I'd much rather find a book I want to binge read than find a show to binge watch!

@@DavidWiley7 You are very welcome. And I will send you my next novel which, at this rate, should arrive in 2033. 🤷‍♂

I've been hearing a lot of good things about The Book of the New Sun and I really getting interested in reading it.
I'm pleased you enjoyed The Killer Angels. I've read a good bit about the American Civil War (or more correctly, The War of Northern Aggression :) ) and The Killer Angels really is one of the best. I highly recommend the video course from The Great Courses by Gary W. Gallagher, Ph.D. (wait for it to go on sale if you want the DVDs, which I recommend. The DVDs also come with a printed book with a summary and additional info). Another good resource is Ordeal By Fire: The Civil War and Reconstruction by James M. McPherson. If alternate historical fiction is your thing, I highly recommend The Guns of the South by Harry Turtledove. It's not the focus of the book, but it does a good job contrasting the racism of the 1800s that was used to justify slavery, versus what racism became in the 20th century.

I'll try to keep watch for all three of those! Thanks for the great recommendations.

Agreed the Killer Angels is excellent. His son, Jeff Shaara, completed a trilogy around this book and wrote many others as well. They are okay but certainly not at the level his father realized in the original book. I am fascinated by the Civil War even though I am a Canadian. The Shelby Foote 3 volume non-fiction The Civil War is also excellent because it is engaging and reads like a novel.

I think I've heard the Foote series mentioned a few times in the past, and will be sure to watch for those!

I wanted to do NaNoWriMo this year, but I didn’t end up getting anything planned much. Maybe I still will. I’ve still got 8.5 hours left in my day. 🤔

Well, my Nano hasn't been great so far but I've done more writing than I probably would have otherwise!

The Killer Angels is terrific! Batman: Year One is far better than The Dark Knight Returns.

I sure hope it is better, and is the beginning of my real delve into some Batman comics.
