so beautifully that simplicity is the foundation for elegance! Love this!

Saw this done by Albert Watson.. flagging is a very effective control technique and you see what your going to get . Love this kid of stuff.
He's a master for sure.

Wow
Awesome Video but what are the camrea setting?
It looks like you also used a strobe/off camera flash from the flashes shown in the video but I didn’t see you mention anything about that in the description. I thought using a flash would take away from the effect used by the consistent lighting.
Thank you Lindsay. I see shadows below her nose and jawline that suggest a light is also coming from above to counter the “monster light” from lighting from below. What am I missing?
Well, it is a bare bulb, so some errant light is probably also bouncing from the ceiling subtly.
Probably for the closeup it was switched maybe? Or I had her sitting.
V-flat reflector or flag?
Distance of flag from shadow?
❤
Great video. Will this work just as well with flash? Obviously with trial and error as you can’t see the light in real time.
Given that she used flash why wouldn’t it? You did see the Profoto being triggered right?
I assume you mean a speedlite? If so, yes, it just depends on how much power the light has.
@@lindsayadlerphoto Thanks. Yeah, a speedlight or strobe. I have a godox ad200.
