John, thanks for creating this video as well as the level 2 version. I just took level 1 and passed; my level 1 expired in September 2020 and I had procrastinated on retaking it. It didn't give me any multiple choice questions, but just 9 scenarios. It took me an hour, working slowly and then I had plenty of time to review it all and submit. I got results saying I passed in just a few minutes after submitting. Your recent notification about the pending change coming September 1st was what made me sign up. Now I'm going to register for my level 2 recert exam. Thanks for all you do!
I just passed the exam! Thank you very much for your tips and all the information you shared!
Hey John, thank you for all the great tips and content, I just sat for the Level 1 exam and passed, thanks a million.
Thank you for this Mr John R. Sowash and the Skill Checklist by Mr Eric Curts is super useful! I've just passed my level 1 exam, Praise the Lord!
My exam includes 12 MCQ and 6 Drag & Drop/Matching for Part 1; for Part 2 I had 10 scenarios (with 1-4 tasks for each scenario). It took me 2 hours to finish it. I'm surprised that they didn't really touched on Gmail, Contacts, Google Groups, Google Chat, Google Meet, Google Tasks, Google Keep, UA-cam, Google Earth, Science Journal, Google Help and Digital Citizenship. (but still, each individual exam is different).
I'm a frequent user of Google Tools but I've learnt so much (in detail) from the trainings and all the online tutorials. Can't wait to go for Level 2! (Hi from Malaysia :))
Hi. Thank You for making such a helpful video. I have been preparing for this for last two months and was not sure of going for it or preparing more but your specific tip that "this is the right time" encouraged me to go for it finally. Your video is helpful to get an idea of exam pattern, time management, exam interface etc. I took the exam today and got my results within just 2-3 hours. And I am a Google Certified Educator Level 1 now 😊 Thank you once again for the video.
Congratulations! That's great! 🎊🎉
Great info! Thanks! I'm level 1 certified but need to take the level 2 test.
I'm releasing my level 2 video next week!
Thanks Mr Sowash Cleared my Level 1 Certification exam today.Completed in 1 hr with review😀
Important update:
The Level 1 certification exam has been updated as of September 1, 2021.
Here are the key changes:
* No scenarios
* All multiple choice
* Only 35 questions
The tips and strategies from this video are still accurate and useful.
I am working on an updated video that will include my thoughts on the updated exam format. Stay tuned!
Only took 40 minutes to complete with the new format. I felt like I must have missed something. Instant results though which is really nice!
Please include specifics on the exam for recertification cases for GCE Level 1 - Recertifcation. Best, KC
@@c8elin15 Was it easy?
Hello! I am taking the test next week and I have been doing a lot of preparation with the scenario questions which I assume is still very helpful since I was not aware of the change, are the multiple choice questions like the ones that were included before like they are a mix of drag and drop and questions that come from the course offered by google or are they different??
They are exactly as you mentioned. 35 questions, multiple choice, very common sense and based on your training.
I took my Level 1 exam today and received my results a few hours later. I passed! Your video encouraged me to take the plunge. It was really just what I do in class on a daily basis. Thanks!
Great job!
Thank you John... I want to take the exam. Have procrastinated for so many months now...
Thank you for reviewing it again
... I will post my results on my channel 😎
Good luck!
Bro can I please know how you paid for the exam?
Just finished my recert exam, and even after viewing your video, I was still freaking out by how short it was, thinking I had missed a section. For my recertification, there were no multiple choice and only 9 scenarios. I was done in 40 minutes. I spent a LOT of time studying and wasn't asked anything I didn't know prior to completing the Google prep course. However I did gain some new info from the course, so it was not a waste of time. I haven't received the results yet, so still hoping I didn't miss a section. I did receive a notice at the beginning of the test stating that it was the short version of the test because it was a recertification, so I would expect someone taking the test for the first time would be given a much longer test.
You won't get the multiple choice section if you are recertifying. Even so, the test is exceptionally short right now!

I would love to take your free exam! I am getting ready to take the exam
There are sample questions in the certification guide on my site.
Thanks for the video it was quite benefical for me! I have a question if I register for the level 1 exam, should I take the exam immediately? How many days do I have to take the exam?
I feel like I should get a gold star or something on my level 1 and level 2 certs now, LOL. A colleague just told me that both of her tests were only multiple choice questions - no scenarios at all - and she could use her notes and the web. She breezed through them in a little over an hour. When I took them, half of my tests were hands on and it took me the entire time to finish them (especially Level 2) with no notes. Doesn't seem fair to those of us who had to really master the apps and the material to get the exact same certifications. I guess at least it will be easier when I need to take them again in a few years.
Yup. It got a lot easier!
I already use most of the G suite products, so I felt pretty confident with the application scenario questions. I was actually suprised how easy it was. Significantly fewer steps required for each scenario compared to example past questions. Will get the results soon hopefully.
How long have you waited for results? It's 2 days now and I'm still waiting
I know it says anywhere between 14days. Was just curious to know what is the average waiting period
@@edwinthijs9494 I'm still waiting for an email confirming that I finished the test. I took it yesterday.
I usually get my exam results in about 4 days.
@@neuksd I thought I was the only one. However, I checked the webassessor and on the my assessment tabs I saw that my results are pass. The thing is, I haven't received a confirmation email that I finished the test, as well as the results.
Hey John, an informative look at the new test format, thank you. What extension/ app are you using for digital inking on your Chromebook, please? I love the sleek look of the interface!
Screencastify!
I wanted to share my experience with you. I had level 1 exam yesterday. It was just 35 multiple choice questions (some required you to mark for example 3 choices out of 6 possible answers and some were like regular multiple choice questions). There were also some drag and drop ones. I passed it But it took me more than 2 hours to submit it. Idk maybe im not very good at these topics but I believe it was not very easy. I’m a PhD student and I think the questions and the whole exam was not standard at all. Assessment should be based on some standard rules and apparently google doesn’t think like that. Anyway… I had to search and go thru the training and watch youtube videos while I was looking for the answers… so don’t take it for granted. It focused more on drive and classroom, assignments, calendar and task and events and also sites. I didn’t see any questions regarding keep. By going thru the training course you can pass it.
I certainly agree that this is not an easy test.
Do you think you were able to finish the exam in 30 minutes because you’re more competent with the content? Or do you feel the exam was easier this year in comparison to previous years?
It was definitely easier. I only received half the number of questions I have received in the past.
thank you
You're welcome! Make sure you watch my 2022 exam video!
I just took my Google Level 1 Educator certification exam last night and I can confirm that the test has been updated. 35 multiple choice/matching questions and open-note! Took me about 45 minutes and that was with double checking every answer.
Hello @Brianna Bakoledis! Is it really allowed to open-note? :)
@@marytestaloy4876 Yes! You can use the internet while you are taking the test. I just opened different google apps to double check things for apps that I don’t frequently use like calendar, meets, etc. If you are a frequent google user you should totally be able to ace the test! Good luck!!
@@MusicbyBriannaB Thank you so much!
How did you know it was open-note? I looked on Google's website, and it looks like to me that we can't use notes. I was just curious!
I looked through the exam FAQ and couldn't find any specific rules discussing the use of reference material during the exam.
Having taken the exam a half-dozen times, I can personally attest that I didn't receive any messages or warnings against using external material during the test. Google doesn't require any kind of secure browser that limits the sites you can visit.
Clearly Google needs to explicitly state their policy related to using external information.
Thank for your input. I did the exam one year ago and failed. I will try it again.
You got this!
Where is your quiz on your website?
Hey John, thanks a lot. Ive downloaded your guide. However, do you have shortly any news on the exam for recertification cases. I know that week by week things are chaning and Im getting ready to render it by the Sept., 28, 2021. Would love any kind update or recommendations. Best, Kristel
The updated exam is only 35 multiple choice questions. The content the exam covers is the same. Only the question format has changed.
I have the Level 2 certificate. Do you think the same trend for faster time, less questions, etc goes for that test as well?
It does not. My level two exam review will be out next week. 👍
Good evening! Thank you for all of this information. If I missed the window period to take my Google Level 1 Educator exam, would that be considered 1 out of the 3 chances that Google will allow me to take the exam? Thank you!
Yes, I believe it does count as a failed attempt. The good news is that Google has relaxed. It's retesting policies so that you can take it one week later and up to five times in a year I believe
Ya cambiaron, a partir del 01 de setiembre pasará a ser sólo opción múltiple.
Hi,
I wasn’t able to access bookmarks during my test, but I submitted it anyway. What confused me was I received a message in the system saying congratulations I passed immediately after submitting? Am I interpreting the message wrong?
Google brought back instant exam results. Congratulations....you passed!
Nice
Just took my recert level 1 exam, it took me one hour, and I passed. It was all multiple choice and drag/drop questions.
Yep, Google re-designed the exam earlier this fall. Time for a new video!
Got the certification guide, but can't find the study guide for the test anywhere on your website :(
The certification guide contains sample questions and study recommendations.
I registered for google exam level 1. I received an email but it doesn’t have my credentials (email and password). What should i do? Help me please.
You should get a second email with your credentials roughly 24 hours after the first.
Hi sir,
I registered for Google educator level 1on 26/12/2021 and i got the receipt mail. But i didn't received the mail for exam. What can i do now.
There should be a link in the email to the support page. You will probably need to submit a support request.
I already passed both exams, but I would like to take your free exam. Where can I find it?. Thanks for all your help
There are sample questions in the certification guide on my site.
Hey John, can you tell me please that is there any negative marking for attempting wrong questions?
Getting a question wrong?
You won't get credit for a correct answer.
The passing score is 80%.
It is better to answer a question wrong than not answer it at all.
@@jrsowash okay thanks 😊
Is Level 1 exam really open book? An email from Google Support is saying that the exam is not open book. Please clarify.
I would like to know too!
Yes, it is open book. A year ago it was not, but Google reversed their policy.
@@jrsowash Is the exam proctored?
Did you happen to Hear about the New Google Meet Update Coming?
Yes. It hasn't rolled out widely yet.
@@jrsowash When do you think it will roll out?
Hi, do you know if the test has been updated? I want to do it this week.
Yes, it has been updated. There are no more scenarios. Only multiple choice questions.
@@jrsowash Good day, Sir @John. I took the test 3 weeks ago and I failed. I would want to try it again. The exam I took has this 35 questions with mixed of multiple choices, drag and drop, moving up and down. They integrated the scenarios in the questions.
May I please have some ideas or if you have a reviewer to share. I would appreciate it very much. Thank you in advance.
Maybe they want lots of people to have their cert / badge so they stay with Google and not Microsoft apps when teaching ?
that might be part of it, but those decisions are usually made a the district level. Teachers have to use whatever platform their school has available.
How to fill the form? Please guide! Thank You in advance.
Which form?
@@jrsowash Google Certification Educator Level 1 form.
Thank You!
Interesting once it is open book
Thanks for the very informative video. By the way, you say this is an open book test, but May I ask where your source for this information is? I can't find any other source.
Is there a way to Register using Debit card or Net banking
Yes. I used a debit card.

YOU HAVE PASSED YOUR EXAM. You will receive your final result in 3 working days.
On completion of test... Does it really mean that I have passed the exam or will there be any further checking to finalize the result?
@@jrsowash hi, can you make a video on how to change Google calendar from arabic to English?
