What with the dramatic decline of insect numbers and this, the bottom of the food chain is dying from the roots up. Make no mistake this is more than a few cute frogs it's a global catastrophe. It threatens amphibians everywhere, it has been found in captive colonies to remote wild colonies. They need help for our own ultimate survival.
Severe Perkinsea Infection also seems to be a problem in the UK now, we've just found it in our area. According to a BBC article it causes very high mortality among tadpoles.
I've heard that artificial frog "saunas," enclosed spaces to help heat them up, can help kill off a fungal infection. We as mammals rarely get fungal infections because of our higher body temperature. However, most amphibians (that I know of) are cold-blooded. By providing them a little bit of shelter to help reflect and trap heat within them, the frogs can basically roast the infection to death. I say more froggie saunas 🐸
I'm torn between "we should save the frog" and let nature take its course. I love frog, don't take me wrong but humanity meddling with nature is what wreck this beautiful blue planet in the first place.
The only thing endangering frogs in my pond is a great blue heron. It eats the frogs, as well as dragonflies and small fish, and for some reason it's "protected." It's just a bottomless flying stomach, eating the creatures that eat mosquitoes, horseflies, and other annoying, possibly disease-carrying insect pests.
I can't believe I need to say this, but maybe leave it to natural selection? Shouldn't the fungus self-control once the amphibian populations collapse?
Awesome channel with awesome content and great quality as always say 🌍💯
Thank you phoebe for this awesome video

Excellent overview of the issue. Thanks phoebe.

very interesting and also sad, but I hope we can do something about it
I think we should call this disease "newt gingrich".
Wow, how ignorant!
I think you're in the wrong class?
It’s a nice subject for the RI because british will get bored to death without the froggies 😉
Nooo! Please save Frogiara! 😭
Has flashbacks..
How can Sicilians be so active in the mafia if they don't have any arms or legs?
So.. humans, ONCE AGAIN?
Poor frogs😢
Oh, those poor frogs...But do not blame the fungus, blame Homo sapiens !
Есть ли у хитридиомицетов естественные враги на планете пожалуйста?Did scientists know natural enemy of chytridiomycosis fungus please?
Did he say frogs are being sent out all over the world for pregnancy tests?
Frogs and tadpoles make THE BEST FISH BAIT! They ALways catch fish.

Right now we need less frogs hopping to conclusions
What do you expect when we use fungus to kill the insects that the frogs eat! Humans are being infected with these fungi as well.
What a shame, frogs are so cute.
Mother earth adapts to what she needs so calm down
We only need to save frogs and all other species on this planet from only one thing and that is humans!

WHAT? (dumbest comment of the day)
This fungus was basically mutated, because of human intervening and invaded unprepared environments!
why should we intervene non human caused extinction
