My heat went out two years ago, no way do I have the $10,000 estimated to replace it. I use an electric insert in my fireplace and a space heater in the bedroom. It’s working wonderful for us.😊
Hahaha that's how my dog sleeps every night. On the end of my bed with one of the extra house coats or a throw blanket over her. Lol if I don't cover her with something she will want to get under my blankets lol. Nope
My gf and I live in a house built in 1910 and we use the original heater. It's an old coal converted to natural gas heater, vent is a big hole in the floor with a huge grate in the floor. For old as it is keeps 2 stories toasty warm for pretty cheap.
I used a kerosene heater for several years and it worked good in the cabin. Gotta be careful to never let it run out of fuel cause the fumes are deadly. Set it outside to turn off also.
I want to do that but unfortunately, we cannot get a permit to put one in our 1966 single wide. It’s also in a park so I don’t know if they will allow it.

Lucked out and got the last generator on the shelf in my price range. Was challenging but got though it. Best of luck Amanda
My house was built in 1980, and my gas furnace is the old style pilot light without a computer board and has a belt driven blower. So a few winters ago i came home to a cold house, turns out the pilot light went out, tried to light it, it would not stay lit, needed a new thermal couple. I had trouble finding one because of the so called supply chain issues left over from the pandemic. So I had to order it on back order, so I spent two nights without heat during sub zero temps. The next summer we had 110° plus heat and my 1980 central air conditioner would not cone on. I thought it was at the furnace being the issue, turned out no, the capacitor went in the unit sitting next to the house. Waited a week for that part. Since then I stock piled parts for my hvac system of the 1980’s era. Once I can afford to replace my system I will and maybe renovate the house a bit since it has never been renovated.
You mentioned putting a heater in the kitchen. Make sure you have at least two separate circuits in the kitchen. If you plug it in the circuit with the refrigerator or microwave, it will trip the circuit breaker because of an overload.Try to plug it into the least used circuit by the appliances. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Tape bubble wrap to your windows. Place your hand on the bubble wrap that's 9ver the window, then place your hand on an exposed window & you'll notice its 10X colder without.
If you absolutely have to use an extension cord it needs to be for a heavy duty appliance and should have its own dedicated outlet if at all possible. I don’t think a lot of people know this information and I believe it could potentially save homes and/or lives.
Oil-filled heaters are the most energy efficient. I have one in my basement because I had cats who were scared/refused to come upstairs and it got kinda cold down here at night. (Sadly, had to put the second one down yesterday so I guess I can unplug it.) The basement is mostly finished, so it’s not horrible but definitely cold and they were older.
Two space heaters will increase a monthly electric bill by anywhere from $80 to $150. I got a tower heater, a Lasko, and it did a credible job of keeping the temperatures between 60-72F despite daily subfreezing temperatures outside. While I was expecting my power bill to go up, I didn't expect THAT much. So I'm going back to using the gas furnace. I think it cost much less overall. 💵💵💵💵

A thermostat controlled wall mount propane heater is the way to go. Easy to install and you can get a 100 lb. tank at lowes. Once you feel the warmth and coziness of gas, you won't like the dry electric heat anymore.

I did have two 100 lb lp tanks with a conversion hose/regulator. I had it connected to my 500-gallon propane tank in the yard last summer making things much easier. I would never use an electric heater since they are power hogs, and the electric bill would be ridiculous.

Been living without a furnace in my mobile home about 5 years now. If it gets to bad camp out in your room with your heaters . I live in Texas but it gets cold especially how mobile homes can be drafty. Dont sell it short cause its small. The towers are nice . I have the one that looks like the old wood burning stove . I got mine at walmart and i use it in my living room and its perfect.
Yes we have done that! Last year we moved the bed into the living room However I have a update video Living Without Heat Mobile Home (Update) ua-cam.com/video/qvX8bJtQCHw/v-deo.html
Those digital infrared heaters usually go up to 90 degrees. You can set a timer on it and put in low, med, or high preset temps. I own 2 and they are powerful. I bought 2 from Boscovs on sale at $50 each. I've had them 3 years now. I usually use them if i have house heat on low and use them to rid the morning or evening chill b4 house heat kicks on. I also use them early winter cas i try not put house heater on until mid November. I figure by then, temps drop more. If my house heater goes on the fritz, im good with these. For a mobile home they are perfect.
Cut foam board to fit air vents from non-working central ac/heat system. It will stop the cold air that enters the house through the vents. Bought 2 Lasko heaters for my dw last year myself. Pleased with them.
I suggest a Lasko Oscillating Digital Ceramic Tower Heater for Home with Adjustable Thermostat, Timer and Remote Control, 23 Inches, 1500W, Silver for heating, if you're still serious about electric heating, knowing that your electric bill will shoot up. It still needed help from my Givebest space heater but they together kept two large rooms and two smaller rooms from 65F to 72F. Truthfully, it'd have been warmer if I hadn't had the Givebest on a plug in thermostat to help reduce energy cost. (I didn't want the house too hot and the bills too high.) You can get a cheap greenhouse thermostat for heating and cooling. They do a good job as long as the heater isn't digital like the Lasko, meaning it has to have a physical dial on it. All these things are cheaper on a certain well known shopping store online than the $300 heaters you were looking at instore. Good luck! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Aww, your dog and cat all snuggled up is so precious 🥹. One of my space heaters crapped out last night (in a room that doesn't connect to the rest of the house's heating system). It was 19 degrees last night, so I have to go get a new heater today 😅. I love your videos!
We have a tiny ceramic heater in the bathroom, and daily I get up and turn on water on the stovetop for humidity and 350 F on our oven, letting it vent for a bit (electric), and til afternoon, it's toasty in our second floor, facing a river that stays snow reflecting into our myriad of windows mostly covered by Roman Blinds Summers in VT are now short and hellish, but we're dang good with warmth in winter! (N. Central VT)
I picked up some small heaters on Amazon a few yrs ago that put out a lot of heat. I’m really surprised how well they work and they’re pretty inexpensive.
You know I had a power outage and was freezing cold, till my friend let me use his solar stuff a solar panel and power inverter that really works great I used my ceramic heater that is 1500watts and his solar stuff powered it up with no problems I stayed nice and warm I even cooked my food with it , now I have the same thing as he does only a bit more power a 600watt solar panel and a 6000watt power inverter oh and a 12volt car battery and when the power went out again I was still nice and warm and was able to watch TV and more, you can get this stuff on temu super cheap, but great stuff.
those radiator heaters are dangerous...i heat my house with electric heaters myself...each bedroom has a small square heater like you showed and we have a fireplace heater for the frontroom...they keep use warm all winter long😊
You get what you pay for when it comes to heaters trust me I paid a little more than I wanted to for a really nice one and it’s been serving well for the last five years every winter
@@LifeUnfiltered89 I did this about 2 years ago. No it ain't pretty but honey, I tell you what, I put duct tape on the moving blankets, then added grommets. Girl, no joke, our house has lots of drafts. Yes, it helps a LOT. I'm so grateful I did it. I could care less what it looks like. I know you know what I mean. Our house is super old. Love you so much sweetie. Please, both y'all HANG IN THERE. You'll get through this.
We are looking for 2 heaters.Ours were recalled that we bought last year due to they could catch on fire. Our house is made from a small metal building.I would love to have a mini split but can't afford it.
Honey, invest in a Mr. Buddy heater. Girl, I've spent SO MUCH money on these kinds of heaters and trust me, meh! I mean, I'm not forcing you to do so, but, we've had our Mr. Buddy heater and trust me when I say, it's been a lifesaver. Our home is old, old, older than yours. This heater, I love, love, love because Mr. Buddy just warms up really well. It also can have a fan attached to it as well. Also, they make 'fans' for it as well which radiates the heat better. It's saved our budget big time. Yes, runs on 1 lb tanks but they do make a refillable 1 lb tank as well. Which will save ya' money too. You can refill the tank with a 20 gallon tank. Makes it super cheap. As for lights, eh...lol I'm not putting our tree up this year due to too much going on right now for us.
Hey Amanda.. looks like I missed a video.. My sister and her husband doesn't have any heat in there rental home.. it's been that way for I don't know how long. Before their original landlord sold the property he cut them a deal and lowered the rent due to them not having heat. When he sow the property the landlord said she would look into getting the heat fixed but haven't did any of that yet and she turned around and raised the rent from four something a month to $600 a month smh
Professional HVAC contractors recommend the oil filled radiant space heaters. It’s a matter of safety. All other forms of heat are highly flammable electrically and sparks from hot elements.
With electric heaters, you have to look at the wattage settings of it. The maximum a 120 volt heater will be 1500 watts as this is all a typical wall outlet circuit can safely give you. Watts equals heat output with heaters. 1 watt equals 3.41 BTU/h so 1500 watts equals 5115 BTUs. No matter how it’s packaged, small or big like a fireplace, if it says 1500 watts max, you get 5115 BTUs. Thats it!!
the fireplaceone will heat not just livingroom but other rooms just depends on size of home i have a ranch home and heats both livingroom and kitchen and you can set it
My bedroom is over the garage so its cold in the winter. We have a taller oscillating heater. It says what degree it goes to. I think mine is 80 and goes down to 65. It heats my bedroom really nice
If you are ever in a pinch without heat you can heat a whole room using tea light candles and two ceramic flower pots. There’s tons of videos on these DIY heaters on UA-cam.
The IR heaters really do work well but do not come back on by themselves should you lose power. Pretty hard to heat a mobile home, lived in them as a kid. I can heat my garage with one oil filled heater on low, and it’s the old school kind with the knobs. The digital ones also do not come back on after momentary power outage. Good luck!
Homestead tessie used oil lamps to help heat theres. It would need to be in a safe place that cant be knocked over. Theres many hacks using Crisco. So you dont break the bank using so much electricity.
@@LifeUnfiltered89 it doesn’t usually take that long with Amazon, Walmart or Target, 1 or 2 days. If you needed right away, I get that. I have a very small place with no central heat. I always make sure I have two space heaters in case one goes belly up. I also have a camping heater in case my electric goes off. I always try to be prepared. This is not a criticism, I am just sharing what I do.
I was going to tell you about the Weatherization Program that each state has, it's funded through the federal government. My mom got help from it and they put in a new heating and air conditioning system in her house and windows and doors.
Electric heat sucks big time. At our last apt we only heated the LR and my bedroom. Our bill ran about 350 every month w/ heat set on 65*. I dont miss it. Where we are now it is natural gas which everyone says is the cheapest. We have never had it before. We moved in here at the end of February so we didn't have the whole winter. We paid maybe 400 thru to May.
I have no heat or AC in my trailer or installation in it. Can’t find anyone to help us out. It’s been very cold here and our pipes have frozen so no water on top of that. I’m done my heath can’t take no more.
Mr buddy heater $100.00 , 10ft fuel hose $40.00 , 100LB propane tank 100.00....then $140.00 Month for propane. Thats running the heater on low 24/7. I use this instead of a wood stove now. Also heater is wall mounted if you want
Sadly slum people sell trailers for cheap because they have many problems. I have been watching your other videos where you had to fix plumbing too! I think you guys are on the right track just remember this is a first home. You want to build it up to make it better but not perfect. My wife and I did this with our first mobile. Now I live in a stick built but I had 2 mobiles before this. Please don’t sleep with that new heater on. Ceramic yes but I understand you needed an extra source of heat. Get extra blankets too. Go fund me?
Electric resistance heat almost always has a coefficient of performance of 1. Every watt of power, produces a watt of heat. Get a heater, with an anti tip over switch, and preferably a blower, rated around 1500 watts with a UL listing and call it a day. All the rest is marketing and aesthetics.
Did someone gift you a lot of the items on your Amazon wish list? I went to see what I could do but the item I’m looking to get is gone and it’s a lot smaller than I remember lol

I have a update video you should check it out
One thing I do to push the air is to put a fan behind the heater. It will blow the air and make it more comfortable faster!

Have you checked with the county to see if they have heaters to give out. Last year our HHS office was given a bunch to give away.
They are out out! Even the program couldn’t offer us one
(N. Central VT)
I live in a mobile home. Sometimes i only use my dehumidifier. Removing the moisture makes the house less damp and warm.

I picked up some small heaters on Amazon a few yrs ago that put out a lot of heat. I’m really surprised how well they work and they’re pretty inexpensive.
Lol Violet is adorable 💜 ❤. Love the polar bear. My dogs would think the door stoppers were toys for them. ❤😊
Surviving America.
There are window units with a heater and AC, perfect for a mobile home.
Our windows are the thin ones but I will look into it
You know I had a power outage and was freezing cold, till my friend let me use his solar stuff a solar panel and power inverter that really works great I used my ceramic heater that is 1500watts and his solar stuff powered it up with no problems I stayed nice and warm I even cooked my food with it , now I have the same thing as he does only a bit more power a 600watt solar panel and a 6000watt power inverter oh and a 12volt car battery and when the power went out again I was still nice and warm and was able to watch TV and more, you can get this stuff on temu super cheap, but great stuff.
those radiator heaters are dangerous...i heat my house with electric heaters myself...each bedroom has a small square heater like you showed and we have a fireplace heater for the frontroom...they keep use warm all winter long😊
Those little electric fireplaces are usually great.
Yes 🙌🏻 we had one we used all last winter helped that it had a little fan!

You get what you pay for when it comes to heaters trust me I paid a little more than I wanted to for a really nice one and it’s been serving well for the last five years every winter
I’m just in a low income so I have only so much to work with but I totally agree with you 100 percent! That’s with electronic stuff too
I love egg nog it’s the best ❤ We got to have our egg nog ❤ Absolutely ❤ Merry xmas❤
Also grab a fan if u can,u put it in front of the heater, obviously not too close lol and it will circulate the heat for u a little better❤
Also, I know it sounds insane, you can put a moving blanket up over your window. Add grommets to it. It will help with the drafts big time.
Yes girl! I got what I call ghetto winter curtains. I love your support thank you 😊
@@LifeUnfiltered89 I did this about 2 years ago.
Also aluminum foil over all your windows will help to keep the drafts out and the heat in.

Get a carbon monoxide detector 💯.
@@A83-A83 Yes, I second this because it's always good to have and use as well.
I have a pellet stove. They heat up great. N are not that expensive. Look into eletric fireplace too not bad in prices . praying 🙏 for yall
I was thinking of getting one but I’m not sure how permits work in a mobile home this old. I will look into it!
Thank you for supporting friend

Thats it!!
the fireplaceone will heat not just livingroom but other rooms just depends on size of home i have a ranch home and heats both livingroom and kitchen and you can set it
Those brite light are VERY bright! AirPort like!
My bedroom is over the garage so its cold in the winter. We have a taller oscillating heater. It says what degree it goes to. I think mine is 80 and goes down to 65. It heats my bedroom really nice
Its on amazon for 58 bucks. Its been an awesome buy for us and heats the room nicely
Get plenty of blankets & Throw blankets!

If you are ever in a pinch without heat you can heat a whole room using tea light candles and two ceramic flower pots. There’s tons of videos on these DIY heaters on UA-cam.
You have to be careful with candles they put off carbon dioxide. So make sure you have a detector to be safe.

I used oil lamps when we lived off grid. I’ll see if I can thrift some
Stay warm !
Limited products in a tiny town? What about online, it ships directly to you?
I looked wasn’t going to wait 1-3 weeks for the heater I planned to buy
Amazon had the same heaters same price
@@LifeUnfiltered89 it doesn’t usually take that long with Amazon, Walmart or Target, 1 or 2 days. If you needed right away, I get that. I have a very small place with no central heat. I always make sure I have two space heaters in case one goes belly up. I also have a camping heater in case my electric goes off. I always try to be prepared. This is not a criticism, I am just sharing what I do.
I purchased a 30 gallon propane tank a cylinder that connects to it ...heat gallore...my heater went out on my trailer

Get some hot water bottles, they can be wrapped up and put under the pets beds
I’ll look for them on Amazon.
I put carpet padding under my bed . The cold wont reflect off the floor then to under my bed

I was going to tell you about the Weatherization Program that each state has, it's funded through the federal government. My mom got help from it and they put in a new heating and air conditioning system in her house and windows and doors.
Yes this heater is temporary I have them coming to install a heater and help with other things I will do a update
Update when they come install it
Pretty much any heater that is 1,500 watts will do. Get warm soon!

@LifeUnflintered nice! Been running a diesel heater for over a year where I'm at. Love it!
1,500-Watt Oil-Filled Radiant Electric Space Heater with Thermostat at homedepot $54.97
@@kathyleighton9091 wow isn’t it crazy pants 👖!

We sell propane at my work for 2.99 a gal cheapest in town. I love them they work great 😊
Sadly slum people sell trailers for cheap because they have many problems.
Go fund me?
Truths! I will tell my husband to read this as well. Thank you new friend

How are the curtains working out?
I think it helps!
Put clear bubble wrap on the windows. Will let daylight still in and insulate the windows.
An oil heater is better i got mine at loves or home depot, less energy on your electric and puts out more heat and doesnt trip fuses
Did someone gift you a lot of the items on your Amazon wish list? I went to see what I could do but the item I’m looking to get is gone and it’s a lot smaller than I remember lol
