@ThaKronDon They have to take some responsibility for themselves and pick up after themselves and they don’t need somebody chasing after them or giving them some sleeping pod that they can just filth up. If they were just decent homeless people they would keep a decent little area but they’re not there a scourge and they’re choosing to act like a scourge so why would anybody want to invest in giving them a nice new little sleep space that they’re just going to turn into a mouse ridden hovel??? In some ways people have to earn a decent place to live if those people want a decent place to live they would be showing that they were deserving of that because they would keep their area decent but they don’t they don’t even try everywhere you go homeless people seem to be filthy and gross and yucky and spread out all of their filthiness as far as they possibly can. Decent people don’t act that way. That’s the problem the homeless people aren’t decent people if they were decent people and they were just homeless it would be different.

The prevalent behavior shows people treating the space as a garbage dump and passing the cost of cleanup to the general public (i.e. those paying taxes). A dozen years ago I was working for a company doing a contract for Cal-Trans - we were all over the state. Even then, there were homeless places similar to this - the difference is that Venice Beach is so "in your face" that it just blows the minds of most people. Back then, they enforced it somewhat more, but even then they were there.
This is just another symptom, folks. We gotta be doing a better job of helping the mentally ill than we do now. If that means institutionalizing some of them, that may not be the bad thing it was made out to be years ago... these people would be looked after and helped through their issues, at least... not saying we did it right before community treatment became a thing, but I think we went too far the other way in expecting the severely mentally ill to take care of themselves.
No matter what, just remember these are fellow humans, and treat them with dignity.
