A must listen if you love instrumental and great lyrics.” Into the lungs of hell & Set the world Afire.” These songs should be played together as they perfectly mesh together. Note: this was written during the Cold War era and set the world afire is Dave Mustaine’s first song written on the bus ride back to California after Metallica. Riffs, transitions, solos… it has it all
Set the World Afire is arguably my favorite Megadeth track --- yea, I argue with myself 🎸80's thrash Riff Salad this one. Note on the original recording the solos will play on left or right, as opposed to center, which is meant more for play on a stereo. That was changed in the remaster. As the story goes, and Chris mentions, it's the first track Dave wrote after being kicked out of 'tallica. The track has the word "Megadeath" in it which he/they ended up calling the band. Into the lungs of Hell is an instrumental that seamlessly tied into Afire on the LP 👍
I bought a cassette tape of this in 1986. I listened to it so much that two months later I had to buy another because I wore the first one out. This song was my favorite. I understood though, that it was a song about someone who committed acts that tacitly gave demons the ability to possess them. I never thought it was a glorification of animalistic, homicidal acts or behavior. I understood it was like a horror movie or comic book put to song. For anyone listening to this and thinking its a glorification of murder, just don't. Also, don't misunderstand the emotions you feel whilst listening. Keep perspective. This is an extremely moving work.
Imagine your 13, your mom mistakenly buys you Killing Is My Business because Ride the Lightning was sold out. You drop the needle on Last Rites/loved to death. In a moment you know what real metal is
Chris Poland and Gar Samuelson are seriously underrated members of Megadeth Dave knows what he’s doing as a song writer and music writer and this song delivers on all fronts. The Conjuring is the best song on this album. Also hope he stays away from the Remasters. Megadeth has a different groove because of the Jazz background of some of the band members
agreed, originals are btter, i like kimb final kill the most, can hears gar drums better, chris/gar r so fkn badass n awesome, my fav lineup personally imo
I’m so glad you are reacting to Megadeth. During the era, no one could touch them. Important to listen to Diamond Head “am I evil”. You can hear the inspiration for both Megadeth and earlier Metallica. Fire reaction as usual.
The Conjuring by Megadeth please! It’s from the same album. There’s this guitar riff in the middle, and you’ll know when it hits, that I consider the heaviest Megadeth riff of all time. It’s so cool!
I wonder if they realized that they struck gold with the opening few minutes of this song (Good Mourning), while they were recording it in the studio. I like Black Friday too, but I don't think I've heard cooler guitar playing than 'Good Mourning', ever. Chris Poland is the master. He utilizes the hell out of that whammy bar and makes that damn guitar scream in agony. Not to mention Dave's phenomenal clean guitar parts.
Honestly I feel like Megadeth would’ve been a lot different over all if Poland never got kicked out of the and for his drug addiction and for selling the bands gear. Who knows maybe many of our fan favorites like rust in piece would never exist or be completely different.
Thanks for covering this song! This is one of their songs they won't play anymore live (and haven't for 23/24 years), and you paying attention to it, and illustrating some of the history behind the song (which I was unaware of...) is VERY cool!
This album also has a track called "The Conjuring".. I agree with the possessed vibes. Dave was known for performing spells himself - he once made the most beautiful girl in the school come to his house and another time some bully hurt himself, if I remember correctly. He talked about it recently on Joe Rogan.
He mentioned the harm spell in his book; some kid at school punched him in the head and he ended up swallowing chewing tobacco because of it, so to cope with all the vomiting he performed a spell on the guy. Built a doll and broke its leg off. The dude ended up getting run over and having his leg crushed by a truck.
I will always love Megadeth over Metallica. This album especially. One major reason is because guitarist Chris Poland and drummer Gar Samuelson were both born in my hometown.
Seen Megadeth on this tour at the old coliseum in Cleveland back in 88 They opened with good morning black Friday and led right into the conjuring a concert I'll never forget. Venom opened up for them . Dave mustaine=metal god.
Huge megadeth and Metallica fan for years ….try overkill … who tends the fire and the years of decay …. Both like 8 minute plus songs but are slow heat and grungy as hell I think you may enjoy
You really need to check out tornado of souls on their “rust in peace” album or She-Wolf from their “Cryptic Writings” album but with she-wolf I REALLY REALLY recommend the “rude awakening Live” version! It really shows the band at their best!🤟 Keep up the awesome reactions ❤️🔥
One band you should check out is Rammstein. They are a german metal band and very internationally successful. You could start on songs like "Deutschland", "Sonne" or their most famous song "Du Hast"
Since I don't have much money, I won't be able to request songs via donation, even if wanted to. But I would like to leave a comment here saying that I found your channel recently and I really like the content so far, so I'll leave here the best-to-react songs from every Megadeth album and why I think they're great to analyze. Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good (pure thrash; speed and anger are key) -Last Rites / Loved To Deth; because it's the first song of the first album and shows the anger of the earliest works from the band. -Looking Down The Cross; because is not really the classic thrash metal song with accelerated tempo and aggresion like Rattlehead. So Far... So Good... So What? (very particular production) -In My Darkest Hour; because is one of the most complex songs they've made and one of their best and most popular too. -Hook In Mouth; because is about censorship and the way is written is catchy but also you can clearly feel the disgust against said censorship. Rust In Peace (it's said to be just the best metal album of all time, we'll see) -Hangar 18; because there's a lot to say about the musicianship of this one in particular. -Tornado Of Souls; not my favorite, probably one of the worst of the album for me (still a 10/10) but it has THE greatest guitar solo Megadeth has ever made (and one of the best in metal history). Countdown To Extiction (show the maturity of the band, they're leaning back from thrash at this point) -Symphony Of Destruction; because it's almost a hymn of them. -Countdown To Extiction; because I just really like this one. -Sweating Bullets; because is a very interesting change of pace, since it's mostly triplets (Note that you probably will see the shortened version that doesn't have the intro). -Ashes In Your Mouth; because it's just a phenomenal way to end and album. Youthanasia (it's not thrash metal anymore and begins the path to commercialization) -Train Of Consequences; because it's very catchy. -Family Tree; because it's obscure and sounds amazing. -Youthanasia; because it's a slow but very powerful track (Note that A Tout Le Monde is not here because, although I prefer the version from this album, the version from United Abominations it's a collab and has more aspects to react to, and also is better to see how the band evolved) Cryptic Writings (looking for commercialization, aiming towards the radio and creating catchier songs from now on) -Trust; because is one of the most popular. -Secret Place; because is one of my personal favorites from this album and I think is way more catchy than the rest. -She Wolf; because is catchy, but also sound more like thrash metal and shows well how they wanted to keep making music. Risk (the incident) -Seven / Insomnia; because it shows more or less how the entire album sounds and what they wanted to achieve making more "pop" than metal. -Nuke Dukem Theme bonus track; I just like this one. The World Needs A Hero (the return that ended up being the incident 2) [I hate this album] -Return To Hangar; because it's the weird "continuation" of Hangar 18. -Dread And The Fugitive Mind; because is the only memorable song from this album. The System Has Failed (one of their best; the real return to their roots) -Blackmail The Universe; because it has an amazing and complex drumming and a lot of variety. -The Scorpion; because it's The Scorpion. -Kick The Chair; because it sound particularly more aggresive than the other tracks. United Abominations (the first modern Megadeth sounding album) -Sleepwalker / Never Walk Alone... A Call To Arms; because they're cool. -You're Dead; because it has an amazing solo. Endgame (United Abominations but better) -The Hardest Part Of Letting Go... Sealed With A Kiss; because is one of the best metal ballads I've heard. -How The Story Ends; because I don't know. I'm running out of reasons to listen to modern Megadeth, really. -The Right To Go Insane. Thirteen (United Abominations part 2) -Sudden Death; because it's one of the hardest songs in Guitar Hero 3 (jk). -Public Enemy Nº1; very catchy, and pop sounding. -Never Dead / New World Order; because they're making thrash again? Black Swan / Deadly Nightshade / 13; Nevermind, they're not... Yet. Dystopia (now, this is what we wanted to hear in their comeback) -The Threat Is Real. -Dystopia. -Death From Within. The Emperor. Poisonous Shadows. Conquer Or Die; because it's one of the best metal instrumental you've probably heard. The Sick... The Dying... And The Dead! (Dystopia part 2: the worse part, but it's still good) -We'll Be Back. -Night Stalkers. Why I wanted to do this, I don't know. But I hope you react to some of these on stream and or UA-cam if you're planning to keep track of this band and go through their discography, because they deserve to be called one of the best metal bands for a reason. Nothing else to say, keep up the good work and take care!
@Syed, this is off topic, but I just watched another of your Bob Dylan reactions where you praise the writing and story telling. IMHO, Dylan has strong competition from John Prine. Check our "Hello In There," "Sam Stone," "Souvenirs," "The Great Compromise," "Paradise," "In Spite of Ourselves" and many others. Mr. Prine (RIP) is a master story teller.
You should really do an album reaction to this or Rust In Peace, two of the greatest metal albums of all time. All killer, no filler
this or Countdown to Extinction, definitely
no, he should do kimb next
Syed you’ve got to listen to “In my Darkest Hour” and “Hangar 18”! They’re incredible tracks too. Great analysis as always btw!
Such a well composed badass tune. MEGADETH IS Guitar Supremacy.
This entire album is KILLER!
A must listen if you love instrumental and great lyrics.” Into the lungs of hell & Set the world Afire.” These songs should be played together as they perfectly mesh together.

I will praise you for not mentioning the name ...

Hanger 18, Tornado of Souls, Symphony of Destruction, Peace Sells and In My Darkest Hour are a must.
I'm convinced mustaine has two brains for being able to play and Sing this at the same time
Imagine your 13, your mom mistakenly buys you Killing Is My Business because Ride the Lightning was sold out. You drop the needle on Last Rites/loved to death. In a moment you know what real metal is
In my darkest hour will blow your mind, from deep meaningful lyrics to beautifully written music. It’s got it all
Simply the greatest song ever written. No question about it.
Struggling to argue

Best line up ever

Bloodbaths are my way of getting clean
One of the best lines ever.
What i would give to discover all these songs again for the first time...
The Conjuring by Megadeth please! It’s from the same album. There’s this guitar riff in the middle, and you’ll know when it hits, that I consider the heaviest Megadeth riff of all time. It’s so cool!
The changes may be related to the fact that Chris Poland and drummer Gar Samuelson were band mates in a jazz fusion band prior to joining Megadeth.
I think Dave’s intro solo is one of the best solos he ever did in his whole career.
Honestly I feel like Megadeth would’ve been a lot different over all if Poland never got kicked out of the and for his drug addiction and for selling the bands gear. Who knows maybe many of our fan favorites like rust in piece would never exist or be completely different.

I love your metal reactions! There's so much good Megadeth it can keep you busy for a while.
Now for a request: Ozzy Osbourne - Crazy Train.
Seen Megadeth on this tour at the old coliseum in Cleveland back in 88 They opened with good morning black Friday and led right into the conjuring a concert I'll never forget. Venom opened up for them . Dave mustaine=metal god.
This album came out when I was in 9th grade highschool still listen today
The entire rust in peace album please!!!
Greatest intro in a metal song ever imo
Megadeth - Ashes In Your Mouth !
You need to listen to peace sells but who's buying, That's the song that got me into this band
You should already be editing the next Megadeth song, what's the hold up
Tornado of souls is a must! Great lyrics, paired with arguably the greatest metal solo of all time!
Shame about the vocals though
Chris Poland is very underrated
This song always makes me think of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. 🤘
its so wholesome seeing these deaf kids hear music for the first time. 💌♥
Chris Poland was really good at playing outside of the Rythm section.
Listen to : Go to Hell
From the Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey
Huge megadeth and Metallica fan for years ….try overkill … who tends the fire and the years of decay …. Both like 8 minute plus songs but are slow heat and grungy as hell I think you may enjoy
rattlehead is the definition of thrash
Yes Chris Poland does the melodic intro
Then 2:37 mustaine 4:16 mustaine
7:58 poland
The end of this song is incredibly intense. A fist pumper.
You really need to check out tornado of souls on their “rust in peace” album or She-Wolf from their “Cryptic Writings” album but with she-wolf I REALLY REALLY recommend the “rude awakening Live” version! It really shows the band at their best!🤟
Keep up the awesome reactions ❤️🔥
Check out Tornado of Souls from Rust in Peace for sure. One of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded.
One band you should check out is Rammstein. They are a german metal band and very internationally successful. You could start on songs like "Deutschland", "Sonne" or their most famous song "Du Hast"
I love this reaction! Balls to the wall man
AGUANTE MEGADETH SALUDOS DESDE ARGENTINA 🇦🇷 💙🤍💙
When you hire a jazz fusion guitarist and drummer to play your metal songs😊😊
INTENSE.
Can't wait for him to get to out on the tiles
The. Best. Megadeth. Song. ever 🤘
Masterpiece
🔥MegaYeah!🔥
One of the tracks Mustaine retired.
so brutal!
RIP GAR
Love the line up. I miss Nick Menza! Best drummer ever!
you should really do rattlehead from the first album
You gotta check out D.B.C. (Dead Brain Cells) - Deadlock
Also check out D.R.I. (Dirty Rotten Imbeciles) - Manifest Destiny
Try my last words.
When are we going to get more pantera
Uh ho. I'm getting whiffs of remastered version.
Mechanix next please 🙏 or Rattlehead
This is my favorite of Megadeth. It took me a while to get hooked on them, I could not listen to the voice of Dave 😅 somehow it annoyed me.
Since I don't have much money, I won't be able to request songs via donation, even if wanted to. The best thing Metallica has ever put out is Dave Mustaine
Metallica has better discography but Megadeth peak is better, they reached a level that Metallica never did! (Metallica is my favorite band ever)
Dude, now you have to react to the best song on the album, "the Conjuring". Legendary track. Make sure it's the remastered version.
Being chased by a cyborg 😘
Sadly he can't sing this song anymore after his born again status. But the newest rendition of it can be found in well be back.
