I have watched your channel for a very long time and never commented but i am now, shelving helps a lot go up not out. The difference between a Hoarder and a Collecter is shelving. On that note i have collected action figures for 30 so years and if you want to sell doubles i will buy, if not its ok. I put all of mine on wharehouse racks now built a 30x50 barn to house my collections in. My comics take up most of my space but now i am going to buy a 30ft shipping container to store the overflow of other items. I feel your pain on space never enough, good luck and now i will fade back in the background and watch.
@@splashpagecomics I am deeply honored to read your comments and to know that you have been watching and supporting our channel all of this time !!! Being a MIB collector is a real challenge. I’m more of a collector of contemporary 1/12 lines, and those are kept loose in plastic bins under the beds. However, I do try to keep the packaging for the import figures I buy like S.H. Figuarts, Mafex, figma, Storm Collectibles, etc., and that’s becoming a real problem. I’m also pushing 60 and have to consider the fact that I may be downsizing in the next 5 to 10 years. That sounds like plenty of time, but it goes by fast. I did go on a big eBay purge earlier this year, and that helped, but there’s a lot more work to be done, especially since I’m showing no signs of slowing down. I refuse to do offsite storage, but that’s a personal choice, because all of my figures are opened, even when I return them to their original packaging. You truly have a museum worthy collection. Have you thought about doing shelving? Not really display shelving, but maybe “warehouse” type shelving?
@@tomfin-wo5vc Downsizing is a real consideration that every collector should entertain as they get older, I’m 54 years old now and I have slowly started to stop spending more money on my toy purchases, it’s just a natural progression that 50 and 60 year old collectors understand. I am making provisions to pass my collection along when the time comes and definitely downsizing is a part of that process. I finally woke up one day and realized that collecting toys is a disease, no different from gambling or being an alcoholic. I sold off my collection and don’t regret it at all. The day comes for everybody.
@@Imjustsaying1966 Great point my friend, I guess anything can be looked at as a disease then. I believe it’s up to the individual to decide or determine that they are in fact being controlled by said disease or substance, and to seek help to rid themselves from the disease or substance that keeps them under constant stress and control. A substance abuse or addiction can defined by a person’s need of that substance or item, and when that need ultimately outweighs the need to pay rent, mortgage, car payment, food for family and self and overall welfare of others and one’s own self. I recommend that any that is suffering from this disease, to please seek help immediately. I am very happy to hear that you woke up and realized that your toy collecting had become a true disease and that you did something about it. I salute you my friend !!
It's funny, but yesterday i came across videos by collectors who address the question of when is enough, enough? What is, "Too Much?"
