Hi. I'm a south korean who came across this vid. Turning Mecard was a big hit here, and people lined up from 4 am just to get a hold of these. The lineup did end, but got a S2 called Turning mecard W, and a lot of offsprings, as all hits do, like dino mecard and so on, with exclusive gimics in each. But the anime didnt do as well, so I'm not hearing more. Then some of the designs got into Carbot, another transforming anime, and got this magnetic combining-auto transformation thing. Turning Mecard got a reboot, with the toys getting an upgrade in design and rigidity, and also got a High Grade line too, where you transform them to look more like the in anime look. Also, mirine 미리내 means 은하수, the milky way in pure korean.
To bad form what Iv seen for Seson 2 a lot of them are just recolers of the old ones saw like 5 new ones no idea what there called I liem the plant guy tho seem funny

Dont know if youve covered this already, but Switch-And-Go Dinos were another line that had vehicles turn into dinosaurs, they were very cool though. i recommend covering them.
I remember watching the tenkai knight show when i was younger. I use to really want a toy of one of the characters, but the problem for 8 year old me was that all stores close to me stopped selling them :(
It would be so cool if M.A.S.K. joined The Autobots to help them on Earth instead of G.I.Joe. Hasbro does own M.A.S.K. at this point so it is within the realm of possibilities and I think it would be fantastic.
I remember getting some Tenkai Knights figures as a Christmas present a few years ago. i had no idea what they were and thought it was one those bootleg lego brands I've seen in dollar stores. But after seeing this, I've appreciated this a little more now.
If you love that than you’ll definitely love the show Kamen Rider Build. He’s power system is very similar to these toys combining 2 random objects into powerful armour.
You should look into the long forgotten ReKonstructors. A strange mix between Transformers and Bionicle. There was a video made around 4 years ago on the topic, but I think you could do the subject matter much more "justice".
Oh man, I'd loooovveee to see how Unit Roborn's lore goes cuz they definitely cooking with this one. I've never seen a toy that looks like the company both ran out of ideas and being absurdly creative at the same time.
There was an incredibly similar line to Mecard that was out at the same time (at least in Canada) called Screechers Wild. It was a rebranding of a Chinese toyline which had its own cartoon there. However for its release here they intended to make a completely different promotional cartoon. I worked on this cartoon for a bit, and short episodes were put up on UA-cam, before they decided to just redub the Chinese cartoon, and host that on UA-cam instead (removing the ones we did). it is amazing just how different these cartoons were; the Chinese one had kids battling their transforming toys against each other, while the North American show was about anthropomorphic animal characters that drove transforming mech vehicles! I did snag a couple of these toys while they were on shelves, but I think they are largely forgotten otherwise!
The Bakugan reboot actually had a gimmick with some of them where they revealed the core they landed on, much like the Mecards did. Can't help but think that perhaps they were inspired by them too.
I was gonna comment on how the dicelings gave me Bakugan vibes but then the setup for the Mecard segment happened This actually reminded me to get back into watching the series now
There was a toy line I remember years back that was a Transformers knock off, but I can't remember the name. They were fairly different though, they were robots that basically wore the vehicle parts as armor. I actually still own one of them which is this little robot that wore parts that made a dirt bike, although how he was incorporated into the bike looked weird. All I can remember was there were two factions and one was called (from how the commercial described them) the Evil Eye Syndicate. Can't remember the other side's name though, they might've been known as mavericks or something, or I'm just getting confused. Just another old toy line I'm still trying to remember. Edit: just managed to find them after making this comment, they were called R.E.Vs (Radically Engineered Vehicles) and came from playmates. So that's one more down, just two more to figure out.
I always saw DICE as what if MASK used dinosaurs instead of other vehicles. 😊 Really need to finish off my Tenkai Knights and Mecard collections. Also loved the reference to SD Gundam Force.
As some South Korean dude living somewhere in the US, I absolutely remembered turning mecard (I just realized the name was a pun please kill me), me and my old friends used to collect them like Pokémon cards. Also there is a spin-off where it is less satisfying but it releases dinosaurs, because why the fuck not
The subtitle of Unitroborn isn't just there randomly, it's literally a subline of Machine Robo. In other words, those are the modern version of GoBots.
There is a similar set of toys that worked like Mecard but they used a disc instead of a card. You push the car forward to the disc and the disc goes into a magnetic spot inside of the cars bumper (or front if it's a tank or other vehicle), the car does a frontflip and unlocks itself so the flip helps it to transform as it springs into action. The toys were known as Screechers
Appreciate this video series, threw me back lol. BUT I DO NEED HELP FINDING THIS ONE LINE OF TRANSFORMING TOYS. It was distinctly a clone of TF, often saw it at TJMaxx/Marshall's as a child in the 2000s. I can't exactly remember the title of the line but I'm almost confident it started with an R and had red text, came in horizontal boxes, and were very much shellformers. I can't remember if the vehicle forms were licensed cars or not, does this ring a bell for anyone else? Also, if another vid is on the way, I suggest you cover Tobots from Korea! EDIT: Thanks to another comment, found them! R.E.Vs (Radically engineered vehicles) by Playmate!
Goosebumps, man. Brings back memories. Can't wait to see other 80's toons you remember. There are a few that were "can't believe we seen this as kids". Omg, like that weird guy that looked like a woman that sat down to take off his legs... We didn't care if he was gay, the guy was beautifully badass. I wish I remember the name of the show🥲
tenkai knights was amazing the show as well cause it had top tier voice acting legends in it johnny young bosch yuri lowenthal bryce papenbrook benjamin diskin steve blum mat mercer to name a few. rewatched it recently and it still holds up, except for the jungle arc honestly
Cool to see you talk about M.A.S.K. Yeah, it's gotta be a combination of Transformers and G.I. Joe, since Kenner faced stiff competition from Hasbro, who owned both of them, and needed something to compete as their own Star Wars line was winding down. The masks don't unlock the transformations, but the character do put them on when they go into battle. It's also occurred to that the vehicles are masking their true nature, blending in as normal vehicles, just like the drivers.
Awesome, Tenkai Knights was totally one of my favorite shows and Spin Master toylines when I was young, I use to have some of the sets too :D Plus I think Ionix's also one of my favorite Non-LEGO brands too besides Mega Bloks/Construx and Transformers' KRE-O and Construct-Bots too lol.

Yeah I like the DND dice lings. I actually searched them up and they turned out to be pretty cheap and cool. But this video will probably get me back into those toys. Good eye Jake! 👍👍
The DICE line actually had more released for the on again off again supporting cast than just those 5; though not sure if they were released in the states or not. They were just retools but they were cool. Have MotoTyranno sitting on my shelf to this day.
holy shit i completely forgot about tenkai knights. i got the red guy and the blue guy as a gift a while back and loved playing with them. the perfect pocket toy for waiting in doctors rooms or restaurants
Omg, I've been wondering for years what this transformer i had as little kid was that had a water gun on it, but it turns out it was one of these modifighters!
There are new Transformers clones called Gigabots. They change into spheres, but first you need to assemble them. I don't know if they can transform when you assemble them, or if you need to disassemble them, but the concept was interesting. Also my favourite Hot Wheels sets that can transform like Transformers were Ballistiks. They're cars that can turn into balls. If only i could find some and buy them, but unfortunately they don't seem to be around anymore
If there's one toyline that surprises me that hasn't been mentioned yet, it's monsuno. They were these animal hybrids that folded up then got placed into cylinders which you would launch and have another cylinder hit it to spring out said hybrids.
The most recent MASK toy was a Matt Trakker action figure that was released as part of the GI Joe toyline some time ago. Unfortunately without his vehicle.
As a kid I really enjoyed the Hot Wheels Modifighter flash game, but the toyline had already ended by the time I was playing it. I'm upset now that the only ones I can find on Ebay are absurdly expensive.
It's still surprising that Streetwise is a name for one of the Hot Wheels Modifighters at one point. It was originally a name for one of the Protectobots from the Transformers before the trademark was lost.
2:12 for me, MASK has a bit more like Tokusatsu vibe. Like, Kamen Rider especially, while the masks or helmets themselves aren't usually the thing that causes the shifts and change with whatever gimmick is used. Also the cubes turning into animals gives Zyuohger
Will you ever talk about tobot it's a south Korean toy series and cartoon series which has cars that turn into robots with keys ( the reboot uses phones now) It's one of my favourite transforming toy series so hope you do talk about it thx
Jake does Ultraman Egg toys count? The premise is simple an egg that could transform's into an Ultraman or a Kaiju .You should include it ur next video for this series
I don't expect you to really list gundams on this, but there are several tranfomable gundam model kits and figures. There's parts-formations and full tranfomations just depending on the kit, but if you want a gundam that turns into a two-headed dragon, several great flight forms, but then you get the ones that just have a "flight form" where one just literally splits in half and it's a pair of flying legs and a flying chest.
If you are going/planning to make a part 4, please look to Tobot toyline. This toyline was created by Hyundai/Kia to promote their car brands to kids (and indirectly their parents) in South Korea. The toyline come with a TV animated series that mix a little bit of Power Rangers/Super Sentai and Transformers. In this show, kids (not teenagers or young adults, children itself) uses watches (like morphers) to control giant robots made out Hyundai and Kia cars (and sometime special vehicle ones, like bus, planes, ambulances, etc.). For a Korean Toylines, they made pretty transformable toys too. - - - We have another toylines/animated shows transformers knock-off from Korea: - - 1 - Robocar Poli: A toddlers show about police vehicles with eyes and mouth (like Pixar's Cars franchise) who are able to transform into robots. - - 2 - From the same creators of Robocar Poli, we have Super Wings: A toddlers show about planes with eyes and mouth (like Diney's Plane franchise) who are able to transform into flying robots. - - 3 - Byclons or Biklons or Biclons or Byklons (I never remember exactly the correct writing for this toyline's/show's name). In this show, bikers (yeah, bikers, like mountain bikers or speed bikers), pedal special bikes wich are capable to enter in animal robots and the bikes turns into the robots controls/cockpit(???). I don't know much more, but they are from the same creators of Tobot. - - 4 - I don't know if it counts, but South Korea has his on version of Power Rangers/Super Sentai called Miniforce. Instead of live action, this show is a 3D cartoon where a Kid take care of cute little animal-talking monsters wich are capable to morph into the rangers. I'm putting these here, because they have many "zords" (I don't know how they are named on the show) and almost all the "zords" are capable to transform itself from animal/dino/vehicle mode to robot mode, before combining to a bigger robot/"megazord" (I never watched the show, I just saw some promo and toys reviews, so I don't know the names and terms used, sorry). Sorry for my not-perfect english. It isn't my native language.
Your the reason I got in to transformers I watch the old live Live action movies with my dad and I never really got in to it Till I found your videos.😊

I watched Turning mecard and Tenkai knights
That was good series, i still have Turning mecard toys
Omg, I've been wondering for years what this transformer i had as little kid was that had a water gun on it, but it turns out it was one of these modifighters!
I love these videos only kind i can find
Since 2007 MASK is part of the GI Joe lore being GI Joe R&D division and as such depending on the continuity may or may not exist with Transformers
I loved Tenkai Knights always wanted to try how to figure out how to intermix the parts like helmets with legos
I HAD MECARDS BEFORE,I LOVE THEM,REEEEE,i had a green and white one,idk which ones those were
It's still surprising that Streetwise is a name for one of the Hot Wheels Modifighters at one point. It was originally a name for one of the Protectobots from the Transformers before the trademark was lost.
Finally after 1 decade I’ve finally found the Lego brick that turns into a mini fig🥹
2:12 for me, MASK has a bit more like Tokusatsu vibe. Like, Kamen Rider especially, while the masks or helmets themselves aren't usually the thing that causes the shifts and change with whatever gimmick is used. Also the cubes turning into animals gives Zyuohger
Will you ever talk about tobot it's a south Korean toy series and cartoon series which has cars that turn into robots with keys ( the reboot uses phones now)
It's one of my favourite transforming toy series so hope you do talk about it thx
Dicelings look really cool
Jake does Ultraman Egg toys count? The premise is simple an egg that could transform's into an Ultraman or a Kaiju .You should include it ur next video for this series
Tenkai knights had some of the most useful MOC pieces I have ever seen. I don’t care if it’s not purist, double sided studs are so handy
Can't believe we got 3 episodes deep without mentioning the transformable gundams like Zeta or ZZ
Didn't even knew that the Tenkai knights people also colaborated with How To Train your Dragon and Pokemon.

We have another toylines/animated shows transformers knock-off from Korea:
-
-
1 - Robocar Poli: A toddlers show about police vehicles with eyes and mouth (like Pixar's Cars franchise) who are able to transform into robots.
-
-
2 - From the same creators of Robocar Poli, we have Super Wings: A toddlers show about planes with eyes and mouth (like Diney's Plane franchise) who are able to transform into flying robots.
-
-
3 - Byclons or Biklons or Biclons or Byklons (I never remember exactly the correct writing for this toyline's/show's name). In this show, bikers (yeah, bikers, like mountain bikers or speed bikers), pedal special bikes wich are capable to enter in animal robots and the bikes turns into the robots controls/cockpit(???). I don't know much more, but they are from the same creators of Tobot.

4 - I don't know if it counts, but South Korea has his on version of Power Rangers/Super Sentai called Miniforce.
NGL some of the new Tobot toys from 2023 and 2024 are better in quality than some studio series transformers
@ADas-vj3ib yep, I agree with you.
@@CanalAleat ngl transformers would be cooked if Tobot expanded to markets where transformers are sold.
Your the reason I got in to transformers I watch the old live Live action movies with my dad and I never really got in to it Till
I found your videos.😊
Yes! you mentioned Mecard!
