Would have been interesting to put the rig over the scales if the lotus had full tanks to see if it was lawful or overweight, I suspect I would have been close ...Not many tugs can lawfully tow a van with an ATM of 3495 KG if the van is at ATM without GVM upgrades etc of the tug especially if the Tug has passengers, fuel and luggage in it..
