Thanks so much for uploading this video. my daughters VW Polo had exactly this problem I drilled the hole just as you showed and loosened the screw, and the door was released. she was then able to pas her NCT test now all i have to take it all apart to repair the mechanism . cheers
Martin McNamara Hi I’m in the same position to get it through an mot. Were you able to still somehow lock that door still by unscrewing that screw so that it isn’t always able to be opened by an intruder overnight?
@@matthewjones6459 no Matt, I was just trying to my daughters car through the test.it passed ,,but if you want to relock the car I think you would have to put the lock back as it was or get a new lock fitted which is going to be expensive. The car has been unlocked since i drilled it but thankfully hasnt been interfered with yet. I was happy to get it through the test as they had failed it 3 times for stupid things. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but best of luck
Martin McNamara Thanks for the reply Martin, Did you take out the rear seats and the door card off? Or did you take off the seal off and the plastic piece above the tiny window and just drill? It’ll take me a few drills to get it right I just can’t see how to do it with the door card on. When the screw is slackened is it just as simple as opening the door or to you have to flick the latch? Thanks for the reply Martin.
@@matthewjones6459 I took out the seats and got the door seal off .left the door card on .I had to jemmy the card aside a little to be able to drill the door and I use a 6.5 mm drill bit ..if you use the measurements as in the video you will hit the screw spot on .ohh i remember I took the window winder handle off ,I think this allows the door card move aside a little easier good luck
Thank you, this is the best video so far on youtube that explains how everything works on the vw's. I had been strugling with my passat over a week to get the door open. I totally understand now how the locks work and Ive finally got my door open. I almost was thinking about bringing it to a garage...... wouldve cost me at least a couple 100 euros. So thnx again 😉 excellent video!
Can anyone please tell me the purpose of the white plastic bit, which is fastened to the yellowish plastic bit, I need to know because I broke it on my door mechanism whilst trying to fit a new window after someone smashed my old window..
Best video on youtube for this problem with Polo 9n. Especially, that you didnt replace by a new one, but fixed old. Respect. You saved my day!
