John Bonham liked Supernaut as well. When Zeppelin and Sabbath got together to jam in 1973, Bonzo wanted to jam on Bill Ward's drum set to Supernaut. I've seen the future and I've left it behind."

At first, I thought you had it wrong because no tabs, no lessons and no covers were played that way. But then I watched live footage of Tony and sure enough, you nailed it. Your lessons are very very accurate. I really appreciate your precision.
If your channel was a thing when I was 12-18 I’d probably most definitely be a much better guitar player, but who knows. Growing up with CDS, boomboxes and TABS from ultimate guitar was enough. Doing the lords work, brother.
Awesome breakdown of one of my favorite songs. I loved "Supernaut" since I was a toddler and our stoner neighbors in Marina Del Rey blasted Sabbath24/7 back around '75-'76 till one of them kicked the bucket on scag. I'm forever grateful to them for getting me into Sabbath at an early age. Iommi was always one of my earliest influences. Some of the first songs I learned on guitar at the age of eleven were Sabbath tunes. C# tuning is step one to Sabbath's black magic.
Yeah, I see Iommi doing it live, but somehow I thought it was open e and b strings, feels easier and more natural. I even wondered if Iommi relearned his own song wrong, but that’s not possible. 😂
New sub to your channel. I just recently picked up an SG, and dedicated it to playing and learning Sabbath riffs, and it looks like your channel will be a great complement with that.
Man, if you drop the 6th string down to F#, could you imagine the octave power of that riff? It would probably sound like whales galloping through a golf course.

Les Paul and SG guitars require less sound enhancement "effects" than any other guitars I've played. Also, great job on how to play Supernaught, everyone else played it on the second fret of the d string and didn't down tune. All hammer ons and pull off, no slides. You definitely gave the best lesson.
Amazing all the steps required today to recreate what Tony did just plugging into am amp.... And even though he has been appreciated by fans, he was somewhat underappreciated by fellow famous musicians at the time, the whole band was, they couldnt seem to understand the impact Black Sabbath had or why they did, which is weird. There are many comments made by big celebrity musicians at the time, kind of mocking or putting Black Sabbath down
My favorite band like most , me and my wife walked out to supernaut to be greeted at our wedding everyone went nuts, we even had the wedding band play fairies wear boots all the old metal heads got up and danced with the devil . Lol great time , fucking killer lesson

I am always learning something from DID. I always played that D chord on the A string 5th feet, and found the fingering kind of clunky when going from that D to the Hendrix chord. I have always had the bad habit of tunnel vision and only seeing things one way. This way will make it a lot easier.
This is awesome. By the way, I''ve got the same 60w Laney head that I've had for years and more recently found a matching cab with Goodman speakers. It's basically the only thing I record through now.

I have an early 2000's Gibson SG with the crescent 🌙 inlays. Been considering having it set up for C Sharp Standard with Power Slinkys for Sabbath stuff. I got plenty of guitars so i can spare that SG for an odd tuning. I love how C Sharp Standard sounds.

Agreed. Great show. There’s a lot of 73-75 live shows uploaded to UA-cam. Ontario and Detroit are the best in both quality and set lists. The mid-seventies shows had all the best Ozzy era tracks, and some live, awesome B-Sides like “Meglomania”. Good shit!

Weird, when I play the Vol. 4 track, I'm not hearing the dual-note chord two frets above the 'D' chord shape (the one you say I actually a B, because of the tuning). It must be buried in the wall of sound on the album, I think they used 3 or 4 guitars on top of each other. Did Tony Iommi play it that way live or something? Really cool lesson, though. Love that SG with the P-90s. Through the amp, it nails the tone exactly. Peace.

Depends what kind of amp you've got. Tony's classic tone is an overwound bridge P90 pickup with the volume backed off to 8-9 and the treble at full running into low gain vintage tube amp (Laney Supergroup) boosted with a slightly modified Rangemaster germanium boost.

Yeah 10-48 works. Iommi uses 9-42 for C# Standard, for me that doesn’t stay in tune well.

Anybody have suggestion on a good fuzz pedal? I have been trying to find a fuzz pedal with a good amount of low end, wooly fuzz and a decent amount of gain. Also, great lesson always wanted to have learn this.
