251s are by far my go to, and 67s. I was pleasantly surprised to hear how the characteristics of these Warm Audio are very similar to the originals. If i was at a lack of any of the originals, i would take any of these Warm Audio recreations any day and would be very happy! Great job Warm Audio!!!
I see a lotta people stating that th 67 was a workhorse mic, but, not in my memory. It tamed or helped with screetchy/hashy female vox and sounded terrible on a lotta other things including male vox, pretty good on drums, your WA67 may be a better mic…. It does have that sound. I’ve used a set of your WA84’s AND LIKED IT SO MUCH I BOUGHT THEM! Still very happy! Those 14’s sound just like 414’s. The 84’s won though.
Some fantastic mic’s here. For those of us that are podcaster & voice actors that are looking to upgrade our studios what would you suggest from your lineup?
Sm7b is 'the' voiceover mic. They are quiet though, you might need a good pre or a in-line boost to fully utilize it though. RE20 is another classic go-to. For something more affordable, any basic vocal dynamic like a shur beta 58 will do just fine.
Hi Joe! Perfect timing for me. I am trying to decide if I want to buy another WA-67, or a pair of the others, for this purpose. Where can I download the files? Thank you
Hi Joe, great video. I came here to see the 47jr but now you have me thinking about the 84's (sounded fantastic) and the 14's sounded pretty good too as well the WA 47 is awesome but may be a bit too pricey for me right now. if you had to choose between the 47jr, 84 or 14's for overheads and other studio versatility which would you choose? I have a fairly good arsenal of mics so overheads are likely the top priority for me but it's always good to have versatility.
We'll let Joe chime in for his feedback, but the WA-84s come as a stereo pair and are amazing overhead mics. As much as I love the WA-14s as overheads as well, you won't regret the WA-84s.
@@WarmAudioOfficial I ended up purchasing a matched pair of W84's. I haven't had an opportunity to use them as overheads yet however, I've used them on acoustic guitar several times now and they are fantastic. Nice warm sound - lol no pun intended. Very natural sounding.
Hey warm Audio! If you guys had to choose lol im between getting 2 WA 251 or 2 WA 84 for overheads. I'm torn between the two! Any advice on which I should go with?
Would you recommend a WA-14 or a WA-47jr as a mono overhead for drums in a minimal 3 or 4 mic setup? Also, do either come in a matched pair? I’m not seeing any for sale anywhere, only as a single mic.
Hey Jacob - Go with the WA-47jr. It will pick up the cymbals a bit better. Not only that, but a versatile mic you'll have in your locker for other projects (awesome for outer kick!). Neither of these mics technically come as a matched pair, but they are close enough and engineers often buy 2x and have no issues using them as a stereo pair.
@@WarmAudioOfficial Yes, my WA-47 Jr is really nice on kick-out, bass cab, guitar cab paired with a dynamic, strummed dreadnought acoustic guitar, room mic, kit mic facing a few feet back from bass drum and deeper/darker male vocals. It doesn't suit all singing voices though, it can bring out some sibilance / flintiness in an edgier more strident voices. The WA47 is better for smoothing out voices, and edgier guitar cab tones (e.g. strat / tele clean bridge pickup, fuzz tones, vox chime etc...)
Sound the same to me. These advertisements make every genre, instrument an “ all around studio work horse” I think shootouts from original to clone is more realistic. Love the sounds though and price points. Wa 73 pre is dope too. Good talk.
