His whole run in TNA was awesome. I wish they'd run with the blood eye and continue the Dark Order story. People though Chris was the leader before Brodie came so why not. Let her go out with a bang. I think it would be mega money. Dark Order is under appreciated as a stable.
The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels is such a gem in the wrestling industry. Love the dude. I'm glad he's still killing it all over the place as well as holding a nice job backstage on AEW. Hope I see him back on Dynamite/Rampage/Dark/Elevation, soon.
It's crazy how Daniels is only 5 years younger than the Undertaker with a much more athletic style & can still go with guys in their early 20s, like think of the difference between Daniels now & 2017 Undertaker. Daniels has got to be the Tom Brady of wrestling where father time is being defeated
Fantastic interview! Man, I could listen to Daniels talk all day. Such great stories and such a great storyteller. Daniels is hands-down one of the greatest pro wrestlers of our generation, over 20 years of pure quality. Great to hear he's in the talent relations and coaching end of AEW too, a brilliant mind that can really nurture the next generation of pro wrestlers.
I love that CD uses the eye as part of his character in BTE. It'd be awesome if he could get back in the AEW ring and play it up while the discoloration lasts. I know I sure would!
I wish I'd seen more of his matches. When he came into prominence with TNA I was on my way out of watching wrestling regularly so I missed a good chunk of his career. His time in AEW with SCU I really gained a lot appreciation for him.
One of my all time favorite guests. Yeah I'm no Chris Van Vliet and I have no illusions that I am, but I had the honor of speaking to him once on a podcast and he was a super nice, super friendly guy. If I wasn't already a fan going in I was ten times as much of one after we were done.
@@smeagolbeagle2316 watched him for the first time in AEW with Franky . SCU. I live in South Africa and the only wrestling i could watch growing up was WWE . Ever since i started watching AEW a whole new world has kind of been opened to me because i was so closed off to other wrestling promotions because they just didnt come on tv . Honestly he can use the eye to his advantage & join the house of black, dark order or hell even be his own dark entity as the ageless fallen angel!!! When I 1st saw the eye I honestly thought it was a contact until this interview! Thanx for this! 🔥 #chrissharp
It's still contact I belive, he is really selling his story well... Subconjunctival hemorrhage extends just to the base of the iris since bulbar conjunctiva attaches at the root of the iris also it heals by a month max unless he had some sort of bleeding diathesis which I doubt a prowrestler had has....
Didn't think in 2022 I'd be listening to a Chris Van Vliet interview where a wrestler name drops Jim Kettner. Dude gave a lot of opportunity to guys on the independent scene.
Yep. I hate that they seem to be basing the "5 star" quality on Meltzer's opinion. For many people, Low Ki vs. KENTA was a 5 star match. Just because Meltzer didn't think it was 5 stars doesn't mean it wasn't a 5 star match.
I feel like people in 2022, that have never seen Curry Man...will get offended by his name alone n then hear his accent n probably get offended by that as well. Apparently he’s hot, he’s spicy n tastes great!
@@aztecwrrior1997 it's wrestling you have to suspended belief. Besides red eye or no people will logically try you find out via the internet just out of curiosity who he was.
@@DyingIinyourarms Yeah that was my biggest concern with the character. I'm Asian and I think it's funny as hell but others might not and be offended. Maybe the son of curry man maybe born in the USA?
Tbh that eye could be used in a gimmick because it's that scary to look at. But still I wish Christopher the best and I hope we'll see him soon on Dynamite, I'm hoping for a storyline with him, Kazerian and Scorpio Sky which will conclude the SCU saga.
I live in Seattle and had NO IDEA CD was our Defy Champ!! Of course, the last Defy event I went to was the month before the pandemic :\ I need to change that. In addition to CD being AMAZING, Kaz & Sky are two of the best AEW has that are CONSISTENTLY being over looked. I miss SCU super bad.
I love the Unbreakable 3-Way, but honestly, the AMW vs XXX Six Sides of Steel cage match from Turning Point 04 is my favorite TNA match of all time and in my top ten favorite ones ever.
I found out this morning I’d broken my back years ago and now I’ve got messed up L4 & L5 disks. CD popped in my mind right away after being told. Thank god for the MRI and specialist appointment at the end of the month
Love the fallen angel he's always been smooth on the ring, but how does tna only have 1 five star match ? But aew has 13 in 3 years early tna was dope af
I really wish CD would get a decent run in AEW, so many possibly great ones come to mind. With Orange, Swerve, Dax, Darby, Bryan, a really big one with Kenny (dream one for me, that one unfortunate timing in ROH is a sore letdown) and maybe even Sting, but Tony probably doesn't see sense in pushing someone that age for a long run.
Hope CD reads this! AS you are on the End-Time of your Active Career, i think and Hope YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST HAVE 1 last BIG TV RUN / PUSH! Greetz!!
CD V AJ VS Joe at unbreakable was the best match that tna did but I’d pull the sequel up there as well. I always watch unbreakable then the sequel when ever I feel like watching the match

I agree that Daniels should be on the tna Mount Rushmore but I hate to say it but only if there was a Mount Rushmore for 8 or if there was two separate Mount Rushmore because if I had to pick four people in the Mount Rushmore of tna it would have to be AJ Styles Jeff Jarrett sting and angle The next four and no particular order would be Samoa Joe Robert Roode the Motor City Machine Guns and either abyss or Christopher Daniels whatever you prefer
So the eye is a real bump not part of the gimmick Jesus. Chris, you look bad ass man!! I wouldn't fuck around with a guy with a red eye you look possessed, dignifys the Fallen Angel
Nah....didn’t you see the damage he took from the Bucks? There’s no way to take that much damage n it not be real....🙂 You heard it from the man himself!
The answer to why only one 5 star match is Meltzer was stone cold wrong because the iron man match with Daniels and AJ was actually a better match than that 3 way. Also he only gives 5 star matches to the Young Bucks when they are called the Young Buck, their matches with the Motor city Machine guns are better than most of the good AEW tag matches they have had.
Christopher Daniels. June of 2003 you and I met. You refused a fellow worker an autograph because you saw a fan without the $20.00 you requested. I had been in the business for 13 years and was working for MLW helping promote the show. Fast forward to September and I'm now retired due to injury. You never settled up, even though another worker did. You had the chance and failed. Same promotion, different show. Thank you, for you taught me how not to treat the fans.
Why would a "fellow worker" want another wrestler's autograph? Seems a bit unprofessional on that wrestler's part as it makes him seem like a fan instead of a co-worker. Maybe that's why Daniels refused. It also seems psychotic that you have a 20-year vendetta with a man over an autograph. Seek help.
@@LokiTricksterG Daniels thought I was a fan. I had never worked on a card with him, just local South FL stuff. As far as a 20 year vendetta, there's been others like Piper/Snuka and Lawler/Funk. Funny thing is the "other worker" was Raven. It wasn't over just the autograph though, it was about respect.
Love Daniels but I hope he was being wry about why the Bucks have so many 5 star matches. It’s sickening that one guy’s opinion carries so much weight nowadays. Used to be Meltzer was practically a pariah amongst wrestlers, now you’ve got guys naming their finishers after him and Britt Baker’s first thought backstage being what Dave gave her match. At best, the likes of the Bucks and Omega are actively pandering to Meltzer’s tastes to get good ratings, at worst Dave has a financial stake in AEW or is on the payroll and has abandoned any pretence of journalistic integrity and objectivity
