WHAT CAN I DO IF I DON'T LIKE MY GRAY HAIR ONCE IT'S GROWN OUT ?

  • Hello,
One correction I need to point out: Demi permanent and Semi permanent and temporary are different I used them interchangeably . Demi permanent means it contains a developer with peroxide. Semi permanent on the other hand should not.
( further clarification below) Temperary color does not contain ammonia or peroxide and will wash out in most cases.
    Example:
Natural Instincts -is demi permanent contains a low amount of peroxide 10-15 volume
    L'Oreal Preference - permanent 20 + volume peroxide
Fanciful - Temperary no peroxide no ammonia
L'Oreal root touch up spray - Temperary no peroxide no ammonia
The last 2 can be considered semi permanent.
What works for one person may not work for another. This is the thought process on doing this video. Not to worry, you have options!!
Going gray does not mean you cannot customize your look to suit you.
    TO RE-CAP, YOUR OPTIONS:
GRAY HAIR YELLOWING : Use clarifying shampoo Suave daily Clarifying shampoo
    • WHY IS MY GRAY HAIR TU...
IF YOUR HAIR IS TOO COURSE: Try products with Argon oil or other oil, anti frizz products or smoothing products such as Suave smoothing cream in level one. Also you can talk to your hairdresser about a sealer. This is a clear product that can be put on to seal your hair.
Smoothing shampoos like Suave Sleek and Shine. Garnier Fructis shine /sleek spray
IF YOUR HAIR IS TOO WHITE: ( and you are not allergic to hair color) You can get a back weave where your hair color is weaved in to your white. You can do this with any color - Blonde, black, brown. What ever your color was prior to going gray, is best. The smaller the weaved sections are the more natural it will look.
Wearing makeup and bronzer may help to warm up your complexion.
IF YOU WANT TO PLAY WITH A FUN COLOR & ADD DIMENSION:
Use a temporary color on under sections of your hair using foils ( a temporary color is a single bottle or tube or spray that contains no developer no mixing at all. If you have to mix it its NOT a temporary color)
IF YOUR HAIR IS TOO WHITE AND TOO THIN: You can add your natural color to the underside of your hair for a 50% color. Adding color to the underneath layers provides an optical illusion of having thicker fuller hair.
Please note this video is not intended to substitute for advice from a licensed professional hairdresser. Please consult with one before trying any of the above. The author and creator of this video will not be held responsible for any, loss, damage or injury.
NOTE: Permanent and demi- permanent color will wash down but NOT completely out. This could be true of some semi permanent colors as well . Semi permanent color should not contain a developer so there should be NO second bottle to mix with. Fanciful would be considered temperary. As the word semi itself means almost or partially which does not adequately describe and can cause some confusion. Any color applied to hair may not wash completely out in some cases and may leave a hue of color . So please consult with a licensed professional before choosing a color.

After keeping my hair blonde for many years I let mine grow out at 78 years old. Loved it at first but most of the white was in the front and the rest salt and pepper. My sister has that beautiful white grey hair and I had hoped it would be like hers. I gave it a good 6 months and I’m back to very blonde hair again. My trade was a hairdresser so I find it easy to keep it blonde. I really looked forward to being grey but just didn’t work for me. My advice would be if you can’t get use to your new grey hair you can always go back to what you like. You just don’t know if you don’t give it a try. Do what makes you happy! Great video! ❤️

Your color & cut is so beautiful on you. The color of your hair at the bottom is the color my white streaks have recently taken on. I do rotate the shampoo's I use. All are sulfate & paraben free and I do use a very pigmented purple shampoo once or twice a month just to keep any yellowing at bay. I need to get some of that Suave Clarifying Shampoo; would love for my silver streaks to be as white as yours.

That made all the difference in the texture. I am happier, but the cut makes all the difference! I will start using the clarifying a couple of times a week, I do not want purple hair! Semi permanent uses no developer. It’s like the fabtasy colors that come straight from the tube. A demi permanent color is acidic based and doesn’t lift. It’s all deposit. All

After fighting with my hair dresser for 3 years, I gave in to him and let my hair grow out to grey. I get rave reviews on the color 14:02 from many people. All women 80 and older. My male friends and family, as well as my younger friends, all say it makes me look much older and sallow. They are correct. I hate it, hate it, hate it. My hair dresser adds a tiny bit of “platinum” to blend the whiter grey with the darker, irregular clumps of “maw-maw” blue-grey hair so I spend $185 every 6 weeks for this and I have Uber-fine, baby fine hair which needs more peroxide to give me texture and body. I thought the reason to go natural was so you wouldn’t have the expense of coloring and still having to be keeping a coloring schedule. I don’t care what anyone says, grey makes you look much older. Before I “went natural” people thought I was 12 to 16 years younger than my real age (70) and now they all guess my age or 2 years older. I want to not be grey and not be monochromatic but I can’t find anyone to do this. Going grey sucks. Don’t do it.

I've decided to keep my hair long and put it in an up do. having coloured my hair since the age of l5 and putting the colour all over my hair - not just the roots, I have decided not to colour or use heated rollers or hair dryer. so, my hair is coming through darkish grey at the back and side, with light at the front and still some blonde showing through until it grows out.
