Lucky Raspberry its fucking midnight right now and i just finished listening to the entirety of buyers market on my iPad in the dark and since autoplay is on this fucking video came up and scared the shit out of me.
this talk is from a show that my friend dennis cooper put on at the pompidou centre a few years back called ‘teenage hallucination,’ which was an art show he curated with the french playwright/choreographer gisele vienne.
I have watched this video upwards of 15-20 times and pull something new from it on every viewing. Great video. I just wish there where more videos of him speaking out there.
It pisses me off when people can not understand that writing about or reading these sort of subjects does not mean you endorse them. There's something about sex crimes that get's to me on a primal level, I'm sure most people when reading the paper will always be drawn to the most depraved headlines, but will never admit it.
He has literally praised Ian Brady for the repeated rape, torture and murder of a child. He fully endorses this shit. But then he gets on stage and whines about possibly being booed. He's fucking pathetic.
@@evemurphy2540 What does a stupid fucking hat have to do with anything? I agree that Sotos is a pretentious paydoughfile but you just want to find any reason you can to disagree.
Exactly! Very well said. Unfortunately they tend to do so: “something something the media; something something hypocrisy; something something visceral and powerful”
Well said! One thing that many authors that interest me have in common is that they do loads and loads of research and pretty much can not stop following the trails further and further, a little bit like Sotos. I learned from some interviews that both Dennis Cooper and Marquerite Duras did the same thing. I guess most of these people know a little bit more about their favourite subjects than other people that are just moderately interested though :D
What you're saying makes absolutely no logical sense. Do you think all people possess the same knowledge? Are you arguing against the reality that there exist people that know of objective truths that you don't, that have ideas that are more rational than yours?
So to summarise this 25-30min video, I think what he's trying to say is that the problem isn't the type of attraction, it's how one deals with the attraction, and that mechanism doesn't change regardless of who you're attracted to be it men, women, adults, or otherwise.
Bit the attraction is problematic in it of itself though that's why it's considerd an anomaly and a mental illness and something that should be contained really. That's why a Pedophile brain is operated differently to what an adult brain would operate.
Which is an invalid argument. The premise is that attractions aren't a problem, when in reality they absolutely can be a problem. If you don't *guard* your thoughts & allow those thoughts to continue unhindered then you are responsible for those thoughts.
Ron Superior Content/trigger warnings are important, and I think that bit at the beginning shows that he doesn't endorse what he's writing about and just has a very odd fascination
I think that he was more advising any casual audience members who aren't familiar with his work to leave. After all these years, I'm sure that Sotos is familiar with the kind of adverse reactions that his writing can bring out in some readers. Plus, he himself has said that the primary audience for his material is himself, and he is more trying to make sense of his own weird autistic thoughts than trying to produce writing that will be entertaining, or even palatable, to others.
@@roy_for_real2674 I mean maybe I'm wrong but from what I've heard and gathered he's a moralist who hates himself. But maybe it's all jumble to look over the fact that he likes writing about little girls being raped and killed... who knows.
"I don't think you need to see this." He's not an egomaniac, whatever provocative bone in his body was left probably died out around the same time as his arrest. Pure had a lot of racism and praise of systematic murder and child murder fetishism in it, he was young back then. Steve albini was in Rapeman and Big Black before Shellac. Ugliness hits a target in the soul like shotgun spreads. intricacy, which is what I feel he has refined himself to have, is just as, if not more, effective.
It's really interesting how he said all that bullshit about being an all mighty "sadist" in Apocalypse Culture plus a child porn conviction he could've easily avoided if he wasn't so morbidly curious/fucked in the head and then he complains about being "really lonely 😭💔" What the fuck did he expect. Anyways, him and his true intentions are an absolute enigma to me.
This actually starts to make some sort of sense after about five listens. I'm not joking either. Try again. Sotos's trajectory as a writer has been fascinating..
