BEST FOOD TRUCK in NYC! Adel's Halal | AMAZING Street Food!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 чер 2024
- Move over Halal Guys, Adel's Famous Halal Food is the best halal cart in New York City! Halal Guys may be a big name and a rapidly growing chain, but Adel's is the best street food in NYC and one of New York City's best food trucks! Its mouthwatering chicken over rice and lamb over rice is better than any dish at Halal Guys. Similarly to Halal Guys, it's located in Midtown Manhattan right by Rockefeller Center and Radio City Music Hall. Next time you're visiting the Big Apple and visiting Time Square, swing by Adel's for great NYC eats! It's a well-known local eats spot and not yet a tourist attraction.
In this video, we pit Adel's vs Halal Guys, to determine which one is the best, and it's no contest! Check out my video and see what the best chicken and rice cart in NYC is!

Adel's Famous Halal Food
1221 6th Ave, New York, NY 10020
The Halal Guys
6th Avenue &, W 53rd St, New York, 10019
As a NYC cabbie since 1992, I started my day at the Hilton line around 3am, hoping to get an airport job, that's the time the OWNER of halal guys started his food chain, and I would get a chicken over rice or mixed platter, which was made by the owner himself, and it was extremely addictive taste and the line got longer and longer for years to come. But for the last 10 years, it's quality evaporated in thin air because the owner got himself a billionaire status and hired the crew that's basically boiling the chicken with little or no marination and destroyed the business by selling the food with little or no concern, for example, mostly their chicken is warm and not hot. They only rely on white sauce and hot sauce and the service they provide is horrible.
I gave up on the halal guys and moved on to ADELS halal food on 49th and 6th Avenue just a few blocks away. That's a legitimate marination heaven of grilled food and definitely worth your time and money without any shadow of a doubt. I'm a chef myself, so I promise you, I know what I'm talking about. Salute!
So as a tourist
Adel’s
What other street food is MUST HAVE?
You have endless content you can cover. Not only all 50 states, but the world is yours. Keep up the great content. Momentum is on your side. Proud of you!!
Sad how halal guys went downhill because of their huge corporate expansion. Definitely not what it used to be. I remember coming here back in the day like around 2014-2017 frequently and it was only 7$ for large platter 5$ for small platter. Chicken was amazing and food was always piping hot and fresh made
Price wouldn't be such a bad thing is the quality was the same. Never wanna go there again anymore now.
Truthfully, they were trash before they went corporate. Absolutely overrated.
@@harisundaramohan8836that's only your trash opinion
Ever since Halal guys franchised and expanded, downhill for me too. The last few times I was there, not even filled to the top. Also visited one of their restaurants in Farmingdale and the large mix platter was $12.50. I'd rather go to a local halal place which seems to be popping up all over.
Big facts
Hey there friend. I never comment on anything as I watch so much. So so much of everything out there. You are very special. This doesn’t even pertain to this video specifically I just give you your praises. Please don’t stop. Don’t feel some need to get crazier or level up or something. The views will come. The linear storytelling, the straight cuts, the fun little cheesy piano. It’s great. You have this quality to you and your straight, honest, genuine excitement for creature comfort. So respectful, but tough. Humble, but such a joy to watch you pump your fist in sheer bliss. I can taste every bite. Good man. It’s hard to describe. Watching you at times gives me a feeling of homesick for a place I’ve never been. Live that best life brother.
first time watching your video, gotta say your review is genuine and honest. Not too sondescending but at. like the vid eventhough i'm only half way through
Thank you for reviewing Halal food :) Will defs try Adel's
One thing that always strikes me while watching your uploads is your total honesty. Being critical is one thing, being honest is another thing; you are honest thankfully, that is what matters.
I am glad I subscribed to your channel. Kindly keep up the good work, all the very best, thank you 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏
Good review! Heading there now while typing this.
I love the honest reviews. Keep it up
Thanks! Glad you like my content!
Man, You deserve more subscribers, views and likes I love ur videos
Nice to find your channel. All we have out here in Las Vegas is Halal Guys! Lamb over rice 🤤🤤🤤
On a UA Eats binge xD Keep up the great videos!
Also that Adel's looks night and day vs Halal Guys! Thanks for showing the behind-the-scenes sections as well like the line and finding random NYC places to sit down and eat!
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the content!
Your videos are awesome! Simply great quality. You deserve way more subscribers. Keep up with making videos like this. So simple and full of quality! I totally love watching your videos!
Thanks so much! It's okay my channel is still new so hopefully more subscribers will come as I post more. The positive feedback helps keep me going though!
love the video :)
Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video!
I'll definitely check this out.
Totally agree on the quality and taste of the Adel’s vs the HG and yes the HG used to be the best but not anymore. The only prob with Adel’s is that they only have one cart and minimum wait time is 45 mins on avg day (I have stood for more than an hour couple times) and they have not figured out how to speed up the line yet which is why I had to skip it so many times.
Not from the area, but what are their operating times? Is is possible to catch them early in the AM like 4-5AM?
You can't speed up quality. Especially from a little food truck
They're like Halal Guys from the beginning
Don't think you want them to expand too much
Food quality goes down 🤣 😆 🙄 🤦♂
Great job!
Thank you!
Keep on excelling by making wonderful videos! Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Thanks! I'll keep doing my best. Glad to see my channel has reached all the way to Bangladesh!
@@uaeats if possible, please make videos on Bangladeshi foods in New York or in any part of USA 😃
@@SleepingKing936 I can look into it! Here in NYC and NJ there are large populations of people from South Asia. I'm sure I can find an authentic Bangladeshi restaurant somewhere! Just don't judge if I am unfamiliar with the foods and mispronounce them or eat them wrong haha
Really helpful comparison. The HG serving looked super sad and I know when they just gave you the sauce packets that it was going to be disappointing. Gotta seek out Adele’s 👍
Love your reviews and man, can you eat!
Food carts in Manhattan. Fascinating.
Man I love your videos! Watching you is addictive.
Thanks man! Means a lot coming from another creator!
My go-to in college was Tiger Halal on 49th, not sure if they're even still around, but will need to give Adel's a shot!
I'll try to find out if tiger halal is still there, but yes try Adel's! Their spicy rice is awesome!
looks yummy
Great content. Can you tell us how long the waits are? I was thinking about this for ur Katz videos as well
Great video. I agree about the comparison. Halal Guys was very different when it started. I really hope they go back to their old standard. And yup, I remember the word going around us South Asianers about the "chicken rice" in Manhattan. They started it. Adel's is great, so is Shah's. I'd say getting Adel's and sitting near that big fountain area, is an essential New York experience. Thanks again for the video!
Thanks for watching! The Halal Guys Union Square storefront location is much better, but the carts are all tourist traps now. They started the NYC halal cart trend though and have made the jump to nationwide chain (just like Shake Shack) so I'm happy for them. Adel's is now Halal Cart King of NY though! I haven't had Shah's yet, I'll try it soon!
THANNNNNK YOUUUI AGAIN IM FROM THE BRONX AND YES HALAL GUY'S FELL OFF THANK YOU
Agreed! Quality has fallen a lot at Halal Guys
let's go love it kip it up
Thanks!!!
This channel makes me miss living in NY. It's been 23 years since I relocated.
I like your videos but can you start doing other restaurants besides just in New York
Anything like Adel's in So Cal? The hype for Adel's has got me craving this!
Really ENJOY Your Site .. If We were still Living in South Jersey
We would be up there Eating .....North Carolina Dose not have the
Trucks ... How is Your Site doing , Hopefully Great ...Lots of Fun !!!
You GO, Adel!
You should try Bashir's halal food in Jackson heights!
Hi UA, I find your videos refreshing and honest. Just one piece of advice, when you're self-recording please be aware that the image/video displays BACKWARDS to the viewers and this is a wee-bit annoying. Try to fix this simple thing in future videos.
Oh I see my self right there lol. Keep it up ma man!! great energy and content. Market it more, you deserve way more subscribers..
Thank you so much for the kind words! Yep hope the channel continues to grow! Also hope to see you around nyc again sometime!
@@uaeats you deserve it man, i live in Hoboken and from one of your videos it looks like you live in NJ too. Lets co-venture some day. Best wishes for your channel
Sounds good let's do it! And thanks!
Its amazing to see how fast your channel has grown, hard work pays off man. I came back to this video as i noticed today that the halal guys had a few people in the line , while Adel's line was going around the corner literally, and i thought of your video that wow! UA's video made a huge impact@@uaeats
I'm so jealous we don't have these halal carts where I live really want to try that Adel's Halal cart wow 😋
🔥🔥
Adel's is fire indeed!
I'll be visiting them
It's great!
You should also try Halal Boyz in Fresh Meadows. Them and Shah’s Halal Cart are amazing
Thanks for the recs! I'll check them out sometime!
Lol they aren’t that great
Try the Shwarmabay truck across from Adel's!
It's alright never near better then adels
Can I buy some of your UA-cam channel stock? Rising Star for sure. Great reviews with no BS or fluff
It's the face he makes after something good
I plan on Trying this place out hopefully this week. I never knew it existed
Yes please try it! It's very close to Halal Guys but much better! Pretty long lines now so once you're close it's hard to miss
@@uaeats I have been going to halal guys since 2005.I was there last week.
How long have you been going to Adel's
@@JAMAICANGOLD567 Only for a month or 2. But I loved it and had to share it!
@@uaeats I'm just starting in UA-cam as well.I have a feeling this will be your video that's makes your channel pop.
I plan on checking out that burger place in JC
Also if you like Dirty water dogs Check out Big Daddy's in Littlefalls NJ
Good luck
@@JAMAICANGOLD567 Thanks so much! Yeah the video has really been taking off! Regarding White Star Bar in JC I wouldn't make the trek unless it's on the way for you. I went not long ago and the quality has fallen drastically
Adele s?i live in the bronx nyc, didn't know about adelles..thank you and God bless you bruh
You're welcome! Check out Adel's sometime for sure, it's great! Just be prepared for the long line
How long was the wait for Adele's?
Just an observation. Are you using a camera with a flip out screen? It seems like you're looking at the screen and not the lens.
can you do review rice over chicken 54 and Park
🔥
Adel's rocks!
I would imagine they had to change their workflow at the carts cos of strict NYC health code requirements. If you go the standalone Halal Guy's restaurants they've built a chain on, the chicken is great.
King of Falafel and Shwarma from Astoria, Queens is the best Halal food in NYC hands down. They also have a truck at 53rd and Park.
I'll try it sometime!
@@uaeats they make the Palestinian version. Try the original chicken platter, or the Freddy Junior. Yeahhhh baby! haha
I always preferred Adel’s over Halal Guys. Next up, you should try the mutton chop at Keens steakhouse. All the best.
Yes Adel's is awesome. A lot of people have recommended keens. I'll try it!
Dam, I just saw the price at Keens for their Chops dude i wish i could try it, hope i hit the Mega tonight then i defiantly will.
Yep ..long time before I get to try Keen's myself. Hope it's still there in vanishing old NY
Is the white sauce a sour cream base?
Can you now include the price of these places
Sad to hear that the Halal Guys have fallen off. I used to go there years ago when I worked nights for the Transit Authority and I would go there with the guys if we were in the area and we would stop for lunch and when I say lunch I mean like around 4am. There would usually be us and cab drivers there with a few other people tossed in.
Thanks for sharing your story! Interesting to hear what it was like in those days.
Their food reminds me of chain restaurant mall food
You should try Hamza Madina cart it is literally the best cart in Queens It on 255 street
Simply your opinion.
you got soup from adels?
What if you took the sauce packets from halal guys and used it on adels halal?
Just tried Adel's and its way better i don't think they use as much if any msg as Halal guy's, also Halal guys seem like they changed the hot sauce it use to be a lot hotter to me and taste like they add more cyan pepper now. Adel's the best to me but the line is very long( its not really the line but the waiting time on line is a lot longer than Halal guys )
That dry chicken and u gotta put the sauce 😂😂😂😂😂
Gotta try King of Falafel and Shawarma in Astoria Queens one the best in the city
I'll give those a try!
@@uaeats go to the truck location on Ditmars boulevard
It’s addictive and haves crack in it 😂 🤤
Whats the cost of both these places ?
i drank every time he mispronounced gyro, and now im on the floor
Adel's is amazing not gonna lie
It is. I'm a big fan!
We have halal guys in Canada and honestly our chicken looks so much better than what you had. The sauces are really the star, though. We have a ton of shawarma places that are better. Adel's looks SO GOOD though.
How much per plate, as of today?
I'm waiting you to visit Jakarta
They are the first
Adel's? Or Halal Guys?
Adel’s is open 6PM to 4 AM with a line forming at 5:30. So no lunch service.
So you mean beef at Adel and not lamb right? Secondly you didnt share the prices.
Cheak out Mahmoud cart in Steinway and 34thave and king of falafel on Broadway in astoria 2 halal gyro one is a truck n the other a restaurant
Thanks for the recommendation! I'll definitely check them both out
finally got to try Adel's after standing in line for 40 minutes, was it good? yes, was it 40 minutes good? no.
Love your review but the music is easy too loud
Adeles 49th and 6th?
“Squirrel” Who else thought that 🤣
The rice 🍚meals look value for the money, lots of food per tray, how much are they, how much do they cost ?
Halal guys become total blend and famous among tourists only.
Adels is famous among new yorkers , and rarely when new york has patience to waiting 1hr-2hrs ...
The line become insane...
You can be full , but when you start eating from adels, it is extremely difficult to stop ...it is magical experience.
You can take the f or 7 or r train to broadway and rossevelt
Another cart that is good is Sammy’s halal they have mutiple carts but the main one is in Jackson heights
The old timey music..🤔
What do you think about it?
I love it...its definitely a choice!😎
Waiting on a long line for halal in nyc is nuts. Not one cab driver in sight. Go to BK and Queens like the rest of us. lol
What do cab drivers have to do with it? They know where the good food is?
What’s the price points at Adels?
About $8
Shah’s Halal Cart is the best in my opinion
I know Halal is the trend now, but I still miss the Greek Carts in the city, what happened to them? I mean the Gyro, Souvlaki carts.....
They’re in Queens now. Mostly Astoria.
You said the best indian restos are in new jersey pls show us some good indian food
Never been to either of the two places, but here is what I think.
Adels looked better. And lamb over beef any time. The chicken looked also more appetizing. I grew up eating doener (in Berlin). They used to use lamb, last I heard they switched to beef.
Another reason I think the meat was better is that at Adels they carved it with a knife. I saw a documentary on the Halal stand and they cut their meat with one of those electric shavers, the meat is cut thinner due to that, and meat can dry out quicker.
I feel like Halal Guys has always been like that
I like this guy the groaning sounds gets me every time 😂
Thanks! Haha sorry am I too loud when eating?
You are totally "Spot On" The Halal Guy's are not the best and just doing volume! It's all about the money 💰 sometimes .Quality is just not the same and I have been going to 53rd and 6th over 23 years....Adel's is much Better!! 👍
The brick and mortar location at union square is much better, probably because they can keep the chicken moist in trays instead of just on a flat top, but the carts are sadly just tourist traps at this point.
@@uaeats I have been to a few of their stores and still was disappointed in the quality. They just opened one in Yankee Stadium. Can you imagine baseball, hotdogs and Halal...lol !!🤣
Can you please remind me of Adel's exact location. Is it across the street from Radio City?
@@scottmorosky4983 Ah I have only been to their Union Square storefront location. I thought it was decent but it was also a long time ago. And Adel's is at 49th street and 6th ave!
He is NOT kidding about the hot sauce. I'm a (20+ years of Thai cooking hot) 5-8 packet hot sauce per plate guy And my friends are too, but 1 packet is ALL you need with the Halal guys. And it is NOT a college bar- spicy to make you drink, it is amazingly tasty and savory...before it takes you out back and mugs you.
but who tf asked
Great comparison review!
Seems like the Halal Guys have modified their food to serve the local white people palate, and industrialized their production, both to increase sales volume.
This assessment is supported by the fact that:
1. They are selling boiled chicken and flavourless rice which suits the western taste.
2. The flavour is all in the packaged sauces, which help production speed and volume, while allowing the locals to choose how much flavour they can handle.
Just by looks alone, Adele’s seems to be the better choice
small note: I believe they put the squeeze bottles with hot, barbecue and white sauce on the side of the cart for you to drizzle as much as you like on it. That could've changed since the last time I went, but that's how it used to be back when they first stopped putting it on top for you.
I didn't see them but maybe I just missed them! If that's the case though why give us the packets?
@@uaeats I personally liked it that way because they don’t have packets for barbecue and I would get way more sauce than would come in the packet. Also, now that I remember I think they would only do that late at night at least back when I worked around there and would go after my shift past 10 pm.
Weird cause the chicken at the halal guys by where I live doesn’t look like that.
Adel’s is my favorite but the line is always long and the service is slow
Yes it's a very long line. I recommend going earlier in the day for an earlier dinner, around 5 or 6, to avoid the 40+ minute waits
Homies Asian said came out in those humm's
I miss halal guys hot sauce so much
Adel's can keep up as long as they dont sell out like Halal guys
love the way UA eats, closes his eyes and starts banging his feet lol..dude where is your mask?
Btw it’s not by much, but Adel’s predates Halal Guys.
