This is the best math teaching. My teacher is school was not very exciting for me, so I didn't learn mathematics. Unfortunately.

    Hi Mr H !
Just a quick note to thank you for the time and effort you’ve taken in making these various videos!
I’ve just discovered them via one of your shorts I ran across while vacationing in Hawaii. (Waiting while my wife shops)
I’ve recently retired and have always loved math, but I never made the connection in H.S. thanks to a poor math teacher and an aggressive teacher’s union.
Your videos are SO WELL DONE, you have done such an absolutely excellent job at making the complex seem easy!! Thank you!!
I see your last video was about 2 years ago - not sure why you stopped, I’d love it if you could find the time to pick it up again!
What would be nice, barring that, would be a video from you outlining the best books and web sites for a person to use as they progress thru the study of mathematics.
There is so much out there- to have a person of your skill parse thru the noise and identify the best sources of knowledge would be great!
Hope all is indeed going well for you, thanks again for the excellent work!!
    Mr J.H.

The first method(for the simultaneous equation) won't always work, it only works under the condition that the expression left in the bracket is equal to the expression we found by adding up the two simultaneous equations(we can't substitute it). I'd say the elimination method, or the substitute method if you're going for the slower way still have their props.
But it's a creative way to solving it!
Side note: Is this called simultaneous equations in the states? I'm not from America😂

So I watched your video on short method to approx square root of a number. It worked well for your example and a few others.
BUT when I tried it for sqrt of 15 it did not work well. So I changed it to closest square which was 16 and subtracted instead of adding an offset. Then it worked pretty well. Happy to have your comments on this.

Using the method from the other video
      3+6/(2x3)= 4
√15 on the calculator is equal to 3.873.
      It's off by .03.
The difference will be less when taking the square root of a larger number.

7:41 why does this work? I mean you could've different values for r and t too right? Let's say x=4, so 5x+4 is going to give us 24 and rx+t is also going to give us 24 (LHS=RHS). But r might also be equal to 6 and t equal to 0. In that case too, (6×4)+0=24. And rt becomes (6×0)=0.

The only problem here is: how do you know that you're going to end up with (5x + 2) which just happens to be a perfect factor of 100x + 40y before you calculate it that way?
