- Опубліковано 28 кві 2023
- In this episode, we are finishing some final tasks on project Chicago, supercharged Alpina B7. We refurbish the complete brakes, replace rear subframe bushings, rear ball joints and integral links, and polish the high gloss window trim. After that, Alpina goes on a lie detector (dyno).

Splendid results with Alpina, undoubtedly the world's finest B7 in existence today
...And ever existed
Might be worth putting it in a museum
Youd be surprised how many undocumented B7s are out there.
Better than when new, no doubt.
@@y2ksierra brand new, it had bad paint job. So the words can't be more true.
Question: Why this man doesn't have at least 500K subs by now?
Considering this is trully one man operation and Sreten's videos are on another level when it comes to content, editing and no unrelated promotion of hair growth products or whatever, he simply deserves to reach that number and beyond.
Not everyone can watch a guy disassemble, repair and assemble a car that 99.9% of subscribers will not own. That's not his fault, just that's the type of content that not everyone like watching. No bangs, no whistles, no explosions, you know😂😂
haha shots fired at Alex.
Not enough drama involved I suspect, nor click bait thumbnails. As much as I want this channel to grow to new and fantastic heights, I hope it’s never at the expense of Sreten having to sell out and join the click bait culture.
In my opinion, the young generation are more interesting about extreme tuning, looks and a tons of horse power. Only the people like me and you, ho enjoy extremly about the old cars to came to a second life with specs and look like from factory are the target for this chanel.
Because this channel does not have the crazy hyper camera shots and transitions and cliffhangers etc. This is pure automotive restauration documentary. It takes a real enthousiast to recognize the pureness of this channel, and we love it.
Whoever buys this car will appreciate the time and effort that went into the final finish. Now, I just need a poster of this masterpiece.
But when was the last time we saw Sreten sell a car? I swear he's opened a series of Air BnB 's across Frankfurt where you get to sleep in the boot of a Bimmer for a night. 😂
A poster would do this car justice!!
Eine gute Idee! Mach doch bitte ein paar Wallpapers zum herunterladen. Danke!
When you zoomed in on that unknown BMW in your parking lot you made my entire day.
Lol, mine as well 😂
Best looking Bimmer to date.
The scream at the G80 M4 got me rolling :D
29:21 the way the pad landed perfectly in that box
I honestly feel like this car should be a museum show piece, absolutely stunning inside and out. I'm so glad to have watched this project through since the start, hard to believe this is even the same car from Chicago. Always excited for more projects, keep up the work.
chicago*
Maybe that's what will happen, perhaps it'll end up with Harry Metcalfe, or Jay Leno, or even Alpina themselves possibly.
@@MBS.. not sure how i messed that one up
I’m almost happy things didn’t go as planned because I don’t want this project to end it’s my absolute fav.
The scream when you see the G82. Exactly what goes through my mind.
Came to comments to say THE FUCKING SCREAM 🤣🤣
A face only a mother could love 😅
Came looking for this comment, I lol'ed HARD. Right after his excitement for the musical note:
Same as me
NGL it looked boss af
I was just about to order some non OE/OEM parts, when I got the email that an M539 video had gone up… and I remembered to stay classy - stay OEM.
Hehe, true :D
With parts, you ALWAYS get what you pay for! Stay classy my guy!
Without youtube revenue, for me sometimes Febi is the best compromise for my E39. It has not let me down much yet so far 😄.
That Home Alone scream when filming the new BMW made my day. Thank you
The results are better than factory. What a beautiful result. I think the video adds value to the car....nothing is missed.
I have to be really honest, as i like watching every minute of your videos with all of my heart, the 21:00 is one of my favourite part so far.
The look of that car is kind of growing on me...
This project challenged you most likely harder than any before, but it also really took your experience to the highest level. In all your UA-cam presence, you've always been highly skilled, but after all this time, the only right thing to say is this: you truly are an expert and a professional. It doesn't matter that this isn't what you've learned in school or university. You are the living proof that learning by doing can equally get you this far if you are determined and put all your energy in it.
You may not be a BMW certified service partner and you may not always have the official BMW tools for everything, but it's the outcome that counts, and it is as good as it can get.
I really hope the guys from ALPINA will get to see this masterpiece as well, you deserve all the attention. Thank you for all of this, you are a big inspiration for so many out there, and I am sure your input has helped many people out there to solve their own problems and maybe for some also to work on their own cars.
Amen Brother!!!
As a typographer, I note that the ALPINA letter spacing is not meant to be evenly spaced. Letter spacing very rarely is. (Aka Kerning in typespeak or fontspeak). The way you've placed them on the boot-trunk lid makes the word looked cramped in the middle. If you refer to the TIS exapmple you had on screen at 46:00, the I has a little more space either side of it to give it better visual weight and visual evenness compared to the A and the L. Sometimes you have to rely on your eye not the ruler. Hard, I know, for such a man of measured perfection as yourself.
I've also worked in this area in the past and the "I" instantly made an impression to me that it doesn't sit that good (it has to breathe). I don't think that changes the fact that the car is perfect though
As a 3d modeler I couldn't agree more, there's a saying 'when it looks right it is right' - applies to a model as well as letter spacing. I noticed the same when the "I" was placed.
I just saw this comment, thank you! To be honest, the "I" didn't look right to me either when I placed it, but in my head, it made sense to evenly space them out. Once you step back, it doesn't look that out of place, but good to know for the next time.
Really happy to see this underrated generation of 7 series being appreciated this much
I am disproportionately excited about the visit to Alpina and I can't even explain why.
Same here, those guys wouldn't know what hit them, they'll never see a B7 in that shape ever in their life again.
best than any netflix show hands down
Alpina should buy this car from you and put it in a (their) museum, it's that well done!
Yay! 6:56 Vixen Aquablast Therapy!
9:25 2-3 Layers! 😅
10:42 We are Men!
12:22 before and after shot therapy!
19:56 Ladies and Señoras! 🤣
30:19 Ahh...the eccentric millionaire! 🤣
Excellent Episode!
21:01 best moment ever:)
Love the endless pursuit of perfection and battle with entropy. One question: does anyone else think the steering wheel logo looks a bit like a Window 95 logo?
If all cars were treated by people like you, we would have art driving on our roads.
I think that nobody would have ever thought that such a perfect alpina b7 would still exists up to this date, keep up the good work👍👍
Is the before & after results that are mind-blowing specially if all operations would be made inside Alpina service for example..
I'm curious how they will welcome Sreten when they will meet..
Matthias is excellent - he organized getting my AC Cobra from Spain to the US. Top job and highly recommended
Alpina B7 saga could easily go to a movie. Those cult movies 12 hours long. The best part of this car if I have to choose will definetily go to the rims. Nothing like a big classic sedan with steroids only shown in the legs. Cheers from Buenos Aires, Argentina. We will wait for you anytime with an asado.
You took a timex and turned it into a rolex. Very sweet ride now.
This project was extremely challenging and you've definitely ran into difficult moments and decisions regarding it's future. Nonetheless, the most remarkable part of the story is that you've never give up on the car and managed to transform all the problems stemming from that project into new learning points. Excellent - keep it up bro!
What a journey this project has been. Seeing him persevere through all the problems and end up with this result is so satisfying.
Nothing makes me happier than an episode from this channel in a holiday night! Pure pleasure.
"We don't need instructions - we're men!" ❤
Honestly this thing needs to go to an alpina museum
I love your videos! As a detailer, I'm so grateful you accounted for the time in perfecting the trim pieces. It is so difficult for customers to comprehend what it takes to pursue perfection. The difference between 90% and 100% is enormous. Kudos to you!
you cant get this good of entertainment from paying to go see a movie at a movie theater, and here we are getting all of this wonderful content for free from the comfort of our own dojo's.
a quick tip from one (allegedly) professional automotive detailer to another, when polishing most surfaces (painted, solid plastic as in the window trim that you did) you can sometimes see even better results if you start at a slow speed on the polisher, work your way up to high speed, and then finish with another slow speed pass. even on DA polishers this can provide an even more uniform final finish. not knocking your method, just a little tidbit of info that you may find useful in the future :)
i used to hate how this version of the 7 looked, you have converted me it’s a beautiful big machine. i remember when you got it and when the first engine failed i kept thinking you made a massive mistake. Well done you have really turned it into a masterpiece.
The attention to detail is on another level, extremely impressive, gold standard of UA-cam restoration videos imo.
US 93 equals 98 octane that we use in europe. Idk what bullshit that dyno guy was talking about. US 91 is EU 95….. the different mapping is probably related to emissions and not the fuel. My mustang is eu spec, looses 14 horse powers due to eu emissions. And that is on EU 98
The end result is just stunning, incredibly gorgeous. I'm so glad I could share this journey with you, from the other side of the monitor. It's been one hell of a ride, that is for sure!
That rear decklid looks so much better than OEM.
if I had a magnificent car like that I would only take it out on the street on sunny days on weekends and always leave it clean in the garage covered with a proper cape. it's a gem.
That scream at the new BMW 😂
I’m just slow clapping, your vigor and endurance on this project has been nothing short of heroic. Automotive perfection
Through the power of empathy, we all feel like we have worked so much on this car. Kudos to you on never giving up; on so many occasions!
There will be a whole M539 collectors group 50yrs from now. As in, all “his” cars will be worth a lot. Rightfully so.
Thank you for the torque figures now added on the screen! I really appreciate it! I am only concerned that you will burn out now doing even more editing work! Please stay sane, Streten, we need you!
My excitement when i saw that you uploaded a new video is not measurable. The quality is superb. Please never stop making these.
After project get completed, I would put the car in a museum.
50:57 "Racing Hearts". Love the 80's retro music.
This one should be put in a museum! Amazing, simply amazing!
Sretens museum...or a galery 💪
This has been the most insane saga. Well done!
In order to watch this video. I have have clean my monitor with screen cleaner and micro fiber towel so that my monitor can have a mirror finish. I also use the same towel to clean my glass so that I can have a prefect visual. I am considering to purchase a better monitor to watch video on this channel. Finally, this is and will be the best restoration of B7 ever.
That last 15 minutes or so bit brought me to happy tears...goddammit this project went deep...but what a HUGE satisfaction this one brings. That being said, watching the ending wearing a m539 hoodie tops it off.
So good looking👌 Great episode as always!
The scream at the intruder 😂😂😂
I don't normally like the E66, like the majority of people, but this, in this configuration is jaw droppingly hot to look at. Amazing work you did! Love it!
The E65 sold better than the E38.
What a journey this was. Can't believe there are 18 episodes already. Enjoyed every second of it. Good time as any to come out with total cost (minus the car itself) estimations. I guess around 65k€
As always, magical and fascinating work. Your knowledge and dedication makes me envious.
As a former E39 owner I share your passion,. As a retired IT guy you make me wish I had followed my instincts at the beginning of my career
So, in some ways, your adventures allow me to relive my youth.
What an outstanding car, hats off to you for a magnificent job!
''On a lie detector'' I'm rolling on the floor laughing 🤣🤣
Hold on work, I’ll be back in 1 hour.
But for real.
Coming back to this video for the 4th time just to appreciate the perfection achieved here.
Amazing effort and attention to detailed Streten, can’t wait for the E92 M3 project 😊
I think a UA-camr is the only one that could have saved this thing. It would have bankrupted any normal person. 😂
Excellent work keep it up 👍
The new torque animation is so🔥🔥🔥
0:34 Woah! Seeing a second gen Ford F150 Lightning in Germany is a wild sight!
Probably the nicest B7 on the planet
From 2:15
I'm going to pass out just by looking at that shining beauty,
I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING THAT PERFECT
The lengthy restoration makes the car look better than new, So great to see another modern classic being revived and has to be the finest example today well done 👍
I CAN'T believe You do not water blast knuckle!?!? ;) You work is an ART!!
I'm not entirely sure how easy it would be with someone everyday who is this.... Let's say "particular" but it makes for good videos.
Beautiful car.
Wow. Just,… wow. It feels bitter sweet seeing this saga come to close. Maybe another long running drama to interspace into your other projects would be fun!🙂
This project is amazing; thank you for the content!!!
Well everyone….this has been one hell of a journey for this project and it’s been brilliant.
That the engine appears to be governed down by the US spec ECU might be a blessing in disguise - it's had a relatively easy time to break in nicely.
Sreten really made me want an E65 this bad… And I hate that generation so much… What a man! Hats off to you sir
Such an amazing car! The wood interior trim looks so much better than the previous!
What an amazing restoration. The finish product is superb. 👏
I love that he just casually went like 150MPH+ lol - what a beast of a machine
“HELLO BALLJOINT!! Your balljointing days are over!!”😂classic.
Congratulations on seeing this project through to completion. The pursuit of perfection is a long and arduous journey. Thank you for bringing us along for the ride.
I said before... I am not a fan of BMW... But your work and the results are just WOW... Congrats...
A Project Binky and Project Chicago video getting released on the same day?😍 The stars have aligned!
Oh yes !
That vapor blaster seriously is the best equipment you have.
Despite the steering knuckles not getting vapor blasted, this level of attention to detail is absolutely fantastic. It is most deflating that it requires being able to have a full time detailer along with the gardner, pool maintainer, and zookeeper on staff.
I liked the assorted skin on your phone with the dashboard wooden trim 🎉❤
Overall a tremendously job done! Congratulations
Wow Sreten, this car is a jewel, it'll be hard to let go.
Who ever is gonna buy this one, is gonna be a lucky bastard.
Buying cars from you is a better experience than from a brand dealership, the car is now on another level compared to its original delivery standard. 👌
21:00 That scream...
It's everything I thought when I first saw those new grills. What an aberration.
Your attention to detail, knowledge of what needs doing and how to do it is insane (great), it reminds me of an entirely different project, but equally insane, called “Project Binky”. Keep up the good work.
Absolutely a piece of art, you are a BMW perfectionist to the max. Absolutely amazing!!
I couldn't drive the car with such perfect paint. Looks like it belongs in a museum.
As an owner of an E30 2 E46 sedans and previously owned E38 and E60 manual this is my favorite channel in the entire you tube universe. You have got my passion for wrenching reignited and have learned So much. THANK YOU. And you have saved me a world of misery. I actually had a test drive scheduled on a nice B7 of this exact spec. Have since canceled and will never think of that ever again. You are tremendous Keep up the life saving work.
You should keep it! The Alpina turned out so great 🙌
Man Project Chicago becomes Project the Young and the Restless with 1584 episodes ))) good job
Great work Sreten! Its in an immaculate condition. So much work put into this beast, mechanically and cosmetically. The only thing I would consider doing now is dry ice the underside. And then sell it to someone who will really take care of it. Fingers crossed you still make a (little) profit.
There's no way he would make profit on project car, I hope he never sells it
Alpina should buy this from you (for a tremendous amount of money) and put it in a museum.. :)
"WE ARE MEN!" - Absolutely brother!
Perfect start to the long weekend! Man I love this old Alpina. I actually think it's better than new now, breathtaking work 😎
Everything Sreten touches turns to gold! Beautiful work and very impressive camera work! Loving the high quality!
Sreten's réaction about beaver face m4. Priceless!
Ein äußerst akkurater und sehr sauberes Bauen. Größter Respekt. Enjoy your beer!!!
Such a wonderful finish to a troubled Project Chicago. It has now become a showroom vehicle, that’s quite a journey for this Alpina. As always, your editing and camera work is outstanding, Sreten. Thank you for bringing us along on this fantastic journey, I can’t wait to see what you do with the other projects. Take care of yourself, my friend.
Better then new. The car looks AMAZING. All of the troubles you went through with this car I think have payed off. Awesome work as always, Sreten you are the best.
I'm so proud and happy for this process! As it was my own achievement. Best youtube channel by far!
That body kit is perfection
