Hi Gary, I bought the exact same model in April 2011 from Home Depot. Used for a few hours maybe five maximum to trim some holly bushes I had. I tried to use it in April 2012 wouldn’t start. Made sure I had the right gas mixture. Changed the spark, plug, New carburetor, new fuel hoses bought one Pac-Man wrench $7.00 to adjust the carburetor. Thanks to the USA EPA. It still would not run properly kicks off a little then quits been pulling on it for 11 years maybe next year it will run properly Ryobi stop selling these damn things I believe around 2015 I wonder why? P.S. GOOD LUCK!
Hi Gary ,I picked the someone someone was trowing away, That was back in 2007, Never found the time to work on it, I mean, I tryed one or two times Had spark I knew,It was a carb Problem, Well now I,m disabled, And have time, 15 years later At lease I did not throw it out, But any way after going through my bag of 2 stroke carbs I found one I thought would work and it did cleaned real good, first pull started right up runs and sounds great, Just thought I would share it with you.
That's a shame Gary as you done a good job on that, good tip about carb cleaner damaging rubber it's the same with brake cleaner it swells slider pin rubbers and boots. When you mentioned wind I thought you were going to say you had a curry last night 😆
Hi Gary seeing you do this reminded me I'd got one so dug it out my prime bulb felt hard but I put bit of fuel in air box it started second pull but stops the bulb stays empty when I push it it squeeks it's got three fuel pipes black one gose in tank with filter on that goes to carb then one like gose to another filter so if no fuel in build dies that mean a hole in it
All my ryobi’s have a foam filter. If I’m not mistaken, it’s not rectangular but rather diamond or trapezoidal. Also, you might check the spark resistor (muffler). Sometimes they clog. I take a propane torch and get them red hot to burn the gunk out.
There should be a foam air filter and these are known for stripping the head bolts and not starting well after that's happened same with the strimmers I personally won't work on anything Ryobi any more there not worth the hassle

It looked like you could see water settled in the bottom of the bottle from the old fuel.
Cut a sponge filter to size to fit, it should have One
