This story is very related to my experience. As a civil engineer student at one of the prestigious uni too, i failed to graduate in 4 years because I am to afraid to quit an organizational activity outside campus that turns out have a very bad impact to my life and study. I am afraid about what other people in the organization think about me if i quit. Like Zahid said, we have to think reasonably about this kind of problem and what other people think is not a reasonable reason to stay.
One big thing that i learned from this story and my story is our life, time, future is in our hand, we are the one who have to determine our life not somebody else. Doesn't mean that we ignore everyone's opinion, but that's not the purpose of the decision that we make for our lives.

Good luck for your next adventure Zahid :) such as an inspiring talk you shared in this video. 3 lessons I gained when I decided to quit my old job:
    1. The courage to start new
    2. The strength to move forward, and
    3. The ability to value myself better :)
For everyone who is in the middle of making an important decision in life: trust your gut feeling. Wishing you all the best.

last week, I have withdrawn my credentials from a well-known university in my country. I'm in third year architecture, but I guess I chose this major for the wrong reason: being hyped with the drawing and presentation aspect. (I didn't see myself in the profession). I couldn't take the toxic learning environment anymore since it was already costing my sanity (esp sleepless nights and peer pressure)
Right now, I signed up for a university where I know I would fit in. also, I ventured into a science major, BS in Biology.
I find this video very comforting since it validates the idea that Quitting is for Winners. For others out there who are feeling lost, I wish us all good luck and hopefully will have the opportunity to bring out our narratives.💓

I actually relate to your situation very much . I was in my first year architecture but by the second semester I had the exact same realization as you had. I couldn’t handle the toxic environment as well as realized that I couldn’t see my future in the career so I changed my department in the university and instead went into industrial engineering. It was a big risk at the time and I am still dealing with the adjustments but truly it was the best decision that I took.

The uncertainty of choosing a path to take in our life is something that will and always be haunting us. Eventually, we can only react to present task that is in front of us. With that said, I couldn't stress my self to create a 'masterpiece' rather I have to focus on what I am facing today and work on my self to become a better person.
We are not wasting time by learning new things or studying subjects that we don't really feel into it, because it is part of the journey and the journey will always continue throughout our life. What I get from Zahid's perspective, choosing to quit means you want to focus on specific purpose which lead the direction to your goals.

Indonesian here, I graduated med school a year ago and just failed my licensing exam. Back in high school I was lost and didn’t know what to become, I did not receive the guidance I needed as a teenager. My parents wanted me to become a doctor and as the eldest child I pursued medicine to make them happy. 7 years later I’m not the happiest I’ve ever been, I can’t quit because the many years my parents invested in my studies. I’ve tried to like medicine all these years but just couldn’t and constantly trying to find a reason to keep going. Being on meds for my depression and anxiety is not worth it, but in our culture parents would always be first. Please pray for me to find my way, thank you x

Quitting is part of seeking for an assumed better option. It takes courage which many lack of. Well, nice to see an Indonesian youth given a chance to share his life.

Fortunately UA-cam brought me here when I'm in doubt asking what if I quit? What if I'm wrong in making decisions? Thanks TED, thanks Ibrahim

Well in my opinion, first of all I think you should not feel guilty, just like Seth Godin said. The feel of guilty is really bad, cause it's really holding you back. It's gonna waste your time, waste your energy thinking something that can't be repeat.
Secondly, you just need to analyze about what's really happening right now and think about what decision you can make
