The media should've given him his moment..... i mean really
Seriously. What the Yanks did with Mariano was perfect. Papi deserved to be alone out there, not surrounded by these photographers.
Galactic123
I hate the Papi-razzi
*Ba dum tss*
The media is always going to go where it can. Blame the Red Sox or Fenway security for not getting on top of it and having security forbid anyone else on the field. David Ortiz deserved his moment with Red Sox fans and the fans with him (Yankee fan here)
Facts that’s no respect
That’s their job
Farewell, Papi. You were a gigantic pain in the ass to us Yankee fans over the years, but damnit if you aren't one of the greatest clutch hitters in the history of the game. Have a happy retirement and eventual trip to Cooperstown.
Hunter Lewis it's ironic u say that when ARoud is the Biggest Juicer of All Time. Ok ok, 2nd Biggest. Gotta Put Bonds at #1
Hunter Lewis Even though he never juiced
Hunter Lewis Ortiz will get in the hall no matter what
Nick Perez if Bonds and Pete Rose can’t get in then Ortiz has no chance.
Tommywood well bonds still can get in he just hasn't yet. The only reason Pete isn't in is because baseball said he couldn't. Papi will get in and sadly bonds probably will as well.
All class from a Yankees fan since 1977. Best of luck to him and his family.
stevedrums best of luck to you and the Yankees great to meet a nice fan, Yankees looking like they're going to be really good the next few seasons I look forward to us fighting for the easy together again
Hey, I was pretty smoked when Mariano said goodbye.. I hear ya.
Lifelong Red Sox Bostonian

It would have been better if all the cameras didn't go with him.
Yeah man, don’t you just hate the PAPIrazi?
They should have let him have his moment!
Without cameras you wouldn't be able to see this.
@@NTomlin575 I’m all for taking photos and recording. But I’m not a fan of them not giving his curtain call and allowing him to be alone between the lines
@@NTomlin575 what are you talking about no one followed jeter
Die hard Yankees fan and I have nothing but the utmost respect for Big Papi. It meant a lot to see Boston honoring Mo and Jeter when they retired and I was glad to see New York to the same for Ortiz. My hat is off for Ortiz for everything he is as a player for what he does on the field and all he does off of it. A great man and a real hero to the city of Boston. The Sox-Yankees rivalry won't be the same without great players like Ortiz and Jeter on both sides and I can only hope we see new players and faces fill the void. But no body can replace Ortiz. I will miss him and wish him nothing but the best in his retirement
clikcerticker I will never forget him saying "THIS IS OUR FUCKING CITY" after what happened in BOS! That was a very powerful message, and I respect that very well! From, a former NYY fan.
To both of you, from a die hard Red Sox fan: Thank you ❤️
Not a true Yankees fan 😂
Michael Jacoby So if I talked about how Derek Jeter is a stand up guy, I’m not a true Red Sox fan? 😂😂
He, Jeter and Mariano made the rivalry of that era great. I hated Jeter and Mariono, but also had a lot of respect for them. They were good guys, but they were faithful great Yankee players. Those are the one's you hate the most, but also respect the most. Those three are gone :(
This still makes me so sad
Tyler I'm a Yankee fan and this made me sad.
😥
I'm watching this after he got shot and I'm crying rn
Same :(
Me too bro
Did he end up dying from it

As a Yankees fan I have so much respect for David. A true class act
Hunter Lewis 🖕🏻
When i was a middle school student, i watched his play. That was 2004 ALCS. I didn't know him and MLB at that time. But my first experience of MLB was ALCS and David Ortiz's clutch moments. From this, I become a big fan of BOS and Big Papi. I respect to him and Papi will be a Hero in my heart. GOOD JOB ! My hero . From A fan of South korea.
baseball brings everyone together around the world
He deserves that standing ovation
greatest rivalry in sports. as a yankee fan, i have the utmost respect for ortiz.
Boston hero😭😭😭😥😥😥
Boston Legend
And just like that, it's the end of an era.
It wasn't over. He will be in the Boston HOF and also MLB HOF!
Redbug 3 salty Yankee fans be like: no HOF steroids!!11!!
@@redbug3485 you called it
I say this as a Yankees fan, it was truly a sad day for baseball to watch this amazing man leave the game. I felt like a piece of my heart was leaving me. I didn't realize it until I was watching Big Papi leave the field for the last time. He pissed me off plenty a game. But he made the game so much better.
I got to meet him once when I was in high school at a Star Market. He was a very nice, wonderful man. It was an honor to meet him. I drove him crazy of how many photos I wanted to take with him. He saved the day in many playoff and regular season games. David, it was an honor to play for us Bostonians. Thank you for everything man for being one of the best cluch hitters in the history of the game.
This is why the redsox have the best fans in mlb just got swept no body left thats loyalty
Damn straight! Big Papi, forever Red Sox!
Loyally faithful to their good players, but they'll boo their own players when they play bad, worse fans in MLB imo
1. Wasnt a blowout so there was no reason to leave early 2. Who wouldnt want to see Big Papis last moment in the MLB. Stupid comment
Ryan Hardison almost every fan base does that lol.
i hate the red sox and i would have stayed for it.
This even makes a Yankees fan tear up watching. He was an amazing player and so much fun to watch. Nothing but respect for big papi
I’m an indians fan, but it was sad to see Big Papi go. One of the best DHs of all time and he will forever be immortalized at Fenway Park.
Sad to say goodbye to one of the best DH's in MLB history.
THE best DH in MLB history!!!
@@willvazz9611 Edgar Martinez is probably better

indeed
I always re watch david videos....please please get better soon
I miss seeing him in the batter’s box. Greatest DH the game ever had.
The 2013 alcs game 2 grand slam was incredible. Thanks for all the memories mr. Ortiz you are a class act
its gonna be hard watching Boston without big papi
Chris Harris
Boy do I got some news for you...
@@manakings8274 LMAO Seriously tho! Hopefully he has heard of Mookie Betts by now.
Now Pedroia too
@@andrewvasquez8963 well this aged well... 😂😂😂😂
I don't know anything about baseball but i love this guy
Red Sox fan here and we in Red Sox Nation love Big Papi and the future is NOW
the sad thing is I'm a Indians fan and I'm sad that we had to cause the end of one of my fav players of all to e😭😭
not really he destroyed us lol
and ramirez , who we used to have, dam that shit sucked haha
Obviously_ A_Stud that didn’t make any sense
Indians fan aswell, also he would have retired that season anyways
*
This man deserves way more than a cap wave. He was the reason anyone loved the Red Sox back then. I mean did you all see the one sign that said, “Thank You Papi you broke the curse!” This is timeless. He carried those early 2000 Championship teams and my favorite player. And I was a braves fan.
But you, know, what it was the perfect send off just like babe Ruth .
He gave us all so many memories, he is still missed
HALL OF FAME LETS GO!!!!
I never cried so hard in a long time until this moment. David Ortiz is and always will be my all-time favorite Red Sox player ever.
Can’t believe how long it’s been since he retired. This final goodbye is still super sad.
Forever Fenway. Love you Big Papi
Im a Angel fan, but he was one of the best ever ,
I am a die hard Yankees fan I have a lot of respect for the big papi
I'm a Yankees fan and I hit the like button

y como no llorar? tantos momentos buenos que nos dio este señor a los fanaticos del beisbol en general, yo soy fan de los yankees y Ortiz fue nuestra bestia negra pero aun asi lo admirare la vida entera
Waoooooo David is special man - God bless you brother
Que grade ere tú ere un orgullo latino y de nuestro país hoy tú está en una situación difícil jeova está contigo
Indians fan, but was emotional watching this
You are up there next to Babe Ruth. One of the Greatest of all time. Thanks for the Great Memories Big Pappi! And yes I cry every time I see this.
The Babe And Ortiz On The Same Team Oh Man Nightmare Fuel For Pitchers
I love him. Honestly one of my favorite people ever .
Even doe I'm a blue jay fan! Ortiz you are awesome
Todo un lider y un grande en la ciudad de Boston y en RD. Un caballo david.
Ortiz usted es un lider veterano y Campeon 🇩🇴 mi hermano y todo va salir bien eres fuerte y te vas a recuperar grasias a Dios. 💥💥💥💥💥🎖🎖🎖🎖🎖🧨🧨🧨🧨🧨💥💥💥💥💥
Can no one doubt that that man is the greatest Red Sox player of all time no disrespect to any other Red Sox player but he beat the Yankees and lifted the curse Williams, Carl Yaz, no of them did that no to mention multiple titles
Why am I crying, I’m not even a Boston fan😭
Trust me when Chipper left the Braves I cried too! My hats off to you Ortiz, Fenway was good to you!
Big Papi is missed, congratulations on a great career and thank you to a great competitor - Yankees fan.
Yankees miss you as well, Big Papi. Even New York loves you and respects you.
I’m singing Sweet Caroline for this video. Our prayers go out for you David stay strong! 🙏 We ♥️ big papi! 🙏⚾️
Yankee fan, however one of my favorite players, I cried while watching this
#platanopower #mangupower Greatest dominican player of all time
I grew up watching the mid/late 2000s Red Sox with Mike Lowell, Youk, Manny, Pedroia and of course Big Papi. Little by little they got traded or retired but seeing big Papi retire he was the heart and soul of that team. Granted Pedoroia was still around it wasn't the same, that magic that team had was gone. I still feel like its just a team without a heart or spirit
I will forever be so grateful to this legend watching him play was such an honor love you Papi!!
May God always bless you and your loved ones. Thanks for bringing joy to so many and uniting all races, ages, religions, etc.. through sport and your humble character.. gracias hermano.
Best game I have ever been to so sad I watched him since day one #thankspapi
Anihmal you watched him when he was with the twins?
Marcha con gracia Dios algún día
Too emotional 😭 the king of clutch will be truly remembered
Was sad to see him retire, even though he's the sole reason my team lost in the 2013 World Series.
If only they would have just walked him instead of pitching to him...
I barely heard it on the radio omg noooo 😭 You were kicking Yankee fans in the ass. Miss you Big Papi. 😔
I am a New York Yankees fan, but I have to give him his credit. An excellent person with an excellent career. I thought it was hilarious that they saved the dugout phone he smashed with a baseball bat, and then give it to him and his retirement ceremony. Kudos Mr. Ortiz, well done. 👏
Thank you David Ortiz 🙏 😊
World class hero. Sooo much soul and heart in big papi.
I love this dude. I love what TB12 did for us but he would have been loved the same way if he stayed faithful to us. That is why Big Papi got the key to this city....🙏❤️
We love you big papi, thank you for all the memories
The best part about him is that he was arguably the best DH in the sport the year he retired. He didn't lose a single step by the end skill wise even at 40. He just couldn't play through pain anymore
dude played great in his late years. many others wish they had played this well this later in their careers.

Ese hombre dejó mucho que aprender a las generaciones 💎✅

I was there, as a CLE fan. Surreal experience, first time being at Fenway. Nothing but respect.
the clutchiest player ever
Ugh! Look at those photographers swarm around him, walking backwards as he moves, like a hungry pack of wild animals licking their lips as they surround their prey.
Not exactly but you get the idea

They're recording for posterity. So what?
Without question, a great ball player and a great man. Some of the lowest lows in my baseball life have been on the other end of a big crack from Ortiz’s bat. Even this old cynical yankee fan, can say thanks for the memories big papi
Un hombre de honor y gran corazón. Viva el gran big papi. Klk
Coming back here after the Red Sox best there personal win record. Ortiz must be proud
I remember going to this game. This was one of those surreal moments.
Dominican Repúblic we love you David Ortiz

saddest thing as a redsox fan we miss you
dominican pride! beloved in Boston
We love you Ortiz. We miss you
Great player, great person
I was at this game and I was 7 years old, all I knew was that he was good at baseball but now I know how much of an impact he made on the red Sox and baseball in generall
i remember his stat line was crazy, being 40 years old he probably could have played 2 more years. Its like he got better and more efficient with age
All Yankees fans should show respect to him
Wow did not expect to tear up to this
I admit I havent wayched the Sox since I got the pats but him leaving just couldnt watch
Dabi Diote bendiga dio esta contigo todo nosotros todoba salir bien
I'm a Sox Fan but DAMN I hate The Media being up his ass and not letting him have his Moment at Fenway with our Fans
Te amamos David, recupérate pronto
Thank you to my favorite Red Sox player of all time thank you

This is the happiest, saddest moment is MLB history.
