    Hi Tom had my trimmer 4 years now still as good as new when I use mine the ppe I where is a bump cap as well as safety glasses because the trimmer does throw up stones that cap has saved me a few times

      Mine's still running great. In fact, I smashed a greenhouse pane last week when the strimmer chucked a big stone out from the edge of the lawn!!

    are you a commercial gardener , ? NICE ONE how much did you pay for it ? seems to be 50% less noise than a petrol 4 stroke ........ I hate the noise of strimmers plus their is those fume s !

      Hi, sorry for the late reply. Yeah, I have a small lawn care business. I can't remember exactly how much I paid, although it was fairly newly released model when I took the plunge- here's the amazon link if you're interested amzn.to/2W5KgfM . Less noise, weight, starts straightaway with no fuel costs or engine maintenance. It's the lazy man's option.

      @@tomreviews9668 sure knocks the price up when you have to buy the battery and charges around another £ 160 errrrr

    just bought this strimmer and now looking to buy the battery and charger , do you use the makita battery pack of a 3rd party , plus will buy a blower as well

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668  5 років тому

      I own 2 genuine Makita 4.0Ah batteries and a singe Makita charger (linked in the description box if you want to see). I cannot comment on the performance of third party/unbranded battery packs as I've never owned them. I am also interested in the blower DUB362Z, but other reviewers state battery consumption is high.

    can you show how to change the cable , used this strimmer and seems good but ran out of cable and half way thru the cable only came out of one hole but still cut grass

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668  5 років тому

      Rethread existing line if still long enough or replace with new if near the end. To replace, I cut a 2 metre length, fold in half. insert the folded halfway point onto the slot on the central rim of the spool and wind it on (both ends of line following the SAME direction, each in their own track. insert spool into the larger cover piece and poke the last part of each end through guide holes in this. Clip spool and cover together before it all escapes!

    Can you use this to cut weed too?

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668  5 років тому

      Of course. As shown, it can cut long grass and most weeds. Makita also supply a brushcutter head for thick undergrowth/weeds, but this is sold as an extra.

    what cable did you buy for the makita ?

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668  5 років тому +1

      I used Stihl trimmer line as its fairly durable, but any line 2.0, or 2.4mm will be ok.

    hello , what is the run time with 4.0 amp battery ?? in first , seconde or full power ? thx

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668  5 років тому +1

      As you've seen, this model takes two at a time (36V). I often use second speed which has lasted me maybe just over an hour of almost continuous use. Would be slightly more/less in slow, or full power mode. Its not an exact science as consumption will be affected by grass/weed length and harshness, as well as cord type used on the spool causing drag resistance. Frankly, it will handle work in a medium sized garden with ease long before needing to recharge.

    Does anyone know the run time?

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668  2 роки тому

      It's not an exact science as it has three power settings, and will also depend on how hard the work is. Mine lasts most of the day on power 2 with light/medium use, working on 2x 5ah batteries.

      @@tomreviews9668 Is that like 2hours worth of weed whacking?

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668  2 роки тому

      @@FollowJesusNotME 2x 5ah should do around 1.5hrs full on, continuous strimming. If you're doing this commercially, or just have a large property, I'd still strongly recommend you invest in 2x sets of batteries (so 4 in total). Keep one set fully charged and you're be fine.
