Just gotta say thanks for this video, I have to play this song (as well as many other songs) in front of my school with my band for a battle of the bands event.. I play bass, but my guitarist friend desperately needed this. Thanks.
Very well done! 👍🏻👌🏻Heard Black Sabbath as a kid in 1972, went out to buy Black Sabbath, the first LP within days, still have that vinyl. Hardcore fan since. This and also Disturbing the Priest, some of the best metal guitar if you ask me....
I recently ordered, and acquired that same exact style Epiphone you're playing right there.I desperately wanted one with P-90s. I had a lot of ideas about what kind of sounds I was going to get.not only did I get to sounds that I was expecting but I got things that were above and beyond the call of duty I was asking for. They are EXTREMELY versatile. Personally I believe all that versatility(besides the way that you play with your hands left and right) all that versatility is because of those P-90's....
@@DoesItDoom Yeah I got a boatload of guitars man,but I don't have an SG with two p90s until that Epiphone. I do have like a 1980s Japanese jazzmaster knock-off with 2p 90s and it sounds like sleep-jerusalem. I played in bands with that guitar with the other guys thought I was insane.cuz it looks like some Kurt Cobain type of guitar but it sounds like an avalanche of rocks coming down a mountain. It is THE epitome of thr Doom guitar.
I had juuuuust successfully forgotten about that damn new epiphone sg special and the fact that you can now again grab a set of john birch p90s for a resonable price... now I might have to decide what piece of gear to sell... damned.
Hey man love your content thank you so much . Would be great if you could do any spaceslug guitar lessons . Great sludge band from Poland that’s super underrated and have no tabs online
I think his early blues influence was probably Clapton’s work on the John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers Beano album. Really cool to checkout this early live Mythology recording with Tony and Bill where they cover a handful of blues songs from that record: ua-cam.com/video/jBnSTO0qHx0/v-deo.html
I’ve been adding the bass lines to all of the lesson tabs for the channel. Should have all of them available within 4-6 weeks at www.patreon.com/doesitdoom
Have never owned a Greco. It’s a nice guitar, similar to a Gibson SG Special. I don’t like the poly finish (Gibson has nitro) and the fretboard wood isn’t the greatest (it’s nice though). The pickups are decent.
I think for a more vintage style doom (witchcraft, early pentagram, etc) a strat can work, but I don’t think your typical single coil strat works well in a modern doom application.
And after 5 years of getting nowhere with guitar I just learned my first solo. Thank you!
That is the coolest thing I’ve read all day! 🐐🤘🏻🧙🏻♂️
That is a great first solo to learn my friend. My first solo I learned was Whole Lotta Love from Zep.

Awesome!! Great song choice.
Rock on kids, rock on🤘
Nah man you don't "have" to play Sabbath, you get to play Sabbath. Praise Iommi!
It’s nice to finally find a person who cares about great music on UA-cam
I appreciate that, Bill. Thanks for watching.
Legit fav guitar solo ever. Thank you man
One of my all time favorites for sure. Glad you enjoyed the lesson!

Awesome man. Send me a request at www.doesitdoom.com/requests so we can get it on the list.
I have also got to stop myself getting the Epi re-Issue and the Birch replica pups!
Too late...
Spot on! 😍
Thanks brother. 🐐🐐
Great!!
Thanks brother!
Great song, I really like the sleep cover though
This SG is osom
For sure!
The best thing that happened in Metal is Tony Iommi losing the tips of his fingers. Tragedy leading to brilliance.
Beautiful Epiphone
I can hear a lot of Hendrix influences in his solos
I think his early blues influence was probably Clapton’s work on the John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers Beano album. Really cool to checkout this early live Mythology recording with Tony and Bill where they cover a handful of blues songs from that record: ua-cam.com/video/jBnSTO0qHx0/v-deo.html
@@DoesItDoom read his book, said he loved Clapton! cant remember what he thought of Hendrix.
Definitly hear a lot of early clapton licks in iommi solos
Hey man what do you think about the jcm2000 ?
No experience with it unfortunately.
I cant get the bends to sound on pitch with my 11-54 maybe they are a bit to thick or i am too weak
Can we get some content on bass for doom metal?
I’ve been adding the bass lines to all of the lesson tabs for the channel. Should have all of them available within 4-6 weeks at www.patreon.com/doesitdoom
How's this epiphone compared to your Greco SG or a Gibson SG Special?
Have never owned a Greco. It’s a nice guitar, similar to a Gibson SG Special. I don’t like the poly finish (Gibson has nitro) and the fretboard wood isn’t the greatest (it’s nice though). The pickups are decent.
So to tune C sharp we need heavier strings ?
Iommi did it with 9-42, but it’s really hard to keep in tune that way. I would recommend something in the range of 10-48 to 11-52
Can you make a video and play Into the Void?
Done. ua-cam.com/video/pt5jPiRowlw/v-deo.html
@@DoesItDoom Nice! I just watched it, and it is the best video play through of that particular song.
Dennis Hall thanks man! Studied a lot of live footage to try and get it right.
What do you think of playing stoner/doom with a strato?
I think for a more vintage style doom (witchcraft, early pentagram, etc) a strat can work, but I don’t think your typical single coil strat works well in a modern doom application.
@@DoesItDoom and maybe an SG?
Julius Gaiztoak SG or Les Paul would work great. P90s and Humbuckers both work with great bassy fuzz
🤘🏼🔥🔥🔥
are you into the Melvins? Be cool to to do the song "Anaconda"
Yeah man. Drop the request at www.doesitdoom.com/requests so it gets in the list.
