This isn't a parody. This is how it really is no exaggeration. I can't even laugh at this because it's so sad. Thanks Nurse Blake for hitting it right on the head.
💯
What she said ^ D:
i can't even find places that are hiring new nurses nonetheless offering pay raises. one of the places i applied to actually lost two of my job applications and deserves a big red flag. unfortunately, i am unable to relocate due to rare, life threatening medical problems. 🤬, 🤬, and double 🤬🤬
100%
Same.
My favorite line_ "PPE...I don't even know what that is." 🤣🤣This is spot on. Upper management is clueless about what we actually do.
I heard the medical director at my hospital say he didn't know what we should wear to protect ourselves at the beginning of Covid. .......I knew then......
"Also, there's cheap pizza in the breakroom. There won't be any left for nightshift, and anyone who eats it will have an upset stomach for a week."
"We got it for free."
Sadly…as a night shifter…we will grab a piece of the stale pizza from day shift, wrap it in a paper towel..and gnaw on the crust sometime around 2am for sustenance..and pray we don’t break a tooth.
Truth!! 🤪
So true
Omg, is everyone getting free pizza!? My hospital lied to me...
Not even stale pizza leftover for us night shifters where I work. 😏
Oh, how I wish you would have added, "Now, let's go TEAM!" AS IF the "higher-ups" actually were performing direct patient care and helping nurses and other staff members on the floors...such a slap in the face...!!!!
Pop
“We ArE aLl In ThIs ToGeThEr!” 🙄
Yep 🤢🤮
Exactly!!!
Sitting and recording in his living, miles away from any cooties.
@@Bklyntransplant So True!!! 🤣
Omg, how did u know? I loved high school musical too.
Have been a nurse for 50 years and this was spot on,through AIDS, legionaires disease always shirt staffed ,underpaid, and raises below cost of living . Get 10 hours work done in 8 no overtime clock out for lunch, but work though to stay on top of your day . Hospitals get bigger, fancy all the bells and whistles but not enough staff to answer call lights 😕
HR to me, a 37 year "veteran": "You don't get a raise because you're topped out in the pay scale. It only goes so far." Me: "Who determines the pay scale?" HR: "Um..corporate" Me: " so...you're telling me, essentially, that you can't pay me more because you say you can't?" HR: "ummm" (this really happened)
Omg, LOL!!!! If that is a true story it’s comedy gold. 😂😂😂😂

You guys get cheese sticks??
You know only Day shift is going to get 1 Lifesaver per person. By the time us Night shift nurses roll in, we’re going to have to share the dusty one that fell behind the cabinet not only with our unit, but also with three other floors.
The lifesavers was a nice touch. I can just see senior management high fiving over how that is exactly the message we are going for.
our health system actually did the life saver thing, but you had to be nominated to get them
25 years of hospital based nursing, multiple administrators. This is absolutely spot on! And I’ve shared it with all of my nurse peeps! Love Nurse Blake! We need his humor right now.
I’m literally seconds in and dying. The name of the hospital. 💀
David. Coming to us from the humble comfort of his living room (bigger than my whole apartment in Boston, that costs 50% of my take home pay) 😂😂😂
@nurseblake should do a nursing thank you to hospital admins, thanks for allowing us to get inoculation before vaccination with no PPE, thanks for taking all that PTO off our hands, thanks for lobbying to Congress for travel nurse pay caps, and letting healthcare worker abuse bills die in Congress. Thanks for teaching us hard work and when we complain teaching us to get a better attitude. Thanks for showing us that we should be lucky to get paid at all by refusing Bonuses or hazard pay. There’s just too much to say thanks for….
lol my boston apartment is a similar percentage of my pay and I have roommates!!
😂 I was about to google the name of the hospital 😂
@@feeq6001 nooooo 😂💀💀💀
Travel nurse pay caps… and trapping the staff nurses who’ve stuck it out for long enough from quitting but not raising their salary either...
I thought I was the only one. The hospital name had me! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
At my facility, they occasionally have "staff appreciation lunches". The food isn't half bad.... If you can take the time to get any. It doesn't seem to have occurred to the administration that serving lunch to the staff at the same time as the patients creates what you might call a conflict of interests.
They set out a staff appreciation brunch for us last week. The only people I saw with donuts/coffee were in suits 🤔
"When you go to the cafeteria to get your free Christmas Day meal, please sign the sheet by the door so we will know everyone only went through the line once." (really happens like this)
It is so sad and true. They don't even want us to have extra food.
yes and that's a good year
It does 😂
“ We bought 3 day old cupcakes and last years Halloween candy in the breakroom to show our gratitude !” 😑
😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, and please sign for that candy bar so middle management can prove to upper management that they only gave out one per employee.
"Until further notice we are closing the cafeteria to our staff and focusing on patients only."
...."To show our appreciation we have fruit in the cafeteria for this day only, all staff is welcome"
......... 8 day old bananas. You're welcome.
This video is gold.
not the old bananas lol
Our hospital is doing this! 🤣
@@ashleysanden9049 us too- literally this
Yup. As a covid nurse I can appreciate how real this is. Don't even get hazard pay here. Barely even a thank you.
Thanks for keeping us alive.
Spot on! From HEROES WORK HERE to PIZZA PARTIES and everything in between. Nurses got treated like crap during this pandemic. Glad to see them rising up and fighting back!!!
But at least you still had a job....😂😂😂😂 That line got me.
I was shocked during the pandemic they thought nurses loved their jobs 🤣
This reminds me of an SNL sketch but honestly Blake you nailed this! Somebody get this man on SNL to be their guest host!
It's the seated position, the upbeat music, and the "genuine thank you" for meeeee 😂😂😂😂😂😂 YOU'RE PERFECT!
Blake, aside from the video I really do want to say thank you so so much for risking your safety to make sure people are cared for. I really do appreciate you and all hospital staff. Watching my mom who's an RN struggle really shows us how lucky we are to have such loving and caring nurses who are pushed to their limits on a regular basis. Thank you and please stay safe.
If I thought the administration of my hospital was capable of understanding irony, I'd show this to them. Thanks for the laugh, Blake. I needed it.
This is so true! I'm not a nurse, but I am a healthcare worker (Emergency Prepardeness Coordinator) who had to deal with the burocracy daily. I had to try to explain why we needed to supply up on the rare occasion when we could get supplies. It was always "But we need to stay on budget." Yeah, but no one budgeted for a pandemic. I shed many tears! Love your videos!
Oh my gosh… this hits the mark on so many levels
As soon as I saw Nurse Blake in the hospital CEO suit, I knew this was gonna be good. And it did not disappoint! 😂😂
Wish this wasn't so accurate. At least we have Nurse Blake to keep us smiling.
Our CEO didn’t give up his bonus, he bought an island. 😂😂😂🤣
AAAAAAAGGHHHHHHH!
So true man! All the managers disappeared during covid after they cordoned off my hall and had the maintenance guy put up some plastic, never saw them again for a year!! Not the doctors either! Us nurses and aides did it all alone, scared, and totally unsure of what to do.
It’s the hand gestures for me! 🤣💀
This isn't a parody. This is truth!
😂 sounds like Mary Barra, CEO of GM. I
worked in occupational health for GM at the beginning of the pandemic. Nursing was furloughed at 75% pay to “help absorb costs.” They brought us back a month later at 85% pay (working) for 4 months, dealing with autoworkers who made more staying home, pissed off about coming back. I went back to the bedside to care for veterans in the hospital. So glad I did! ❤
We got a mini size Kind bar to thank us for our Kindness. They couldn’t even give us the full size 😒
For those "little bits" of kindness you spread throughout the unit.
I literally took a lifesaver from a thank you snack cart this week 😂
At least you get a snack cart. I didn’t even get that
@@ccalexander1924 same, we don't even get the pizza everyone jokes about 😂... not that I want it. Please give me my pizza in the form of CASH, thank you!
CEO of st marys university sacred.. I can’t ! Cracked me up real time
“Vacations are expensive. I mean look at you.. where would you go?”
Idk why but this made me laugh then sad
I'm a Certified Veterinary Technician so I see the animal side of nursing and it's still accurate
Same 😂😂😂
I'm a lab tech (not a nurse), but this is pretty accurate in the lab, too.
It’s sad how true this is. Literally working at a facility that collects $7000k plus a month from patients, and is too cheap to spend money on staffing agencies (for our short staff), kitchen has to save/ reuse food, and our nurse appreciation gifts came from the dollar store obviously (yet, HR got things from H&M). Can’t give us a bonus or raise, yet has the money for these big tvs in front of the time clock for announcements! Families literally have to bring in every single resident supply for care; there’s not a single thing the facility provides for patient care.
Another sad case of profit over people in healthcare.
"PPE , I don't even know what that is" 🤣🤣
You forgot to include "Remember, we're all in this together."
Haha 😆😆😆 hilarious...as I debate going into work this evening. Short staffed yesterday...my back, legs and right hip is in serious pain. I needed this... Thanks Blake!!!
This is so true, that's the sad part. Management honestly thinks they are doing such a great job by providing pizza that is always gone for the night shift. Like all the extra hours under horrible conditions with faulty equipment will all be forgotten with a slice of the cheapest pepperoni pizza available!!!
We appreciate you so much and admire your skills and talents...we will generously allow you to float to 3 different units of the hospital today. You won't know a damb thing about any of 20 or so patients you will be caring for, but we know you've got this.
At the hospital cooperation that I work for the hourly paid nurses got a nice retention bonus but the salary nurses got nothing :(. I already spend at least 9 hr days there with a working lunch and apparently I am not a valued employee that hung in there during this pandemic. Thank you to the "sweetest place on earth."
Same at our hospital! I worked 23yrs at the bedside and EARNED that position 1 month before COVID. And took a pay cut because it wasn’t at the beside. SMDH!
Hilarious, got me laughing for the first time in two years. Think you managed to ease my PTSD and anxiety attacks - I might actually sleep tonight. I agree with Patty Gail, hard to laugh though because it is so ridiculously true and absurd. While we were still battling to get paid from the Kronos hack in December, our CEO installed a Tesla charging station and announced yet another healthcare merger. Makes me want to get out the torch and pitchfork. No amount of money is worth the abuse anymore. I'm leaving the hospital for home health after 20 years.
I am still overworked, still short staffed, and all of this is still true. Was before covid and still is.
Oh my...this parody is THE best ! Blake you are so talented...thank you ❤
The same for inner city teachers only we aren’t even appreciated at all. Ever. I love nurses. You all rock!! ❤️🥰
“PPE I don’t know what that is” LMAO 😂😂😂😂
Wow...lifesaver candies....not even 🍕....how the mighty have fallen.
If I hear the word "unprecedented" one more time....
Amen…from an RN. 👩⚕️
You forgot to add "If you choose to decline those calls for overtime, we can fire you. But don't forget, we're a family!"
The VRBO ad that came on during your presentation was priceless!
“But please, only take 1…”😆
The "unprecedented times" gets me every time 😂😂😂
I work critical care and this is true. All of it. You brought a smile to my face☺️
so true.
if we don't stand up for ourselves, no one else will. ... Please, write/message/contact your lawmakers about safe staffing regulations -- for the country -- and about the proposal for a salary-cap for travel nurses! Do your part to make the public aware, as well.
We went from heroes to zeros really quickly! We need a nationwide nurses walk out!
Nailed it. The reason that facilities are short staffed is because the big wigs don't want to pay to hire more staff or even properly pay the staff that they have the money that they deserve. They care more about rolling around in their money like scrooge mcduck than they do about their staff or patients. Everyone is out on strike now but nothing is changing. Thank you for telling the truth with humor.
I took 3 of the free lifesavers today during rounds.
Lifesavers in the break room 🤣😭🤣
and I thought it was just Advent Health. 🤣
Omg how accurate! Definitely had a little chuckle out of this one, as always!
Thank you Blake. This is the reality. The public has no idea
I got 100 hours of pto based on hours worked in less than a year but can’t use them all requests denied. Thanks for the pizza however. We are blessed to be able to sell those hours back at 50% pay.
Oh my gosh, the CEO of my hospital is a David 😂💀
The spray tan is on point.
Oh wow, not sure how I feel about this, it is a little too close to home! We recently had management tell us that we were going to get extra breaks because of issues with dehydration during our shifts, with the extra PPE we have to wear. I was trying to figure out HOW that was going to happen, since we didn't get the breaks we were supposed to get in the first place??!! A whole lot of my colleagues had something to say about this so they offered us counselling. Sigh. No wonder health care workers are leaving the industry, just saying.....
I love thissssssssssssss. Wonderful job Nurse Blake. I died laughing. Awesome job
I wanted to laugh, but the parallels that this was just made me realize being a traveler is the only way to survive being a nurse now. If you’re thinking about traveling, this is your sign to do it.
This is also basically what the CEO said in response to the blizzard sexual harassment lawsuit. Man my former job really parallels to nursing a lot.
“But at least you still had a job….” LOL
What is Nurse Becky's take on this? 😅
Yes please!!!
NAILED IT!! 💯💯💯
Oh my gosh! This is perfect!! So sad because it's so true.... we might as well laugh about it because what else are we going to do?
Unionize!!
Can’t wait to March on Washington when they cut travel pay!
PPE “ I don’t even know what that is” 😂😂😂
Blake but you forgot about those wonderful gifts they give us. You know the plastic cup with our hospital name, the pens and that high end tote bag made of recycled materials!
I am an RN! Love this parody 😄
You're so pure!soo much love from India❤️
I love your channel. Makes me smile.
That is the REALLITY in Nurses 'world. Thanks man....
Thanks nurse Blake.. l following u from turkey .. İTS not a parody .. its our Real life .. I hope one day they realize the value of us nurses..hi from turkey intensive care unit nurses ❤️❤️😊😊😊
Blake is a fool! 😂😂 I had to give up my bonus last year and rent my home to "regular" people. But remember nurses, only take 1 lifesaver from the break room. This is your thank you from the big big boss...Nurse David (Blake) 😂😂
"Sure, I hear you" 🤣😂😭
This was amazingly spot on 😂
To show our appreciation we will remember to order test strips for your glucometer! No more trying to reuse test strips!
😱😨
boy, you nailed it! No wonder Nurses are leaving in droves...
Its the "I hear you" for me... hit the nail on the head.... 🙄😭
Thank you Blake youare spot-on!
The patient died waiting for you to finish the hospital name.😜
CEO: 1.5M annually. Safe staffing, tho? Nah
Also can you pick up tomorrow? No bonus! 😂
Ironically, I didn't work during the pandemic due to a different medical condition. I'm going back to work next month.
It's the hospital name for me🤣🤣🤣🤣
The accuracy!!!
Omg that’s Bretts voice in the intro. I will miss y’all’s podcast forever 💕
This is so accurate I can’t stop laughing 🤣🤣.
