This reminds me of a short-lived place in Vegas in the early 90's called "Burgerpipe" which had a ground beef "sausage" inserted into a cylindrical bun (not sliced like a hotdog bun, but rather one end cut off and hollowed-out in the middle to slide the meat and condiments into).
For my racing team, I’m making pulled pork sandwiches this weekend. With apricot bbq sauce, provolone and peach onion bacon jam. Dreamed it up the other day. Sounds good to me.
How about trying this concept with a chicken parm dog? Mix Italian spices, bread crumbs, egg, grated parm cheese, and sour cream in with ground chicken. Form into the same shape as this. Grill the "dog", toast your bun, then sprinkle dog with more parm. Put a layer of marinara on the toasted bun and top with the dog.
Sour cream in chicken parm? Where does that go? Not knocking it just trying to see where it would go as I've never heard of sour cream in a chicken parm. Just curious.
@smokeyfrog210 we've made chicken parm burgers with this recipe. I just figured it would be good in "hot dog" form as well. So good! My wife has alpha-gal, so she can't eat mammal meat. We are always looking for recipes with Poultry and seafood. This one was a winner.
@@JDubST seems weird for sure. But the sour cream prevents the chicken from becoming too dry when cooking on a griddle. Additionally, the egg and bread crumbs are a binder for the ground chicken. The sour cream also acts to counter any dryness from those components. That said, I've never tried it without the sour cream. May not even need it....
I have always said I will not make burgers and dogs camping. BUT I am going to make this our next camping trip! Great job Sam! Thanks for doing what you do.
Sam, I made this today and it was out of this world! By far my favorite UA-cam recipe I have ever done. I generally do not like sweetness with my meat, but something about your video told me to try it. Fantastic! Full disclosure: my grocery store did not have apricot, so I substituted peach...still, glorious. You are a cooking STUD! Thank you sir!
Not sure why YT wasn't showing your videos for a while but I started a fast this week and now suddenly I'm stuck watching all of these amazing recipes and dying on the inside.
I live in Napa and go to our golf tournament as media every year. Silverado Resort is where a family member of mine works. Thanks for giving Napa a shoutout! Burger Dogs are great!
Still don’t understand the difference between a “dog made out of burger meat” and “burger meat turned into a tube”. Aren’t both just ground beef shaped like a dog?
Sam, you are never gonna believe this. My dad went to the store and brought back hotdog buns instead of hamburger buns and now this just came up as my solution. This is happening right now!!! I also ordered a griddle!!!
There was a gas station in my hometown growing up (90s) that used to put hamburger "hot dogs" on their electric hot dog roller machine. They were $1 each.
I made it with a couple variations because of what I had on hand. I used chipotle instead of habanero and fresh blueberries from my garden instead of apricot jam. LOVED IT!
I might be wrong, but the original Bill’s burgerdog is many decades old and originally from the Olympic Club in San Francisco. The Silverado iteration came much, much later. (I’ve enjoyed both and they are pretty much the same)

When my Mom would forget to take hamburger out of the freezer, she would cut it in slabs and fry it and serve in hot dog buns. We called them burger dogs, lol

We made the sauce and put it in fish tacos and eggs, soooooo yummy. Nice to have something in the refrig that packs a big flavor punch. Will do the burger dog in the future.
Had that burger many, many times at Silverado. I was lucky enough to have golf parents who played an invitational there every summer. It's absolutely best served plain--meat, cheese, bun. It's magical. I understand why you want to embellish it, but honestly, the original is best when you skip the garden.
I am making the golf burger dog today and I’m going to watch “The Open”. But what I really need is a knife. Please send me a knife!! Love this Channel!!!
Lol I just saw Greg from Ballistic BBQ post a video on a famous burger dog recently. It's never even occurred to me to make something like this, but Sam's reasoning about not having a bun makes sense.

The perfect solution to the uneven numbers between hotdog packages and hotdog bun packages.
Most hotdog packs are 8 and most come with 8 buns too. but when you have the uneven numbers hell yeah
Looks fantastic.....but a bit raw lol. Only one bite Sam?

Apricot jam is an amazing addition to a lot of food. Apricot glazed chicken is great!
Try Sam's Juicy AF Beef ribs; best sauce on the planet.
I love the cooking but I also love spotting the dogs in the background, like the little pup at 11:20
I feel like you guys would be super fun to hang out with. Not just for the food, but the lightning quick wit. Great vid, as always.

I not only understood what Sam meant by "foamy" but think it's possibly the BEST way to describe what was happening.
That is exactly what I thought. Is his son autistic?
When the bacon gets foamy, you’re almost done homey!
The Peyronie dog! Sure to be a classic.
