- Transformers and Optimus Prime are inseparable, as he is likely the most well-known Autobot and likely has more toy versions than any other Transformers toy throughout the line. The latest reissue of the G1 is the 40th Anniversary Walmart Exclusive and in this versus review, Captain Kyle will compare it to the 2002 New Year’s Special Edition reissue. You decide which is better.
The Generation One Optimus Prime toy has been reissued, remolded, and reused many times. The first G2 version of the Autobot Leader was the same cab, a slightly different deco, and a revamped trailer. There have been reissues in Japan, the U.S., and Europe. The stacks have been shortened, different versions of the gun included, and the variations in colors of Roller and the interior of the trailer abound. This versus review compares the 2002 New Year’s Special Edition Japanese Reissue to the new Walmart Exclusive 40th Anniversary reissue. Captain Kyle examines them thoroughly and you get to decide which is better.

I just picked the 40th from Walmart for 39 bucks. And your review was first on my list. It's my first G1 Optimus since I was a kid. Nice in depth comparison. I appreciate your vids, Capt. Kyle.
Just looked up a Diaclone commercial for you. Yes, the whole was always there, and just covered by the rub sign for Transformers.

Nice review. The 2002 New Years Convoy is a reissue of the Goodbye Convoy set that came out in 1986 in Japan in homage to Convoy/Optimus Prime's death in the animated movie. The blue tinted window Convoy is exclusive to this set. The trailer and Roller in your set are not the correct items that came out in the reissue. On the trailer, the canopy of the repair bot is supposed to be blue like Convoy's windows, Roller is supposed to be dark blue, this was also how the vintage Goodbye Convoy set came out. A mouse pad with the Autobot symbol and a sticker sheet with Autobot symbols also came out in the reissue set. The Action Master Prime in this reissue did not come with his own gun, looks like someone threw in a G1 Action Master Treadshot gun in the set.
It's possible I mixed up the trailers. I will look.
@@ToySpotlite I was about to point all that out also, lol. Did you get it sorted out? Thank you for comparing the Optimus Primes at least, lol.
You're correct. Trailer drone has a blue window, Roller is dark blue and AM Prime didn't come with a weapon.
Great review as always .I have a G2 Optimus Prime and it dont have the Rubsign hole on the top !!!
It started with the Japanese reissue in 2000.
Great review. I got Missing Link C02 and considered buying this one for the trailer.
It's super discounted on Walmart now.
Lets gooo
New vid and new prime 🔥
Hi Captain Pull out game! Happy Prime Time!
Pre-rub Prime does have the screw hole, to hold the head on, but the rectangular indentation for the rubsign is not there.
both of my original g1 primes have that hole
I think one is pre-rub and the other is just missing the rub
The new year's edition is so much better in every way. The 40th anniversary releases have been pretty poor in my opinion.
Great review. I see that it’s on sale right now for $35 online at Walmart. Think it’s worth it at that price?
For that price, sure.
I guess you could say this is a Halloween upload
It is on sale at walmart for $56.43.
What makes the 40th Anniversary Optimus Prime so special compared to the 2002 New Year's Special Edition?
Painted to look more like the cartoon. NY edition just added the blue eyes and windows.
The one thing about all these Optimi is that NONE of them come with his anime correct cannon, if you want that it's BTS-03 Matrix of Leadership G1 upgrade kit from China!
I will buy this 40th anniversary G1 Optimus Prime up but i WON’T opened it! I will Displayed it with the box like the 80s memories! I already opened my Studio Series 86 Optimus Prime! ROLL OUT! 🤔🙂🚚
Just open it and enjoy it, you can put it back in the collector friendly box? Otherwise you are just saving it MISB for the next person/you will never experience the the fun, lol.
I wonder how many versions of optimi are there? I wonder if Hasbro even knows?
Still think they needed gave him the energon axe
Isn't "unleaded" diesel?
Leaded vs unleaded. Old cars in the 70 down eras had soft valve seats in the cylinder heads. They used lead in the gasoline to cushion valve to seat areas so it wouldn’t cause wear. Diesel is an oily fuel. Diesel engines don’t have a standard ignition system. They ignite from heat inside the cylinder caused by higher compression ratio.
Semi runs on diesel
Yes, but Roller may be intended to service the other Autobots.
