If I had a time machine I'd damn sure hit every Kinks Koncert that ever was.
One of the best live act I have seen in my life. So glad I made it.
Was very lucky to have seen the Kinks during this period their shows were always very lively and exciting.
Living On A Thin Line should definitely have been released as a single.
Saw the Kinks State of Confusion Tour June 1983 Worcester Centrum Center, Massachusetts. Fuckin' awesome!!
Fuvk yeah I was there
Kinks were on 🔥
Saw mad shows at the good olé Centrum in 80's and 90's..
Now it's the Worcester Dcu👎🏽
The way Ray throws his pick and catches is total badass Rocking Aces Spot on.
Rest in peace, bassist Jim Rodford. Great lineup (they miss Mick Avory, but Henrit able and excellent here). Great set list. 80's are an underappreciated era for this band.
R. I.P. Ian Gibbons
Fortunate enough to have seen 'em at Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver earlier that same year -- they caned.
I saw the One For The Road tour in 1980 and the Give The People What They Want tour in 1981 at the Pacific Coliseum. The OFTR tour is top 5 of the concerts I’ve been to.
I enjoy the half-dozen wardrobe changes that Ray makes-- really love these upbeat 80's concerts the Kinks made! x)
Ray has a great stage presence.
just great,superb.
I saw these guys twice in 1982 and 1984 (i think those were the years?) and loved it! All I know is it was my first concert and I was in 7th grade. Haha. My sister who was 5 years older than me took me and her friend to the show. My first exposure to The Kinks was with Low Budget and then One For The Road in 79 and 80. Such awesome albums. I knew that the bassist Jim Rodford passed a few years ago in 2018, but I just learned that keyboardist Ian Gibbons passed in 2019 :( So sad. I always hoped to see a reunion with all those guys, but I guess i can only hope for Ray and Dave!
Where Have All The Good Times Gone
31:29 Jim Rodford on the bass, may he rest in peace. Great memories of seeing the band while he was a member.
Amen 🙏
Great. Thank you very much for the good video. It's a treasure
The sound mix makes it almost unlistenable. Yikes! Okay, gonna stick with it awhile longer. :)
THIS GROUP IS SO UNDERRATED WITH A HEART OF GOLD THAT RAY DAVIES HAS, I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AS BIG AS THE WHO, THE STONES AND LED ZEPPELIN.
I totally agree !!!
Was gonna agree with you until I realized that you're a fucking racist.
They kind of were for awhile! You sure didn't see The Who having top 10 hits in America in the 80s. It just kind of all stopped dead around '85 and maybe someone here can explain why.
@@mikestevenson576 I THINK THERE BEST YRS WERE THE EARLY YRS UP UNTIL THE EARLY 1970S AND THEN THEY WENT DRY, THEN THEY CAME OUT WITH THE COME DANCING WITH THE KINKS 77-87 WHICH HAD A TON OF GREAT HITS AND THEN THEY DRIED UP AGAIN AND THEN THE 90S WAS SUPER DRY FOR THEM AND THEN THEY BROKE UP AND THEN THEY REFORMED BUT WITH NO NEW MATERIAL. I ALSO KNOW THAT THEY WERE BLACKLISTED IN THE STATES BACK IN 65 BECAUSE DAVE DAVIES AND MICK AVORY COULD NOT GET ALONG AND ON ONE INCIDENT THEY ALMOST KILLED EACH OTHER AND ONE OF THEM HAD A WARRANT AGAINST THEM BECAUSE OF THE VIOLENT BEHAVIOUR AND IN THAT 4 YRS THEY WERE BANNED FROM AMERICA HURT THEIR CAREERS IMMENSELY.
@@theanswerisinthebackofyourhead Thanks! What I didn't quite understand is that The Who was always an arena act regardless of whether they had current material. But The Kinks went from arenas to theaters almost instantaneously in the 2nd half of the 80s after Word of Mouth didn't succeed. Maybe Daltrey and Jagger are front men on a different level.
Around the Dial, aka The Ian Gibbons Backing Vocals Extravaganza Starring Ian Gibbons™
Ich war an diesem Abend dabei, die Kinks waren großartig, der Rst ( BAP und Klaus Lage) langweilig
The Kinks rule. However half this band is Argent. Both the bassist and the drummer are from Argent
thanks
Jim always considered himself as a true member of The Kinkks than a member of Argent.
saw them at guildford civic hall about this time. best live show ever.
Ray sure is gorgeous😍😘
I enjoyed this Kinks concert and the band's live performances in the 1980's, particularly Ray's frontman theatrics and Dave's elegantly raucous Gibson Les Paul guitar play! One question: what's up with the vocal mix -- very loud backing vocals (from bassist)?!!
Yeah it sounds like were mostly hearing Jim on backing vocals. The bass player.Jim took a bad fall on the stairs at his house and passed away a few days back.Liked a lot by everyone who ever dealt with him R.I.P.
Some said at this point the band sounded a bit Hard Rock & Metal & I say "Well yeah..they did pretty much "invent" it!
People might say that but what exactly is hard metal about this concert. They did You Really Got Me which did create a type of music known as hard metal but the band was never a hard metal band. People who say that either don't know the Kinks or are just ignorant
@@harlanginsberg2907 They practically invented Heavy Metal and Punk Rock.
Up! 💖💖 Markku&huns :D
Love the video just wondering why Dave's mic is louder than Ray's
You’re hearing Jim Rodford’s (bass) vocal mix. A great backup singer in his own right, as noted in this thread, and in his last years, adding his beautiful vocals to The Zombies touring band. What a loss.
Yeah that's what I thought too
Why's their mic louder 🤔 Lolz
Still awesome show...👍🏽

Dave Davies is one of rocks truly great guitarists..the opening riff of You Really Got Me is up there with Satisfaction or any other opening riff you could think of...great band..don't make em like this anymore..😊
Why is the audio so low? I can barely hear it.

First Tour without Mick
Are you sure? This was from 83, and Mick was still with them.
Clip is from 23rd November 1984,so it’s Bob Henrit on drums.

Jim sings better than Dave now that you can hear him clearly.
No. If they wanted a third singer it should be another high one not in Rays range.
I saw them when they were in Vancouver this tour, and the Schoolboys in Disgrace a few years previous, with he original line up, John Dalton, Mike Cotton brass and the "exquisite" John Gosling.. playing to a rapturous audience of 4-5000, and they were incredibly good and Ray was magical... The tour in this video had the Angels opening for them, and they were great.. Kinks however, were a let down, the sound sucked, Ray sucked, Dave's guitar was constantly out of tune and too hot in the mix, and there was just no chemistry .. Ray tried but it wasn't happening..
