for me they sort of transcended the whole genre with this album. i've never heard anything else like it, and i've listened to (and enjoyed) loads of other 'math rock' records. the music has a huge amount of emotional intensity and also the 'harmonic climate' is really unusual, i'd have to say unique!

Damon is an insane drummer but you really have to give the credit to Ian Williams. No other Don Cab records that he isn’t on are nearly as good, and the guy reinvented himself twice with Storm and Stress and Battles.
Don Cab honestly feels like a battle of egos between Ian and Damon which I think ultimately made them challenge each other more so perhaps that’s where Ian got the name. I think you have to really credit Ian for the initial Battles sound, but admittedly the more members they lost the worse they got. The early Battles is great though, just an entirely different thing. I think the eps are great along with Mirrored and Gloss Drop. It was kinda downhill from there.

Very.
