You are an absolute jewel. I could have saved time and money by heeding all of this advice. I am binge watching your shows, making sure I like and sometime I even save them. I watched you when I was beginning, I still consider myself a beginner. I just appreciate you so much, and shopping on amazon through your link and watching and liking is what I can do to thank you.
This video has been the most helpful so far for mixing the paint. I was using twice as much paint as the Floetrol, and although I felt like my paints were thin enough like “really warm honey” like I keep hearing, I wasn’t getting the results I wanted. But using your mixing recipe, I got so many cells today, with no silicone. It’s true, trying to understand thickness on videos is tricky. This is been the best. Thank you so much!
I cook like your blend your mixes. I think I can translate that attitude to my art. Thanks!! Mixing your proportions and going by your sounds and feel for the paint right now. You have introduced me to a whole new direction and making painting an adventure, again. Thank you.
This is definitely the most helpful video I've watched and believe me, I've watched a lot of them. I will say your narration was extremely helpful! I ran into a few videos that were poorly narrated. Thank you for narrating that thickness is not visual. I had a tough time figuring this out before your video. I am extremely happy with the results I got using your method!! Thank you SO much! I CAN FINALLY MIX PAINT :)
Thanks for the list of materials needed and the how to pour tutorial. It was concise and to the point. I will be doing my first pour soon. I want to create some art in the colors I like with unique designs. Thanks a million!!!
Immensely helpful! I thought my paints were on the thin side. So this evening I rectified as much of the paint as possible and redid many of my pours. Wow! The difference was amazing! Colors were much brighter and cells more defined. Thank you!
Thank you Mixed Media Girl! This is the second (!) time out of 10 tries, cells actually formed for me and stayed. :-) Thank you for the very practical and simple method.
I am so glad I found your channel. Most of the other people talk to much before they say anything useful about painting. Lol, I sound very fussy but I am not. Additionally, you do an awesome job and I thank you for sharing.
I just subscribed to your channel! I love how clearly you explain everything and what you need and then what can help create different effects! Your awesome and so very talented. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
Thank you so much for doing this!!! I've been wondering about how you did mixed and the second you mentioned this video in a different video i instantly switched to this one because i was so curious how you got your paint to look so smooth!!
I have learned a lot watching your channel and enjoy it very much. Could you sometime give us a ballpark estimate for how many ounces per cup in a mix you use for the various canvas sizes? Like how many for an 8 X 10, a 10 X 10, a 10 X 12, a 12 X 12 and even larger sizes? My perpetual problem is not having enough paint requiring me to really scramble to get more mixed before things settle too quickly. I really appreciated the video you did on mixing your paints and the ideas for premixing ahead of time and doing so in large quantities. I am also saving up my "left-overs" over the long run to see what I can do with them. Again, learning a lot and enjoying it. Thanks!
Thank you for the video you just seem me some work cuz I am about to work on that same side of your canvas and I was wondering how much I would need to and from your video you gave me estimate of how much I would need even though I use new now I got some more tips. And by the way I love the picture I use a lot of silver and that too and it does take over the picture.
Everyone does there bids different, but you have help me learn my mix is way to thick I look forward to getting better results,as I'm only on my fourth pour I'm still experimenting to find my way,you have helped so much, thankyou
Love this tutorial THANK you I have been having trouble getting mine thin enough cuz I think some arent fully honest w their mixtures UK what I mean cuz I've went off theirs n mine is still thick, so ima try this n I'll let UK how it works out a tip strain the floetrol it through like a metal strainer cuz it has chunks
That was great. I quite love doing the mixing. The only difference is that I haven't found a reasonable source and price of Floetrol here in Canada, so I've been using Zisser, which is a really thin liquid, but certainly does work as an extender. I am so thrilled to have found this technique. It's been fun so far!
Have you ever tried Liquitex pouring effects medium. I went out to buy some, and came home with the wrong product! I'm going to go back to Michael's and pick some up because I too, find the Zinsser too watery.
The Liquitex will be my next try, chick256. But I'm actually really happy with the Zinsser. It doesn't thin out the paint and certainly doesn't change the colour. It's a way better price too than Liquitex, but I would like to check out the difference.
I am in Ontario and I found a 3.78L bottle of Floetrol at Dulux paints for 20 dollars. If you have a CAA membership you get a discount as well. Hope that helps you out.
That's awesome news. I'm going to call the Dulux store in Sydney tomorrow. Oddly enough I have never noticed it whereas there's a new Sherwin Williams almost next door (altho I haven't lived in Cape Breton that long). Sherwin Williams only had the Zinsser. It's only been open a few months and was actually getting rid of the Zinsser, I can only guess, because no one was buying it. I mean, really, Home Depot should sell it, but they only have the Zinsser too. I really hope someone here in Cape Breton has it. Otherwise I'll have to get someone from Ontario to bring it when they come visit. Thanks myloveofcrafting!
My son sees an alligator in the purple lacing in the right bottom corner and says it looks like he's popping his head out on the beach at night. In other words it looks incredible!! We love it.. I love the color combo!!
This is pretty cool, thanks for sharing, I'm just wondering if you added silicone to this one ? Do you even need silicone to get cells ? Thanks again !
Thank you for taking the time to explain how to mix the paint. I have been so confused by others until I came across you. Thank you for educating me and I’m sure others feel the same way. God Bless you. I do have a question tho. Your canvas, did you get it ready for the dirty pour, or did you flip/pour on a dry canvas? Someone told me that I should put my base coat down first then my pour paint. But I found that, that can use up a lot of paint so it’s a waste. I’d appreciate your input. Thanks.
The shaking and stirring is probably why they make more cells (w/o silicone) when you use them right away. Very informative, I never would have guessed to use that much floetrol and that it was so opaque! Does it alter the colours at all?
Kandice T I thought the same!! I didn’t realise it was opaque! For some reason I thought it was a thin translucent fluid! And I didn’t realise we actually use more of that than of paint but I’m definitely looking forward to trying my own pours soon!! All thanks to mm.girl x
Hi there thank you for your mixing video it is So nice to have it explained as I am a bit scared to make a start I should like to ask you how would you use mica powders in your mix and do you get the same results As the beautiful metallics you use Thanks again your great
Thank you so much for breaking it down! What ratio have you used for just paint and water? Just starting out, I want to get a handle on things before adding in floetrol.
You Rock!! I wish you were my teacher in high school 🌸. That was awesome. You make it all so simple the way you explain it. I LOVE this painting!!! It’s SO BEAUTIFUL!
Beautiful Pour 😍 Thank You So Much for Sharing your mixture "Recipe" I'm wondering about the water....I live in the country and have well water so I have been buying Distilled Water as I have seen that others use it BUT does the minerals in tap water make a difference ? TGIF 😉
Awesome! Thanks for this! I was wondering how/where you set your paintings to dry. The last couple I did, I let them sit on some cooling racks in my plastic bin, and that was a lesson learned the hard way... the paint ended up sticking on the bottom to the rack, and it ended up tearing the canvas on the bottom a bit when I attempted to pull it up :( Before that, I was doing the push pin method, but I really don't like using them. I'm thinking I'll just go back to setting them on the plastic cups to dry over night. They didn't stick as bad with that.
My little secret is I set them on top of another canvas that's still covered in the plastic :) you could also just put wax paper or plastic on your racks, the paint won't stick to plastic. Or cups always work :)
OMG THANK YOU.. you already explained it better in the first 2 minutes than the last 100 tutorials i saw thank u.
TRAC ATAK I know right . She explained it very east to understand
Totally agree it's awesome
For real!! And your voice ISN'T absolutely annoying like the last 100 tutorials either!! Thanks for being you.... ☺️
I had to go back to the beginning and relearn how to mix paint. This is the best one. Thank you!!!
Best acrylic pour mixing video!
Great video! Learned a lot about the paints . Can’t wait to try my band at this.
Thank you for showing how to mix paint. You explain things very well. I watch your site daily. Thank you for the ideas. I am new at this.
You should create cups like this w the lines (for those who have no clue how to figure out ) and sell them in 20 packs or whatever lol just an idea
I totally agree with you. 😮great idea
Thank you for explaining the process so well, and with such patience. You are a good teacher.
This video has been the most helpful so far for mixing the paint. Awesome!!!
That white one is glue or what
It is called Floetrol, a paint conditioner.
I cook like your blend your mixes. I think I can translate that attitude to my art. Thanks!! Mixing your proportions and going by your sounds and feel for the paint right now. You have introduced me to a whole new direction and making painting an adventure, again. Thank you.
yet again, another helpful video for those of us who aren’t pros just yet. thank you!!!
This is definitely the most helpful video I've watched and believe me, I've watched a lot of them. I will say your narration was extremely helpful! I ran into a few videos that were poorly narrated. This was the best mixing video out of about 10 video’s I watched. I learned so much thank you.
Thanks for the list of materials needed and the how to pour tutorial. It was concise and to the point. I will be doing my first pour soon. I want to create some art in the colors I like with unique designs. Thanks a million!!!
Omg. This helped tremendously!!! Easy to understand for beginners
The colors you used really came together nicely. The webbing/lacing of the silver/zinc looks awesome. I love it.
You are so sweet! Thank you for introducing Sals to us! So amazing! JUST like you are!!!
Immensely helpful! I thought my paints were on the thin side. So this evening I rectified as much of the paint as possible and redid many of my pours. Wow! The difference was amazing! Colors were much brighter and cells more defined. Thank you!
OMG..I.ve been wandering through the AP maze and here it is... Just what I needed. And your art work is beautiful. Thanks!
That’s a beautiful painting! I would love to see stars all over it. Galaxy
Everything was so simply explained! I finally got a hang of how to work around this! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for demonstrating how to mix your paints. I am new to paint poring and meed all the help I can get. I love it!!!
I love how this turned out. The upper right corner looks like a blue finger touching the universe. Very cool. Blessings Shirlene
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!! I cannot wait to start trying this on canvas and vases!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you for showing us this! Very helpful!! And by the way you are very talented!!
Absolutely love your videos!!! Thank you for the step by step. And this piece is gorgeous! The colors are perfect together!!
It looks likes space...so cool. Thank you for this! So much info I needed!!
Thank you for the simple version. You are the best!
I love the way this one came out and thanks for the tips on mixing paint. 😃
Love the colors on this and the how to mix is super helpful as I'm just getting started with my niece.
Great instruction. Been away for awhile. Glad to see your mastery.
That looks amazing! Very space galaxy looking, i love the colours
This video helped me so much. I’m a newby at this so will have fun screwing up and learning. I so admire your work. Thanks lots. Elaine
Thank you!
I have to say that was exactly what I was looking for! So simple! Thanks!
Totally agree with Trac. Excellent video
I'm excited, I just bought my first bottle of floetrol today and your video pops up.
Rikki Lee G. I found a gallon can of flotrol at a house-paint store for a way lower price than small bottles at art store.
Jennifer WhiteWolf absolutely! I believe a gallon of floetrol works out to be cheaper than a gallon of Elmer's.
wered you get it?
Very well explained! Thank you so much.. I watched this today while mixing.
I just subscribed to your channel! I love how clearly you explain everything and what you need and then what can help create different effects! Your awesome and so very talented. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise!
Thank you! If you're interested in learning some acrylic pour techniques, check out this video I just made ❤ ua-cam.com/video/xIDCgXkm5Uc/v-deo.html
I have to say it too..OMG thanks for this video so helpful.. I am a beginner just getting all that I need to do a pour.
Thanks for sharing! I have been mixing mine in a cup and then transferring to a bottle but I am going to try this method!
Thank you for all of the information that you are sharing 😊
Great instruction. Very simply explained. Thanks.
Great colour choices... good work
Thanks so much I will be buying floetrol before the end to the week. Thanks for the receipe!

Thank you so much for doing this!!! I've been wondering about how you did mixed and the second you mentioned this video in a different video i instantly switched to this one because i was so curious how you got your paint to look so smooth!!

very helpful tips and amazing pour as always
Love the colors and cells. Thank you.
Thank you for my New Year's card. Just perked up my day. And Loved that great "ugly" sweater.
Thanks for explaining so well. I wasn't sure how much pouring medium to mix with my paint.
I have learned a lot watching your channel and enjoy it very much. Could you sometime give us a ballpark estimate for how many ounces per cup in a mix you use for the various canvas sizes? Sure
I generally just multiply, like for an 8x10 I use about 5oz, so for a 16x20 I'd need about 20oz. Hope that helps :)
It's my understanding that you calculate how much paint needed by multiplying L x W of your canvas and ÷ by 2.5
Is that accurate?
@mixedmediagirl, can you reply back to comment above? I'm still a bit confused. Thanks :)
My formula is 1 ounce of paint mixture for every 16 square inches of canvas
You absolutely rock!! In so many ways!! Thank you so much...for everything!!!
I'm obsessed with that pour!!!!!
Thank you for the video you just seem me some work cuz I am about to work on that same side of your canvas and I was wondering how much I would need to and from your video you gave me estimate of how much I would need even though I use new now I got some more tips. That pour turned out GORGEOUS! Nice job! 💫✨🌚✨💫
YES, thank you. Gonna try a huge canvas tomorrow!
oh i love it. i really need to get the materials to do a pour myself asap.
What a Masterpiece MMG!!!!

Thank you soo much for this user friendly tutorial!
Wish me luck! 😊 Countertop pour
Gr8 video thank you 😊. Does it matter what water demineralised, tap, bottle water etc?
one of my favorites for sure
That looks so amazing! What do you do with all these that you make?
Love it. Thanks for the tutorial.

I love how the lone gray cell on the right side of the canvas looks like an eye
This video is what I've needed! Thank you so much!! P.S. beautiful pour 💙💜🖤
Learned a lot. Need to thin my paint a little more. Thanks.
Hi there thank you for your mixing video it is
So nice to have it explained as I am a bit scared to make a start
I should like to ask you how would you use mica powders in your mix and do you get the same results
As the beautiful metallics you use
Thanks again your great
Your instructions were great
Wow! So pretty! Cool😊👏
Thanks for this , I have been wanting to try this for a while.
Thank you so much for breaking it down! What ratio have you used for just paint and water? Just starting out, I want to get a handle on things before adding in floetrol.
Very nice... I’m starting my first project soon... why did u not add the silicone drops and how much medium pour is needed for a 16 by 20 canvas..
Nice video very helpfull too you inspire people
This is very pretty. I have a question after it dries do you put a glossy coat on top of it?
You Rock!! I wish you were my teacher in high school 🌸. That was awesome. You make it all so simple the way you explain it. I LOVE this painting!!! It’s SO BEAUTIFUL!

Judy Russell good question, I'd love to know the answer to this.
Good question
Just subbed you are amazing at explaining! Thank you so much!
Yesssss! Thank you Marcy!! ♡♡
It's great to learn from the best.
❤❤❤❤
Great job 👍. Do you torch it to create the cells? Thanks
Thank you, question when you premix paint how long does the paint last?
Example: if I premix my paint, can it last two weeks or more?
Hii... your work is beautiful❤️.Thanks. I also wanted to know about the top coat... do we need to apply any top coat after this dries up?
Awesome! Thanks for this! I was wondering how/where you set your paintings to dry.
