Finally I'm glad someone else said it. I really felt like I was alone in enjoying this series. Was it perfect? No. Was it bad? Also no. But I still smiled at certain scenes, and teared up at others. And I believed this could be Middle-Earth. So I'd call it a win
This shows biggest weakness is that its set in Middle Earth, feels like it wanted to be a generic high fantasy show but someone said "lets make it Tolkien". Heres hoping it can get its personality problems sorted.

Tom Shippey, the Tolkien scholar, was fired from the production for trying to warn them about polluting the lore. I doubt you're a shill, you don't have the viewership I'd expect if you were, which just makes this kinda sad. The show is absolutely woke, and if you need a lesson on what that means, maybe start with the DEI 'recommendations' from Vanguard and blackrock. You know, those two organisations that are the largest shareholders in virtually every major company?

I already mentioned Tom Shippey. Your dismissal of woke critics was lazy. Your suggestion that any depiction contains the cultural baggage of that era is equally lazy. While it at least contains a grain of truth, there is a big difference between adaptations that attempt to remain faithful to the source, and adaptations that intentionally insert the studios politics and ideology. Anyway, I'm glad you can still 'appreciate the attempt', but there was no failed attempt here. They got the result they set out to create. The only failure was in thinking that their army of bots and shills would compensate for the lack of quality.

Not so much mad that a girl can fight. More disappointed in how the whole fight made 0 sense. An entire, elite elven force could do nothing, but Galadriel didn’t even break a sweat while defeating the ice troll. That’s just the basic “you go girl!” vibe present in so many recent series and movies and it’s gotten so old so fast. If you enjoy that, good for you. It means you have a long list of series to watch. For me, I prefer series to at least attempt to make the story make sense.

If that was the case, there is my clarification. 'Woke' is not the cause of the series being bad. It's merely a symptom of the screenwriters who have no idea what they're doing and how to write a convicing character. Series can be 'woke' and high quality at the same time.
