Nice and honest explanation of your feelings around music production and the love of it. Awesome studio too. I'm sure myself and others would love to see you breakdown the production process in more detail, maybe a video showing your methods from having an initial jamming idea to completing a finished track that's ready for mastering. Btw, as a 50yo who was at UK raves in the early 90s, I really appreciate your use of the sounds from that era. Keep it up guys! 👍
Q: when it comes to jamming on and recording drums eg 909 or jomox, do you record fairly clean and then saturate and post -process later OR do you process (eq, saturate) drum tracks as much as as possible before hitting the sound card / converters? Cheers! Love the most recent album btw, so ace!
A fine example of doing your research, keeping your feet on the ground, learning about what the legacy and history of dance music is, not like all the drivel that is out there at the moment based on style not substance.
Great studio, great choices both in instruments as well as in outboard. Some legends, some surprises, well-balanced I'd say. Q1: Is there any device right now that you really would like to add? Q2: Do you regret selling something specific? Cheers and all the best 🎉
Loved the new album. I think it's the most adventurous thing they've made since the first two albums they made back when they were a trio. Nice to hear them making something other than balls to the wall bang boom techno stuff.
@Magic_carpet666 comments like yours are painful to read as they are so disrespectful. Be happy that non-natives talk english so that you at least can understand most parts. You can also turn on english subtitles
The one thing I am curious about is how all of the outputs are connected. Is everything plugged in at once or do the cables need to be switched out or how does it work. I'm kinda new to a full hardware gear only setup (currently having set up MPC1000, TR-09, TB-03 and Microkorg) and trying to incorporate a hardware compressor is giving me a few headscratches and cuts on my hands having to go behind the desk to replug things and keep track where the spaghetti cables are going. I see there's a patch bay, is that what would be beneficial in my case? Any recommendations? Open to hear ideas :D
Everything is connected through the patchbay. A TT patchbay offers higher quality and is built more robustly, but a well-made jack patchbay can also perform well. Avoid cheap patchbays, as they may compromise sound clarity.
Not sure what the sub on the floor is. Only got a small glimpse of it in the video. The monitors are KSD C88s, and also the have a pair of what look to be small genelecs maybe?
The small Genelecs look like 8331 from the fabulous "The Ones" series. They're incredible, we have four sets of these at work, but as 2.1 with 7360 subs.
Hey FJAAK, excited to see you in Boston on Sunday! I've been performing livesets for many years, playing festivals, winning awards, going on tour... etc. I feel like my music career isn't going anywhere. I'm performing 2-5 times per month in the area and basically feel like I'm hitting a wall. Do you think staying in the USA is a bad idea for someone like me? I'm thinking of moving the NYC area because...well...it's NYC! I don't see this going anywhere otherwise, but you guys are much more well-travelled than I am.
USAMO by Expert Sleepers is much cheaper, but I don't know how it compares re: tightness. It deffo uses the same tech and is "sample accurate". Has similar features, but only accessible within the VST, so you can't "play" it in the same way.
@@ElectronicBeatsTV no, thats wrong. the MPC's and EMU SPs for example have certain characters. they are all digital. also 16 bit, 13 bit, 12 bit, 8 bit etc sounds different. i know what you mean, some digital synths for example sound they exact same as their plugins
@snares3326 Iam talking about digital synths like they mention not about samplers with analog or other characteristic filters or sample rates. A digital synth like a M1 sounds the same as plug in.
@@ElectronicBeatsTV ... that's only true if the same algorithms are being used. So only the manufacturer will really know. Most emulation plugins just live of their picture perfect look. Add some great marketing effort and folks will buy the next xyz emulation believing it sounds just like the real thing.
Hardware is less about the sound than how you interact with the machine in the moment. Plugins have sounded great for years, midi controllers just don’t offer the same level of muscle memory that a good hardware UI offers.
Great Studio, Great Video and lot of passion, please try using a higher end AD/DA, you deserve it, maybe a Burl, Mytek for playback, high end RME, that gear you have is going to sound even tastier with top converters.
haha the resampling function is only made in seconds when its a really short sample, like half a second to a second. a 10 second sample can take up to 6 or more hours to resample
@5:21 It results in aliasing artefacts not anti-aliasing. The latter removes the artefacts in question. Yes, sounds cool, but it's non-harmonic distortion, not overtones in the sense that regular distortion sounds good. Sounds harsher.
I think you can perfectly do what the acme does with the ms setting in ableton under the mixer (if made visible of course) but honestly didn’t check yet if I can link it to midi and set the boundaries in the midi assignment window (like from 0 to 50 ms)
If this would be the case these tools were useless. Especially Ableton is kind of „famous“ for the bad midi clock timing. It works okay but not as tight as ACME or the Multiclock.

Cool guys, they invested all they have on their passion, that’s something I can relate to.
Thanks guys! You are fantastic and inspiring!!!
😊🙏🎹🎛️🎹
awesome guys, real passion is priceless
What a dream studio.
I collect records. Techno mostly. One of them being a Fjaak record. Love there production and taste in Techno.
straight forward. so cool!
Nice to have a look at your setup. Looking forward to the Stoor session @ ADE coming October. Bring it on!
6:54 We are not alone! #pluginaliens Love these guys!
Fjaak is coming to chicago!!!! So excited ❤
Love at the heart of everything its the jamming. Rest is bolted on
Great video - as always. I could listen to those guys talking about gear for hours! ❤
Top Typen. Die Musik flowt wie die Havel, ist massiv wie das Rathaus Spandau, erinnert an "back to the roots" wie die Zitadelle.
I‘ve got also the Juno 106, great sounds. Never too old to be used…
would love to just sit in their studio and witness them making a track
or make tracks with them ! :D
I understand it’s for them about recording convience and workflow.
What a sick setup for a sick sound!
They got an SP 1200. Damnnnnn!!!🤤. Yeah, I'm drooling, lol.
Großartig!!
Thank you! Another good one!
I FOLLOW THIS GUYS FROM START I LOVE THIS GUYS CHILL AS FUCK WEED AND AMAZING STUDIO JAMMING WHAT NEED MORE IN LIFE ?? NOTHING!!!
That Korg M1 synth, bought it finally this year can’t believe I didn’t buy it years ago
Cheap classic. One of the most sold synths of all time.
By the way - great job this year @ the street parade in Zurich
Sick setup 😮

what sort of imac is that? and looks around 2019, im wondering what the specs on that is to hand all the processing?
