The lock on the back of the gt3 rim you mentioned is actually an Allen key. It is for the set screw that you needed before they offered it with the QR. I use it all the time when switching rims. It’s just there for storing the key when not in use. Awesome video. I will be doing this soon.
great review dan as always
good video man as always.
But is time for a few races on the channel :) time to time it doesn't hurt.
Great video man. These kinds of videos really serve the community. Thank you!
I’ve had my Fanatec McLaren GT3 wheel for 3 months and some of the buttons randomly stop working...including the paddles. I’m really nervous about my DD2.
it could be just because of bent pins if you want my humble opinion . have a look at those pins if straight or not
or as the dude said, just sell the rim to me (kiding :) ) or maybe not
Raising your monitor and moving it closer will make the screen higher! I've just been playing with both the screen higher and lower than the base of the wheel and it's so much nicer having it lower than the base as all the dashes of cars line up through a round wheel. It's not as noticeable on the McLaren rim but definitely in a round rim.
Dan... Getting broken McLaren rim used, is brilliant! I just hope there aren't EBay warriors that regularly watch you. If not, then this mod would possibly cost $100 to $150 less than what you paid. Evil grin.
And yes. The pins breaking is a common complaint with Fanatec's McLaren rim. Towards the end of its production run, Fanatec sold them with the upgraded quick release. I'm not sure if that fixed the pin issue, but I also don't remember seeing the rim listed on Fanatec's website since it's update.
Hey Dan. Nice video. Looking to go the same route. Does this adapter allow you to use any Fanatec wheel or just that Mclaren GT3 wheel?
Dude dang i really almost ordered one of those nrg quick releases from Amazon, i was really really close!
But I'm glad you liked this wheel, it's one of my favorites, especially with gloves! But i haven't tried mine yet with the mod. I still have to get a usb extension to run the cable. I really wish they had an option for the rj11 6p connection instead.
But yeah awesome video bud!
Yeah it was complete garbage... You haven't used it yet??? Dude I know there is a Bestbuy or walmart near you lol. They have them on the shelf! What you waiting on? LOL
@@DanDiMaggio honestly just time! And we joined a ufc gym by us and when I'm not sore as hell im working or doing things around the house lol... Adulting sucks. Hahaha
This is a great video, Dan. I am curious, this mod makes it so you cannot use SimCommander, do you think the trade off is worth it?
Hi, this quick realease can be used also for the Moza r9 base , with Fanatec McLaren wheel. Thank’s
Hey Dan! Can you kidnly lead me to where I can get instructions to remove the stock quick release on my Accuforce?
Or is it so simple you can explain here. Is it just an allen key and boom? I bought a B-G quick release from SRM.
Man that rig is shaking like crazy. Get yourself a good 8040. BTW does the clutch work with the adapter?
I think flex at the wheel is largely irrelevant. Zero flex at the pedals is critical tho.
@@alphalobster8021 No, it is relevant. Flex of the wheel mounting/rig acts as a damper spring,
causing FFB to feel more muddy and less precise
The monitor is mounted on 8040 though 🤣
Can you share your SC4 setting with rfactor2? My AccuForce should arrive in the next days. Thanks
Did you find a different quick release?
Hey Dan, sell that plug to someone who may be able to fix their wheel and help a fellow simracer.
Great video Dan. Later
true!
Don't throw that Fanatec wire loom away man...!!!
Those are actually very much sought after when using other "Sim Racing Machines" adapters. I actually have a "Sim Racing Bay" OSW and they supply an adapter yoke that allows you to use Fanatec rims without the extensive MOD you've shown here. Folk like myself would love to have a spare unit like what you're about to trash...!!!
Do us all a favor and Ebay the thing...!!! ;-) Thanks...!!!
srb adapter only works on osw dd, not accuforce. also, it has nothing to do with electronics, it is just a male fanatec-like qr.
Hi Dan, I was planning to do this conversion, do you had a preferencial price or something? I quoted something like 160 dolars for it. That rim looks nice, I boutgth the pro accuforce but I kind of regreting that now, that looks so nice!!
Why this NRG quick release do not work? Is this 10 spheres model like the original B-G quick release?
You should've ordered the "no qr bolting direct to wheel base" from Sim racing machines?
Personally I'm waiting for the DD1 to be in regular stock. Might take time but by the time I save up, the market will have calmed down. I'm not a fan of taking things apart and rebuilding them. I like plug and play and I'll wait.
Dan how is it?most important how is your cabel!cause rj12 is pile of crap break 5 times :)
Dan, why you bought the NRG quick release? As far as i know (and that is the only thing i bought from them), simexperience uses the B&G Quick release.
I bought my first QR from them because of the pcb's they used for the electronics of the steering wheels.
The pictures in their shop still showed the pcb's at that time, but they ditched that system, so i ended up with a QR without pcb's. 😖
I solved that problem by buying the pcb on the wheelside from SRM. When i told Simon about my problem, he hooked me up with an original hubside-pcb he had laying around. Graet guy he is. 👌
But all of my next QR's i have bought are B&G's. SRM sell them too.
Dan, what monitor/tv are you using and what tv stand is that are you happy with the combo? I need advice on what to get I am using 50” tv on an entertainment center now but want to get the tv closer
What you are seeing here is part of my Triple Benq 3200R setup. Monitors are 32" curved 144 hz. Mounted in a triple setup they are about perfect. For a single screen I would prefer at least an ultrawide aspect ratio. These are standard 16:9. I accidentally busted one of my screens so I am running only a single until I replace the broken one. The monitor stand is from Sim Labs. It is made out of 80/20 and it is the best stand I have ever used. I have the two side arm mounts removed right now but it is very sturdy even with three large monitors. I am strongly considering going with the samsung super ultra wide to replace my triples. whichever monitor you go with try to get a high refresh rate (ie. 120/144 or better) make sure it is VESA mount compatible as well if you intend to mount it to a stand like this.
I was thinking of going with a single 49” ultra wide myself do you think I should couple that with sim lab monitor stand would that be pretty decent combo in your opinion?
Hey Dan, I’m receiving my wheel next week. Did you have to drill extra holes or different holes for your wheel to mount to the gt Omega stand?
Hey Kurt. Which wheel are you mounting to the Stand? Fanatec, Thrustmaster & Logitech will bolt right up but if you are mounting something else it may take some modification.
Accuforce V2
Ok yeah I did. It actually had 2 holes up front that fit perfectly but I had to drill for the rear two holes. Pretty easy job though. Took about 10 minutes. I made a template out of paper so they were right when I drilled.
Thank you for the info!@@DanDiMaggio
Sim Racing Source is there a lot of flex with this cockpit and the AccuForce ? I have the same cockpit and have an AccuForce v2 ordered so I was curious
Hi, how did you adapt the fanatec pedals to AccuForce Pro V2?
Pedals are plugged directly into pc through usb
@@DanDiMaggio Thanks Dan!!! so the pedas cames with the usb adapter or I have to buy it? Thanks again!!
@@briansmith1098 yes it comes with both so you can run it either way!
@@DanDiMaggio Thanks again, I'm learning just by watching your channel.
Dont throw away that wheel connector, ill buy it from you so i can have it as a spare.
Seeing your DD wheel and then looking at my G 27 which mind you has been a very good wheel for me , can put you in a dream state the kind of dream I saw in a commercial the other day where a father hands the keys to a nice BMW to his son and says , well ? what are you waiting for ? go ! so the son gets in the drivers seat with a this I can't believe it look hits the throttle throws him self in to the back of the seat but he's not moving so he hits the throttle again and into the back of the seat he goes again only this time he awakes from his dream state to a big woman giving him the Heimlich Maneuver and the lady says you o.k. ? we thought you were gunna go ! and the look he had on his face was that of someone in a dream and waking up to a reality night mare that he was not sitting behind the wheel of a new BMW that his father gave him but their is a cashew sitting on his desk now . I just hope I don't wake up now cause I'm still dreaming about having a DD Wheel in my hands .
Surprise surprise people are readily charging near 350 dollars for these rims
Sorry factory default rim isn't good!If buy accuforce spend more a bit money and get momo!I replaced my factory rim with OMP superquadro ffb way better with it!
Nice video. You really need to invest in a better rig. All that shaking on your rig makes the dd lose so much feeling.
I know you're having fun being a sim racing mechanic, but are you ever gonna be a driver again? Lol
Super poor value. You can get a custom built f1rim, your choice leather or alcantera, any color buttons and any color leather for 320.00 usd shipped. I would never go through all that for a toy f1. Great tutorial though Dan. 👍
From who?
Travisthe3rd simline Gt ebay
Awesome thanks man. Seems like the prices have risen, have you used this wheel?
Travisthe3rd no I haven’t. Not the one in the video
@@FordEntertainmentGroupFEG i'm sorry, i meant have you used the simline gt
