To each is own. Wear your hair any way you want to. If you don’t wear your hair natural that does not mean you are compromising your “blackness”. Some black women wear straight hair (relaxed, pressed, weaves, wigs etc.) simply because it’s more manageable. I wear my natural hair, but I don’t see women that choose not to wear their hair natural any different. They are not less black, or less cool, or less woke. It’s just a choice. It’s just fashion. It’s just your own personal style. Do you!

I can go out in public and I can count on one hand how many black women are wearing their own hair. And it seems that we are ashamed of our natural hair. It would be great to see majority of our ladies make the same effort to maintain our natural hair as we do the wigs and weaves

It was somewhat annoying when I was growing up and even going through college because I always got flack from other black people and of course non-black people for not having straight, silky styles or having perfect edges. I am glad that I never allowed them to get to me and make me feel as though I needed to have a great style according to them. I have always been my own person, and I always will be. As long as I know my hair is combed and "kempt," that is all that matters.

P.s: Quad being in this conversation with the yellow wig....bothered me a little bit cause she has never rocked her natural hair (atleast never that I've seen). Scarlett looks great and I've been natural my whole life and my sister due to our mothers teaching us how to do our hair. MOTHERS do not put fake hair or perms in our daughters, teach them to love their hair and how to take care of it. It starts in the home imo.

Can we please stop criticizing women with wigs, weaves, relaxers, and dyed hair. We are not all at the same place in our journey to self-love. Also, some women may have health issues that cause baldness (like my mom) or they may just be wearing a wig for the day. We’ve been through a lot as a people. Can’t we just love and support one another instead of degrading each other. By the way, I wear my hair completely natural, but I’m tired of the judgmental, superior attitude coming from some naturals and a lot of men.

I think black women no matter their shade, hair texture, length etc should stop using the term "embracing" and start accepting their hair. Stop making excuses as to why they wear wigs and weaves i.e "protective style or versatile" Sop referring to wearing their natural hair as a "hair journey". It's a part of who you are instrinsically. I'm so sick of it. Black women, accept yourselves and stop making excuses.
