ALTRA TORIN 4.5 PLUSH...but why? | My initial thoughts and review of the new Torin 4.5 Plush

- The newly released Altra Torin 4.5 Plush has been highly anticipated by me and many other zero drop runners. Here, I'll talk about some of the things the running shoe has going for it and some of the mistakes I think Altra made in the update. While it loses an ounce of weight, that weight loss comes at a price. With about 30 miles on the shoes, this is my initial review and my perspective may change as I break the shoe in more. Also, be sure to stay tuned for my upcoming comparison of the Altra Torin 4.0 and the Altra Torin 4.5 Plush. The Altra Torin 4.0 is one of my favorite running shoes so far with ample cushion and zero drop. I ran my first marathon in that shoe and put over 500 cushy miles in it. Let's see how the Altra Torin 4.5 Plush stacks up.
PSA: These shoes were purchased with my own cheese (money) and no one will have the chance to review the footage or my thoughts before I make this video public.

Where did you get them for $100? Pretty stellar price

@@runslowtorunfast6528 Nice, i went ahead and ordered a pair since they had the red ones in stock. I agree with you, the color selections are meh.
Hey, just come across your channel. Big fan on Altra , loving the Olympus right now (just reviewed it) just ordered a pair of Torin 4.5s for easy road days...
Now following ... 👍
Thanks for the comment James. I hear good things about the Olympus. I am about ready to post my updated review of the Torins after 300 miles. Stay tuned!
@@runslowtorunfast6528 will do... thanks
Well covered! Thanks for your insights
Glad you enjoyed it!
I wasn’t thrilled about the red color scheme but after trying them on my feet said 😍so I bought a pair and I’m glad I did
Yeah, I think the red is pretty good looking. There just aren't a lot of options outside of the red and I think your other choices are pretty drab.
I would like to hear you on the comparison between 4.0 vs 4.5
Hi Tamo - Thanks for the comment. I'll try to get that video out in the next couple of days. I might throw the Escalante 2.0 in there, as well.
@@runslowtorunfast6528 good to know. Thanks for responding so quickly. Could you advise me if I should buy the torin 4.0 regular, or 4.0 plush, or the 4.5 plush? In your opinion of of course
@@runslowtorunfast6528 I got the Altra Lone peaks 4.5, but because of the pandemic I can't really compete in trail races. So I am stuck with road running
TaMo If it were me...I’d save the money and get the 4.0 plush 👍
where did you get it for $100?
Hi Jlamn - Thanks for the comment. When promotions are running you can find them for around $100 on shoemall.com. Shipping is a bit slow (took 8 days or so), but I think it's worth it in savings on the shoe.
@@runslowtorunfast6528 doesn't work
too narrow?
Hi Tommy - Thanks for the comment. I've never had any issues with an Altra shoe being too narrow. With the foot shaped toe box and my standard width foot, I don't see this as a problem.
I have the triumph 17, the torin 4.5 plush is way more comfortable imho, we are all different.
Indeed we are. Appreciate your comment!
After reading your comment, I'm even more excited about my 4.5 plush that are on the way in the mail. I literally just came from Triumph 17s and thought they were great. A little bulky but otherwise good. If the Torin Plush are even better, they'd probably become favorite shoes to date.
@@xfiringsquadx if you not used to Zero drop transition v v slowly took me a while to get used to zero drop, but if you land mid foot forefoot will be quicker.
@@FatUglySadMan I've already previously adjusted to zero drop. I have a midfoot strike. I've ran in escalantes in the past and my daily casual shoes are all altras. I probably shouldn't have used the Triumph but I got them as a gift after black Friday. Hopefully they won't affect my transition back very much. Since I have a midfoot strike, I think I'll be fine though. Thanks for the heads up anyway.
@@xfiringsquadx I still use triumph as I love them, zero drop all the time tire me.
