Excellent ' representation ' of the philosophy of Schopenhauer. As someone who is interested in both philosophy and Quantum Physics I was delighted to discover that both Schopenhauer and Schrödinger loved Advaita Vedanta my favourite philosophy .
Schopenhauer loved the Upanishads and this is surprising in a way because at that time his access to them was very limited . E =🕉️

Another facet of philosophy grasped in a nutshell. Resonates with my misanthropy. Not all suffer equally in 'quality'
or quantity, but I have experienced more than my share. I want to live because I have what I think are a couple
writing projects that might edify a few souls or the masses possibly; but I also would like to end the suffering that
I experience at every turn, and being homeless living out of vehicle, having vertigo episodes, even weather and temp
become circumstantial threats to existence -- I don't know if I can make a way to survive. It may also be true that
human life has no more meaning than that which we give it, that we make of it. Suicide, I have surmised, is a concession
to injustice, but this intuition may be relative to having been victimized and not de minimus, but in extremis. I would
wield the pen like a sword, but it may have been better to wield the sword rather than be passive when injustice was
perpetrated against me so many times throughout life. Some who suffer displacement in extremis -- like Viktor Frankl
or Solzhenitsyn, Hannah Arendt to lesser degree -- render their experiences via intuition, into contributory writing. I
would too, but I may not make it to be truthful with you.

Dear @rockyfjord5338 , I hear your struggles, and I want to acknowledge your strength in facing such challenging circumstances. Many renowned individuls have overcome adversity, such as J.K. Rowling, who went from being a single mother on welfare to one of the world's best-selling authors. Your writing projects have the potential to inspire and rsonate with others, just as the works of Viktor Frankl have. Remember, every step forward is a victory. Keep believing in yourself, and know that your resilience can lead to remarkable stories of triumph. If you ever need support, reach out to those around you or seek professional assistance. You're not alone on this journey. Stay strong! and just start ... and thank you for sharing

    Random responses to things said:
Firstly, energy appears to violate the axiom of causality since it cannot be created nor destroyed, it appears to have been eternal for eternity; the uncaused cause.
Next, some sources say that time is non-linear and that the past, present and future, are happening all at once, therefore, according to these sources, the past and future do exist.
Materialism died in 2022 with the nobel prize in physics; so far the world as will and representation sounds accurate. ^_^
When people derive knowledge, that knowledge is not of the world, but of the mind.
Perhaps, consciousness is of the world of the Will, since it has not been located.
Ive never felt a feeling of shame after sex.
Schopenhauers assumption that sex, being the will of the Will, is therefore primitive or animalistic, is highly subjective. Sex as the will of the Will could be, conversely, interpreted as the highest goal, something like the Will of God.
Not all love is sexual instinct, i love my best friend, and i have never had a desire to have sex with her; ive known her for over 20 years.
Lastly, why does he think that love to you would be the same as love to him?

"The philosopher, Arthur Schopenhauer, was walking down a lonely street. Buried in thought, he accidentally bumped into another pedestrian. Angered by the jolt and the apparent unconcern of the philosopher, the pedestrian shouted, “Well! Who do you think you are?”
Still lost in thought the philosopher said, “Who am I? How I wish I knew."

"The World as Will and Representation in Consciousness", in my humble opinion. The will is not completely unknown but Consciousness is.

What would Schopenhauer say about homosexuality? (It doesnt lead to procreation...)

    • @mindphilo

@Mr00000111 Schopenhauer lived in a different cultural and historical context, and societal attitudes towards homosexuality have evolved significantly since then.

I suspect he'd see it as a revolt against the will. Likewise contraception, abortion, and all forms of non-procreative sex.

And what philosophy wants to know is answered in religion! Why we are here is infact the effect of a cause what is this cause!? When we know that material world is an effect of a cause! The cause is a divine will and our being is an effect of this divine will so it means that the will means the divine will has an overwhelming profound effect on the being of this material world means this material world has a very tiny importance and value in front of this will means that actuality lies within the divine will and this divine will has a reality beyond the material reasons so there is definitely a metaphysical world exists at all and for us we have a desire to propagate our being in this material world but this desire ultimately leads us towards metaphysical world by getting us exhausted in persuate of continuing this material life on this planet but this effort this desire brings us to the metaphysical world where we reach through facing the death materially but meet another world with our complete senses this world happens to be eternal as according to our desire to stay forever and we get it in the effort to perpetuate our life on this planet by consuming and exhausting ourselves in love sex crime and piety!

Thank you for sharing your perspctive the intersection of philosophy and religion in understanding the purpose and meaning of our existence. Each individual's journey toward the metaphysical world is indeed shaped by diverse experiences and interpretations.

I gave up halfway through. Another one who thinks that reality, existence, the universe etc. are not real and unknowable. Ok then, by his own admission, nothing he says can be taken as true.

I don't think Schopenhauer ever suggested the world is not real. I don't think this video claims or implies he did. I believe, quite to the contrary, that Schopenhauer did claim to have solved the riddle of existence. Metaphysics, he thought, were obsolete after his philosophy.
