There was racing team espionage and actually good racing scenes. The drivers included a former Air Force pilot with PTSD, the kid who's dad owns the race team, Generic White Man and a Generic Strong Lady and yet they were all written fairly well for a kids show. Everyone had great moments and actual character evolution. The show probably could've been written to mimic real NASCAR drama and it would've brought in even more young fans. Either way, it was an incredible time to be 8 year old me watching and it holds up as 28 year old me now.

I’ve Never Seen Or Known That This Show Existed. But When I Look At It, It Reminds Me Of Speed Racer/Hot Wheels Except It’s NASCAR Themed. I May Give It A Watch At Somepoint, Let Me Know If It’s Any Good.
Now that I think about it, I'm shocked NASCAR didn't try to get it on Cartoon Network's "Toonami" block, given how it was really taking off given the additions of Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and Gundam Wing at the time! Would have been interesting to see NASCAR Racers sharing the block with those shows, plus Toonami was well known for its epic intros to the respective shows too, they even made Hamtaro and Cardcaptors look hype, now that's saying something!
OH. MY. GOD. Ancient memory unlocked. This may very well have been my first introduction to NASCAR, probably when I was like 5-6 years old. Shortly after that, I saw my first race, the Daytona 500...in 2001...guess it could only go up from there. 😅
Basically if NASCAR had an F-Zero like series. I actually remember this show as it was apart of my childhood. For a children's show it did have some interesting storylines you reflect on & have a different perspective of as an adult years later, especially with Flyer _(Representation of PTSD; The nerve gas story was to provide a simple explanation to a child)._ This & _Dragon Booster_ (Basically NASCAR but with Dragons instead of cars & with a non-racing storyline) were huge staples for a racing fan that was a child during those days.
I remember third generation NASCAR Driver Changer McCuthen possibly because he might have been inspired several real life drivers, namely Kyle Petty who had been driving for 21 years at that point and then two Busch Series Champion Dale Earnhardt, Jr who was then an up and coming Winston Cup Series driver.
I'd rather a live action movie based off this than a Days of Thunder sequel. I've seen Speedracer and it's stupid. The plot to NASCAR Racers echoed that of the innovation we've seen and drama throughout the garage over the years.
FINALLY SOMEONE FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGED THIS SHOW !!! THANK YOU SIR !!. I remember this during the good old days. During the commercial breaks, there would be a driver giving safety tips for the road. I had a Flyer toothbrush, and a couple of the cars. Good times good times.
I used to watch clips from the show back then, I didn’t even remember NASCAR Racers until this year when I found some more clips and ads from said show.
Darren, there is also the fact that Mattel went all in with Hot Wheels and made both Highway 35 and then Acceleracers during said period to celebrate Hot Wheels anniversary and the introduction of the Acceleracers line, i even remember the Discovery special where Fooze made the Life sized Deora 2.
I was really into this cartoon when it was on. Personally, I think it hasn't aged very well, though. The second season was where I really started to notice how desperate they were getting.
Holy carp! I had forgotten about this show! But I was pretty obsessed with it back in the day, though IIRC I thought it "jumped the shark" during the second season.
Yeah. This dug up a deep Nostalgia bubble, especially going as Charger for Halloween. Think I was disappointed that the cars weren't compatible with my hot wheels tracks at the time too
Shame I never got into this show, maybe it's because it looked more F-Zero-ish than a more grounded Nascar animated seeries. It's basically Nascar, but in the future. With that said, despite it's kid focus, the fact that the main characters are adults is one thing that stood out with many shows preferring to make them teenagers or kids, and from what I heard, it's not afraid to be a bit dark.
Charger pretty much had it the easiest, having to fill his dad and grandfather's shoes. Then you had Megan, who found out she was adopted, causing her to drift from her family for awhile. Stunts had to deal with getting money to pay for his father's treatment, and Flier basically had nerve damage/PTSD. Oh and the Collector mutating because of the toxic fuel was pretty gnarly too.
I remember this show being advertised on some Cup cars that include Bobby Labonte, Kenny Wallace (Square D 55), Jeff Gordon, & Terry Labonte. I still have a 1:64th scale version of Kenny Wallace's car somewhere!
Its interesting to think if 'NASCAR Racers' being on Cartoon Network instead of Fox. It could have been a different story on the show's longevity, especially if it was placed on the Toonami block, as the show kinda fits the mold for an action cartoon. Either way, they were also competing with a ton of other shows like Batman Beyond and Pokémon at the time, that probably didn't help things either.
I remember watching this all summer one year. Though I can't help, but call cap quite a few times and also think that 10 year old me would've loved this. That and the thought that a nerve gas that induces panic attacks sounds waaay more effective than actually shooting people.
I had one of the toys growing up and it is what got me into NASCAR. I am working on making a studio and would love to bring the show back and make season 3 and beyond
Had some of the Wendy's kids meal toys from this show being puzzled, wondering why the toy never looked like a real stock car. Never knew the show existed until a few years ago. 😂
I loved NASCAR Racers. With that said, we really need a new animated NASCAR series. Give it a anime style animation because that is what the younger generation likes along with a realistic but entertaining story. It should be for the tween to teenager age groups
As a non american who had zero idea about NASCAR at the time, this is was my first contact with NASCAR itself. I was a 6 years old kid and i was fascinated with the cars and the animations. During 2000s i discovered the existence NASCAR 2000 for N64 and i was like "This is related with the NASCAR Racers from Fox Kids and those futuristic cars?". I later understood the relationship between the cartoon and NASCAR.
This just unlocked a deep memory I had. Haven't thought about this show in 20 years, now I remember having the movie, some toys, and even a bed cover from this show when I was a kid
This cartoon shockingly is the show that got me into NASCAR period. I mean I said to myself if I can watch cars with rocket boosters and watch cars go on loops and ovals. This is telling me I can watch real NASCAR and ever since Spring Talladega 2000 I’ve always been a fan of NASCAR and Motorsports and have no regrets all the Motorsports and race experiences I’ve gotten to witness especially in person.
I was a kid when this show came out. I literally watched every show and loved the toys. In fact I still have the McDonald's toys 😂 I miss it cause it was awesome
This show was a part of my childhood. I used to love watching this show, as I was a nascar fan when I was a kid and I still am a fan of NASCAR, despite all the changes to the sport.
The memories this video has brought back are too real. Around the same time as this, there was an unrelated comic book series that also took inspiration from NASCAR, titled RaceWarrior, even featuring interview articles with drivers such as Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, and Tony Stewart, along with safety pioneer Bill Simpson. The comic followed the aptly-titled Team RaceWarrior, led by the not-so-subtly named Dr. RACSAN and their endeavors in stock car racing taking place in a fictional interpretation of the year 2020, involving futuristic tracks known as superloopers, along with cybernetically-enhanced biosuits.
This show was a weird easter egg of millennial NASCAR fandom, because you never knew what channel was showing it. Then you’d randomly see it and think “Oh sh*t, it’s NASCAR Racers!!"
i first discovered this show on Jetix and while i was already a nascar fan this fueled my love even more also interesting fact you overlooked they had pullback cars that were sold in kids meals at wendy's in either the very late 90s or early 00s ive got charger spitfire and the collector
The animation style of this series reminds me of shows like He-Man. I can see what they were trying to do, and it's a pity it didn't work too well. When I was a kid, I would have liked to see a TV series for kids about F1, but nowadays, I'm kind of glad they didn't. Making fictional shows about motorsport, much like films to do with motorsport, is a trick line to follow
Used to play this game a ton on PC. This cartoon led into the race and it’s how I learned about NASCAR they should bring it back! Been a fan since 2000!
I had a Mattel Shogun racers toy car when this aired on Jetix and I always though it was from that Nascar show. And now I realised you mix everything growing up 😆
NO F*CKING WAY I JUST FOUND A VIDEO TALKING ABOUT NASCAR RACERS. I love this show (I downloaded the entire series) and I'm growing my collection of toys and misc merchandise as well. So awesome to see this video

This looks like if F-Zero crossed over with G.I. Joe. It looks like if Akira was made during an acid trip.
To me it reminds me of Hotwheels Acceleracers
The visuals are similar to the F-Zero anime.
@TheMNrailfan227 one of NASCAR Racers' creators, Mark Edens, was actually involved in creating the AcceleRacers series as well.
