    Absolutely brilliant, I watching with great interest as I have now decided to purchase a van rather than a motorhome so I will be planning on using some of your design tips.
    You are both doing a wonderful job and this truly is an epic journey!

    Try recycled plastic bottle insulation, that stuff is like Rockwool and holds water. #RustWillGetYa

      Hey, thanks for watching. It's earthwool which is recycled glass from wickes: www.wickes.co.uk/Knauf-Insulation-Earthwool-Dritherm-Cavity-Slab-37-Standard-100-x-455mm-x-1-2m/p/113735.
      We only chose that because of the in-depth explanations by Greg Virgoe.

      @@AnthAmy lol Greg isn't always right, I'd rather stick with facts and actual video evidence than the word of one man.

      With a vapour barrier no moisture will reach the insulation, even with the backdoors we went to the extreme of foil taping little screw holes. We just got to make sure no moisture can get through. The video we seen earlier has squares cut out of the vapour barrier which defeats the object of having it. No holes or gaps anywhere at all is the plan 👍

  • @AnthAmy

    For insulation we are using kingspan boards and earthwool, we will be adding a vapour barrier where necessary to ensure no moisture can get through to the insulation/panels of the van.

    What's the bolt called to your bed? I have jumper l3 2 I am following you guys ! The bolt you mounted for bed

      Hey, thanks for watching, we use M8 rivnuts for the bed and M8 bolts, hope this helps any more questions just drop a comment👍

      We just got a rivnut tool from amazon which came with m8 sizes, ive just looked on google and heres an image so you know: www.machinemart.co.uk/p/blue-spot-75-piece-m8-rivet-nut-assortment/?da=1&TC=GS-040234612&gclid=Cj0KCQiA2af-BRDzARIsAIVQUOckOwl7h7Vu7YhQ4ktMIsARdSLwXHzpwDHLIG3WBt6dndy1RnZKbjoaAvqwEALw_wcB
      Have a look at those, thats the ones we used, you are best off buying a rivnut gun from amazon with these included and other sizes 👍

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but that insulation isn't great for vehicles, it'll soak up any condensation or water leaks like a sponge and rot your van from the inside out. Here's one vid showing how much water can be soaked up and be left sitting in your van, go to the 2 minute marker : ua-cam.com/video/12dLOYuGDbo/v-deo.html

    • @AnthAmy
      @AnthAmy  4 роки тому

      Hey thanks for watching! It's earthwool as explained in Greg Virgoe's videos. It's not rockwool. This is what we have: www.wickes.co.uk/Knauf-Insulation-Earthwool-Dritherm-Cavity-Slab-37-Standard-100-x-455mm-x-1-2m/p/113735
      I totally understand what you mean though, thanks for helping!
      That is a crazy amount of water soaked up in that video!

    • @fergusmoloney
      @fergusmoloney 4 роки тому

      No idea why anyone thinks the rock wool is any worse than recycled plastic. In both cases they are within a vapour chamber so a leak will result in rust on the inner skin and retained water. The water can’t evaporate or escape in either case if the vapour barrier is done correctly. More important is don’t bodge the roof vents or other axis holes so you don’t get water in the first place. Great work so far guys.

    • @justaguy8223
      @justaguy8223 4 роки тому +4

      @@fergusmoloney Recycled plastic doesn't hold on to water/moisture, recycled glass and rock wool holds on to it. Water can drop down the sides to the drain holes at the bottom of the van sills and drip out. If it's trapped in the rock wool or glass insulation then it'll just sit there and start rusting any nearby metal.

    • @fergusmoloney
      @fergusmoloney 4 роки тому

      Justa Guy hadn’t realized the recycled glass holds water. Good info. Definitely the recycled plastic seems the safest bet.

    • @AnthAmy
      @AnthAmy  4 роки тому

      @@fergusmoloney Yeah, but either way we don't want any moisture reaching the insulation anyway so as long as the vapour barrier is done correctly it's fine.

  • @ReeseAnderson

    That insulation is rock-wool, not good for vans my lovelies. Use recycled plastic insulation x

    • @AnthAmy

      Hey! Thanks for watching, it's earthwool from wickes which is recycled glass. I hope it's the right one? Here: www.wickes.co.uk/Knauf-Insulation-Earthwool-Dritherm-Cavity-Slab-37-Standard-100-x-455mm-x-1-2m/p/113735. Thanks for helping though! :)

    • @ReeseAnderson
      @ReeseAnderson 4 роки тому

      @@AnthAmy Yeah, you need recycled plastic, not the glass. It's basically the same as rock wool which will rust your van out from the inside if you get any leaks or condensation in there.
