    I have had one of these for a couple of years and I think I understand WHY you have had a problem. Before drilling - YOU MUST PULL THE MAGNETIC HEAD COMPLETELY FORWARD AS FAR AS IT CAN GO OVER THE HEAD OF THE SCREW. Only then should you start drilling as the screw head is safely locked in place by the magnetic hood. If - as you did - you just use the magnet to pick up the screw and then start screwing you have failed to pull the hood forward to correctly lock the screw head in place. Hence you get movement and wear which you would have avoided if it was fully locked before all screwing.

    Thanks for the review. Looking at this type of tripoint ladder for my sons garden. The only negative for me is the lack of vertical adjustment on the two front legs. If your garden is relatively flat this shouldn't be too much of an issue. Cheers.

    One problem I have noticed, and confirmed from your video, is that the laser line is blocked by the black plastic sawdust shroud when the saw is dropped to it's cutting depth. The laser is fine to align with your cut when the saw is up, but as you lower it the shroud cuts it off - watch the video at 17:00 onwards and you'll see what I mean. Obviously if your workpiece is secured that won't be an issue, but it does mean you have to line it all up, cut, then check after the cut that the edge of the cut aligns with the line of the laser after the cut has been made, rather than seeing any error during the cut. Probably not a big issue, but it's disconcerting when you first notice it. Aside from that, the only problem I have seen with the saw is that it does throw sawdust around rather than collecting a lot of it. The bag does need emptying a lot though, so it does work. Best advice, buy a cheap blower as well, and a dustpan and brush.

      the Laser it’s just for reference it’s saves time when positioning your cutting marks. It’s really helpful to aligning with a angle mark when fitting skirting boards… always check yours cut line with the blade teeth and laser just for reference

    Very good comprehensive, look at the DRT. Thank you! I’ve also watched your strap LOL video which was helpful indeed having not actually use the router ever before and bought the same kit as you have. When is part two out? I think that Makita should be sending you the dust extraction kit, so you can do a review of that as well. (I also use my vacuum cleaner, Charles rather than Henry., at least it’s blue like the Makita stuff a little bit ;-))

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668 2 роки тому

      It's not an exact science as it has three power settings, and will also depend on how hard the work is. Mine lasts most of the day on power 2 with light/medium use, working on 2x 5ah batteries.

    • @FollowJesusNotME

      @@tomreviews9668 Is that like 2hours worth of weed whacking?

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668 2 роки тому

      @@FollowJesusNotME 2x 5ah should do around 1.5hrs full on, continuous strimming. If you're doing this commercially, or just have a large property, I'd still strongly recommend you invest in 2x sets of batteries (so 4 in total). Keep one set fully charged and you're be fine.

    hi again Tom, very good video. You mention that you adjusted the laser. I found the nut for moving the laser left and right, but is there a way of aligning it with with the 90 degree cut? The laser is not in line with the square line I mark on a board. Hope this makes sense. Many thanks again, JonB.

    • @tomreviews9668
      @tomreviews9668 2 роки тому

      The bracket that holds the laser can only adjust left/right. It can only face at the same trajectory as the saw arm and blade. Use the plastic square provided to check alignment between saw blade and fence. I would go by this first, rather than the laser. The laser should confirm the same as explained above. If one edge of your board is out, so is the 90 degree mark you took from it, giving you a false reading. You may have to experiment to conclude which one is lying to you.

    • @mr.arcticson4076

    From the wear on the shoulder of the driver bit, it looks likes it may be just too short. The manufacturer probably keeps this length as short as possible so that you don't have to manually push the magnet onto each screw. Mount the bit in your impact and spin the bit against a round file to take a little off that shoulder. That should give you the bite you need.
