This is so inspiring! I've been trying to start some drosera from seed in February, but had to leave my greenhouse behind in Kyiv when the war began, sometimes I wonder if they sprouted and are waiting for me back home. Hope to come back soon and start again from scratch, considering 90% of my plants probably didn't survive without care :'c
I was wondering how plant lovers in Ukraine are doing right now, about their dry houseplants waiting to be watered, and all of the flower bulbs and seeds, that were bought to plant right now :/ I hope that most of this plants are still all right and if anything dies, Ukrainian people have the money to restore their collections! Hope you're safe now and wish you can get back to caring about your plants ❤ Love from Poland neighbour:D
@@aroslinka3293 💛💙 I've escaped with only my cat and a lemon tree I've grown from seed, couldn't leave it behind ( it was a sight to see thought, cramming into a train, cat in one hand, lemon in another x) In good new - the bulbs I've planted in my studio back in Kyiv started to bloom!
@@nickmorfey5033 That must have been a sight to see! And I completely understand why did you take your lemon tree, as I have been growing one for myself for 4 years and it's just like my baby:D Also great to hear about your bulbs, at least something is still growing well at your place:) I wish this war will be over soon and everything would be back to normal at last
Coming back and watching this because I’ve lost almost all of my carnivorous plants. Slowly recovering them. I gotta get a better light but my led one from my old saltwater reef light will probably work, rip lil sunder and pitcher plant buddies
For sure repot every year if your plants have done well in the year, I always get rid of all the moss as it takes up that important space for roots! That red colour is beautiful.
All the sphagnum moss mounds look cool and I love how your sundews have reproduced so much, very pretty! I have a little drosera capensis and I didn't know the stick things it came with were spent flowers!
Fantastic video. Thank you. Ive been wanting to get into carnivores but I really don’t know the first thing about them. Yours are beautiful. Very fun. Thanks again and stay safe
Same here, there are a lot of plant tasks that would be too much of a hassel to make a video while doing but a stream would be easier to manage and shwo what im doing
Great video that I have watched several times. I enjoy seeing people’s collections. Did you move forward with a bog garden? It would be cool to see an update!
Been caring for carnivors plants for about 2 years but I only have hardy plants because I live in a desert 120⁰. I have traditional vft, like 4 or 5 varieties, a cape sundew a towering sundew and 2 types of pitcher plants I also accidently let one of the vfts dry out but I added water and they just started coming out
You should do a video about all the “diagnose what’s wrong with your plants” apps out there. Like PlantIn- for example. You could make a common plant sick in a few different ways and test to see if the apps work at all in identifying the problem (which I completely doubt, I feel like it’s a grift on new plant parents).
That is an interesting idea! some company reached out to me recently asking if i would shill their app for money lol ive never used them so i dont know how well they work. I got plenty of sick plants already i dont need to make them that way lol
I love the rich colours on yours. Right now I'm working on my own venus fly traps getting up to quality. I wonder if a bin might give them a nice growing condition too.
@@TechplantChannel Mine are the same. I use sunblaster fluorescent lights. I made sure they aren't getting too hot either. Everything varigated and coloured LOVE these lights. I think it might just be because I got my VFT from a big box store and maybe they'll just never be as good as properly cultivated VFTs. It's been about 18 months and I only gave them 1 dormancy period. We'll see though.
Very interesting. Yes, I’d love to see a repotting video. I had a Ping and it died a few days after I got it. I don’t know what was wrong. It was in a 2” pot with moss around it and I kept it wet and under a grow light. $26.00 down the drain. The seller wouldn’t even answer my email asking them what I may have done wrong. So bad experience for me. I gave up on trying to have one.
I had some 20 years ago when I started my botanical career. They sadly died after some years. Now whenever I see them for sale, the price scares me off. I can get 3 Orchids for that price or a Peruvian Torch to chew on...
Nice setup! I absolutely love napenthes! I recently have been thinking about trying to grow some Sun dews and after seeing this it makes me want to grow them more! Do you know where I can find some seeds for the Sun dews and the nepenthes? I want to try and grow them from seed not from a plant bought from home Depot or somewhere because where I live there's no nurseries to purchase them, I usually get my plants and supplies from home Depot and Lowes! Nice setup though 👍💚🌱 Have a great day my friend?
My aunt gave me Nepenthes Miranda 3 times in a year when I was 9, I was amazed on how huge the pitchers were, but all 3 are dead since I have no knowledge on how to keep them alive back then…
A little late to this video, but how do you get your Graomogolensis to get so big? I feed mine pretty regularly, and they get plenty of moisture and light, but they only ever stay small and die after about 3 months.
All of my dosera got hit with a severe thrips infestation that I couldn't get rid of so I eventually had to toss them all. Really infuriating. Have you had issues with pests on your carnivorous plants and how did you treat them if that was the case?
yeah as soon as i do there are already more coming lol I really wanna build a nice stand and bog where ican spread them out a bit. but eventually the new seeds will sow and it will be jam packed again
they just do it on their own, but some people will put them in the fridge and then freezer. I would try and find a more official guide online since i have never done it. IF you live in a place that has winter you can just put them outside when fall comes so its more gradual. just keep them in garage as it gets bitter cold so they dont insta die. because a pot will freeze more than say a giant bog that has earths heat if that makes sense. the pot is too exposed to handle bad winters. Hope this helps a bit
They are not. For each sundew you have more exposed soil that the gnats will lays eggs and reproduce. While carnivorous plants catch and eat bugs, they're not a solution of bug/insect control.
They catch them but they wont finish them off, I dont know why but all my old pots never get fungus gnats only a new pot will. I think eventually they eat whatever they eat of the top inch or so and then cant reproduce well?
This is how I like keeping carnivorous plants. Low maintenance and just enjoy them.

YES to a live stream and I'm finding a bog container tomorrow and coming to jack some carnivorous plants!!!

WOW, the plants all look gorgeous. I love the looking of sphagnum moss growing together with sundews and pitchers, it looks so so natural.

yup, your sundew can self pollinate too so it should spread next time it flowers.
very nice plants, I like the D.graomogolensis too, looks always wonderful under strong light with the red leaves.
Thanks, yeah its my favorite by far!
Would LOVE to see this as a live steam
Will do!

I have some specific care videos too if you need more info, this was just a generic update
I love carnivorous plants!! I've been waiting for this update
Trust me, they love YOU too! :)
me too they are so unique and the dew just sparkles!

Very cool and thanks for the update!
Thanks for watching!
I missed watering my napenthes last week, so this is very reassuring! 🙈😅 I'll keep topping it up as normal and hopefully it will pull through.
yeah dont give up it will make a new growth point!

I’m sorry you had this experience. What kind of water did you use ?
I started with a cape sundew and it ended up getting killed by aphids
Also what kind of humidity domes do you recommend I'd need ones with ventilation because it gets so hot here I don't want to cook them
Such a beautiful mess! :D

Distilled it sucks to have to buy it. You can use rain water
@@TechplantChannel thank you! I just realized that I asked the same question twice lol
I'm wondering, are droserae a valid method to keep fungus gnats at bay?
