Top tip for you: Long press the « group » button on your remote and all groups will sync, you don’t need to have them in the same group. Very handy.
Can you strobe these from the remote ?

Great video, Aaron. Love the classy color-changing high-quality light and output these put out. I sold all my pixel mapping lights due it not fitting the higher-end look that my clientele prefers. When I gave clients the choice, almost all of them preferred color fades compared to the pixel light animations. We, as DJs sometimes like certain things and expect the client to feel the same, when in reality, it can be quite different and it's always good to give your client a choice. I found that 9/10 clients did NOT like the pixel lights as they commented in used words like corny, cheesy, not professional looking, kid- like, and something that they could purchase from a local party store.
I sort of feel the way your couples do. I don't run the pixel mapping on my current tubes, I know some people considered that a drawback that Ape didn't make these Pixel Mappable but I prefer them that way

I think ApeLabs limitations are coming front and center now. MusikMode is easily the best built in lighting system on the market.
That said, not having pixel mapping means they're going to be left behind by those who do offer it. These are basically just a brighter version of what they already have out there.
I'm waiting for the W-APP to have the full MusikMode functionality (all groups respond individually) because I do have that...but right now? It's not as good as many other options, even just M/S the internal sound modes with multiple groups.
The W-App does have full MusikMode functionality with all groups responding individually (as long as you're talking about Ape Labs lights). Just click "Lights" rather than "Connect" next to "MusikMode". If you update your W-App to the latest firmware, they added a second more intense version of MusikMode which brings the lights down to 0% rather than their traditional dimming on off-beats. If you're using the W-App with non-Ape Labs lights, you'll never be able to get the full functionality of MusikMode because the other lights don't have the hardware in them (so they can't talk to each other, they can only talk to the W-App). Only Ape Labs lights will be able to respond with the full light show functinoality of MusikMode. The main reason they made this feature was so you can bring some non-Ape Labs lights into your Ape Labs ecosystem. If you mix in a handful of non-Ape Labs lights with Ape Labs lights, you'll get a similar effect to them all being Ape Labs.
I missed a bunch of these features- you also do not need the w-app to do updates! There's the ability to turn the green light off when off, and flicker mode. Lots of great stuff here!

As far as if it ever could...no problem. Scenes are already divided into 4 unique groups, assigned by DMX address. Having MusikMode trigger each group at different times would achieve nearly the same result without requiring AL fixtures. Completely unnecessary to have each light be the mic.
It would be very easy to implement, but it also would remove the barrier of spending significantly more on a single fixture to enter the ecosystem, so I don't blame them for not releasing it as a feature (yet).
I could see sales for the W-APP rise significantly if that option were added, especially if they added the ability to control the W-APP with a remote, but how that would balance out over time is anyone's guess. What is certain is more and more people looking for a budget friendly AIO option, and at this point the WMX1 is the best option (other than internal sound/auto modes).
@@MBrulla We asked them about this in the past, and they explained that it is impossible because the mics and chips in each light are essential for achieving a synchronized light show. The lights communicate with each other, sometimes pulsing in unison and other times only parts of the room pulse. Each light's mic helps analyze the room's sound, which is what makes them so unique. While a lower-quality version with grouping could probably be made, Ape Labs is committed to producing high-quality products and features behind the brand. If their focus were on being the least expensive option, they would manufacture their products in China like many others. However, this would compromise some product / feature quality. Similarly, using one mic instead of multiple would reduce the quality of their light show. Ape Labs items are premium products at a premium price, but the same people behind ape labs do offer a China brand called Prost Lighting. They offer a super, super bright hex color battery uplight called the MoonBox, at $179. If you're looking for an inexpensive option, that could be interesting. It doesn't have MusikMode or many of the Ape Labs features, but it is a great option if you just need something simple. We also have some uplights from JMAZ and Chauvet that are at a great price, as well as a few other brands. There are definitely plenty of budget options on the market, but there's always some sacrifice associated with the budget options in terms of quality and features.

They already have them. Titan tubes are like 6ft tall. Wireless DMX. And master slave.

Ape labs felt the heat and did literally nothing about it. I was atleast expecting some patterns/pixel. It just does solid colors 🤦🏻♂️ the almighty musik mode isn’t gonna keep them afloat forever.
Good point's here- let me check in with them to see if there is something you can do like mapping
@@gordondavid101 It's a different look and one that many clients feel is actually higher end. I have found that many clients find the pixel lights cheesy replicating a cheap party effect from Party City.
@@gordondavid101 I prefer that though. I don't care for the pixel mapping at weddings anyway and run my current tubes on solid colors anyway so that was a plus to me. I think MusikMode will keep them a float for a little while longer because one thing Both hasn't worked on improving is how their lights work together( don't work together) and their sound mode is just random color flashy trashy. I'm not hating on Both as I use lights from Ape and Both but have always wished Both would step the game up a little in regards to performance. If Both did work on making it to where you could actually use their lights in Sound Mode and improving the control I think then they really could put a little heat to Ape Labs. But as they are now you still need to run some sort of DMX program for control.

Great review! But Ape Labs are just too expensive. I feel like every DJ especially the ones that follow UA-cam will all be using Both Lighting and all have the same light show pretty soon! Hopefully some more competition comes into the market! Seems like sheds is making some waves.

I'm a A.L. fan and owner, but these are simply inferior to the Both lighting and maybe others I don't actually own. These just pulsing are boring and basic if they did pixel mapped shows then let's talk.
