What a great series Typhoon Week was. Thanks. Never could find the original kit either. Had to wait till 96 to get the re-issue. Not too many Revell 1:32 in the stash (P-47D, F4U, Mosquito, Beaufighter), but I have a couple of these Typhoons!
This is another kit that I built back some time in the 1970s, and one that I was very proud of. I put a lot of effort in the construction and it looked great. Sadly, I don't know what happened to it so i only have my fond memories of it. So many of my models seem to have managed to wander off somewhere.
I built a lot of Revell 1:32 kits in the 1970's . I built the ME-109 G the Hawker Hurricane the Mustang P51-B and the F4U Corsair. I loved those kits. 😊
@CelebratingVintageModelKits yes I loved the artwork. The older kits really came to life with the artwork. Some of them I cut out and put on my wall when I was a kid.
I built the Bf-109G and the Zero in this series. The Zero had some heavy riveting that looked great around the cockpit and wing roots when you put a little silver Rub 'n' Buff on your fingertip and highlighted them. Now that's early 1970's weathering!
@ I got the Baa Baa Blacksheep issues of the Zero and Corsair in the 70s. The Zero kit didn’t look anything like the Zeros in the show! Lol. I started the Corsair but it was too complicated for a 7 year old me. I think they are both still in the stash.
@@johndillon8051 I never built the Zero in that series, I wish I had! And yes using silver lightly dry brushed adds to the wear and tear and brings out surface detail. I use it all the time.
For me its all about Soviet planes and tanks. The Mig-3 and the I-16 are my favorite aircrafts. For tanks its the T-26. Although I do have a big interest in the battles that occurred in the pacific. Keep up the good work!
I remember Military Hobbies, working for General Dynamics I made lots of flights to California. Didn't it have a large image of a B-17 on the building? Also Brookhurst was a very good hobby shop. Thanks for the videos.
@@stuarthanna2417 Yeah they had a large black profile of a B-17 and Tiger Tank painted on the either side of the sign. Remember all the recognition models hanging? Brookhurst still exists. They moved down the street to a bigger place years ago.
@@kittyhawk9707 Wait until I make a separate Beamont video on my collection of him. You will definitely get snookered if you play that game during that vid! I have acquired some of his uniforms and flight gear, personal reports and correspondence on the aircraft he tested with BAC and a few other items. Thanks for watching!
@@CelebratingVintageModelKits yeah he did seem to have quite the career .. looking forward to it :) ... btw the Whirlwind just beat the "Tiffy" in the bubble canopy race .. I think it actually was THE first bubble canopy aircraft in service.
@ Yes, Whirlwind did have a bubble canopy before the Typhoon. You could argue that the Nakajima Ki-27 Nate had one in 1937. I think the Typhoon one was the first completely frameless. A one piece blown hood with no reinforcement.
Other marvellous review with back ground history!! Peter... I'm thinking about unsubscribing and/or taking legal action against you! 😉With your reviews, your turning me into a shopaholic😲☹😲 Just bought Hasegawa 1/48 Typhoon 09548 aka..EK183/USA (No less...WOW) and the book Typhoon And Tempest at War. by Arthur Reed & Roland Beamont. Absolutely loved every uploaded. Thank you so much
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching!
I have the kit, It's a fun build.
One of my favorites!

Great intro about Beamont. What a colorful career he had.
