  • The fourth and final Ayahuasca ceremony, ending this first part of my journey with the plant medicine. This ceremony was all about love and was very different to the preceding three in tone, imagery, content and meaning. I got to walk into memories and relationships past, which was an experience I continue to treasure. I also reflect on the jarring shift from the Amazon back to everyday life... It's not easy.
Inspired by the stories of many people who have drunk Ayahuasca to learn more about themselves and to seek physical and spiritual healing in the (often very tough) process, I booked a 10-day retreat in Peru, in the Amazon, to follow in their footsteps. After recording videos every 4 weeks in the run-up, I made several more during the retreat itself which I'll upload (now I have decent internet again) to document how things unfolded.
Send me your questions - about the trip, me, Ayahuasca itself, etc. - and I'll do my best to answer as many as possible.
This is an intensely personal journey, and I'm going to lay it all out in the open here. I want to share this journey with other people, whether they're considering drinking Ayahuasca, have done so already, who feel the same kinds of emptiness and negativity that I do, or who just want to see the journey of someone before and after this intense experience.
This was principally recorded for London Real (www.londonreal.tv) and the London Real Academy (londonrealacade...), so do check out that inspiring podcast and new, exciting social community dedicated to helping you 'Build the Best You'.

Thank you for giving your honest and unfiltered experience. What you did was incredible taking this on and not sugar coating it in any way. Some of the things you said really resonated with me, especially when you looked at yourself in the mirror and the things you thought and said. I think you are really brave and hope you continue to maintain a positive outlook for your future. I don't think the experience will fade or leave you as you don't want it to. What you felt was incredibly real and profound and I really hope to have an experience like it when the time is right in my life.

+Bethany Baron Thanks so much for getting in touch and for the kind words - I really appreciate it. As the next part of the series touches on, things didn't stay quite so rosy... I'm struggling with intense depression (and will put some stuff up about it, to continue the 'not sugar-coating'!), but hearing that by sharing these experiences I can have even the smallest positive impact on other people helps. Thank you again :)

Wow, looks like the medicine really helped you. The great promise of psychedelics in general, and ayahuasca in particular, is that they can show you the immense, untapped store of love inside all of us. Your story is quite inspiring. Thanks again for all your videos.

+James Pettigrew Thanks for the support and continuing to watch, James - I appreciate it! We'll have to see what it all looks like in a few weeks' time, after being back in mainstream reality for a while... but some things, I think, can't be taken back once they've been given.

I've spent the last couple hours watching all your videos and I have to say I can see your transformation! You appear to be a bit more sure of yourself. Thank you for putting this out there. I'm trying to build the courage to meet Mother Ayahuasca myself and hearing your story was so inspiring. I'm wondering how your integration process is going?

+SummerStitchinWitch Thanks so much for your comment and for taking the time to watch! You know what? Things are pretty tough right now, and I'm going to record a new vlog in the next couple of days to talk about it. I've been resisting the urge because it feels like it spoils the optimistic story arc, but real life just won't stop being messy...

+Jonathan Waterlow I also can see changes in you, comparing to what it felt before and after, and though you have hard times after, it's absolutely natural, as highs and lows happen in this dual reality even when you have higher level of self love, plus when you started your transformation, you touched some deep layers of pain and self- uneccaptance, and then you felt better, and then again other layers came up. Don't you worry about all types of negative reactions you may have or will have in the future, you already made your decision and stone has been rolled. Intention is a powerful tool, so if your intention is going deeper into self-discovery, you will be fine. Yet yes, shitty moments will occur, and there's no need to sugar-coated them. It's personal hell and heaven, and hell is hard to take, so why making it illusively better? But exploring it helps to understand where all the "darkenss" comes from.
What helps me in my lows is to try not to identify with these states, no matter how real they seem to be when I am that low. I just keep staying with myself watching it all with acceptance, as if I have moments of hate or anger towards myself, love is not available in such moments, so acceptance is a key.
      Keep shining and be you!

+Jonathan Waterlow wow, I forgot the main thing: drama is a choice. uneccaptance is a choice. depression is a choice. choice is all yours.

Jonathan, this was incredible. I got a bit of a tear in my eyes at the end. I should like to follow in your foot steps at some point. Can you tell us what tribe or organization was your contact? How did you plan your trip? You mentioned Canada at the end so I'm assuming you flew from South America up to Toronto? Give me a shout if you wish to jam about your travels. I would love to hear. Natalie Jodie Wells USA. I'm in Kentucky. But I fly to Toronto a lot. ON Twitter I'm archeusledoux

+Archeus Ledoux Thanks so much for that comment - I really appreciate it! Despite any and all signs to the contrary, it can easily feel like I'm just talking into a black hole rather than to other people... although there's something to be said for talking to yourself in any case!
I went to the SpiritQuest Sanctuary, near Iquitos in Peru. They have a thoroughly retro website here: biopark.org. You have to email them through the contact details and discuss with don Howard what your intentions and expectations are for working with whichever plant medicine you're interested in, and the rest is down to him. As it happens, don Howard is from Kentucky too, originally - a nice synchronicity ;)

can you tell me what the cost was of your trip? I mean where you went and drank ayahuasca. I went to peru a couple of months ago but it was very expensive, i think i spent about 4000$ on the entire trip and the retreat was 1400$

+Grateful Chad I went to the SpiritQuest Sanctuary, which you can find via their website biopark.org. Just write to them via the email address there to introduce yourself and ask for more information. This retreat cost $2000, which included all food, drinks, accommodation, etc (but not including travel to/from Peru). I don't have much money, but I'd still say it was worth every penny, and the accommodation, food, setting, expertise and care at the Sanctuary were outstanding :)
