  • 600 miles on the clock so time for the first oil and filter change. In true Simon style it didn’t all go exactly to plan but I got there in the end and learnt some new tricks.

    Thanks for the excellent video.
    I have the 200 version and it is the same procedure.
    The access is a bit awkward and I burned my hand slightly on the hot exhaust.
    I managed to loosen the filter with the tips of my filter pliers and fitted a hex k & n to make the job easier next time.

      Hi Scootyman, funny enough I had a Honda Vision previously too.
      I decided I wanted an extra 10mph cruising, hence the Aprilia 200 purchase.

      @@kennethdownie8961 thats pretty much the same for me Kenneth. I love the Vision and I’ve kept it for a winter bike when I’m taking it a little easier, but the 200 excels at that. Not a quick scooter in my opinion but it’s torquey and cruises nice at 50. It’s a keeper for sure.

    Just did my daughters SR GT 125 today , it was its first service also it was at 603 miles , its really easy to do all done and dusted in an hour , I used Castrol Scooter 4T 0-30 W , the part number for the oil filter is 82635R if anyone wants to order one from a dealer , the biggest pain is getting the oil filter out as it hits the exhaust , but once you remove the silencer the exhaust pipe moves enough to get the oil filter out , the oil filter I had on the bike had two protruding bits on the end of it , this allowed for a large flat head screw driver to be used to remove it , however the new one didn't , so that's been done up hand tight .

    So for oil check you must screw dipstick all the way in? Thats the opposite of other scooters and motorcycles.

  • @MrGreen-ew9ix
    @MrGreen-ew9ix 4 місяці тому

    For a small displacement scooter the oil filter is not necessary, just a pain and a profit gaining from aprilia...got bigger scoots without filter and works totally fine

    Hi mate
    Great video. You could have gone to any motorcycle retailer for the service as long as the retailer is vat registered and users genuine parts . if everything is not done by the book you've passably invalidated your warranty. Aprilia are very keen with this.
    I have a 125 sr gt sport .
    These a good chance

      Hi, glad you liked the video and of course you are quite correct regarding servicing/warranty but I enjoy doing jobs myself where I can, it’s all part of the fun of scooter ownership. Hope you are enjoying your SR GT, they’re great machines.

    This is good stuff. I got quoted £200 for my first service, horrific!! Not a chance! I can easily do my first service myself, even if it might affect the warranty. Have you adjusted the valves yet? That’s the one thing I can’t find any information on.

    • @scottishzoomer
      @scottishzoomer  Рік тому +2

      Thanks very much, oil and filter change is simple and that’s about it for the first service. I don’t think valve check is required until 5000 miles (I’d need to double check). Hopefully there will be info available by the time I reach that or I’ll just drop it into a local bike garage.

      @@scottishzoomer how did you find the information on what oil filter to use? I can’t find any information in the manual or even google. Infact I can’t find much information at all about this bike when it comes to servicing.

      @scottishzoomer  Рік тому +2

      @@HowlingWolfLeather if I remember correctly one of the guys on the SR GT Owners Facebook group told me. It takes the same size filter of the Piaggio Liberty. There are alternatives to a genuine Piaggio filter but I went with that as I wanted to use the same things the dealer would have. I agree there is very little technical info on this bike, no sign of a service manual appearing yet.

    I am lucky I guess have the 200 and a service is about $20 here in Vietnam. today i changed the gear oil as my dealer suggested to do so. Also here they change engine oil after first service every 3000km . I also replaced rear shocks with rcb and just had a YSS front fork kit huge difference in handling.

      @@noyouthrewup Both here and the Philippines RCB very popular. If you go that route make sure to check RCB videos how to set up as bit of trail and error involved to set right. Also easy to adjust for 2 up. Or different weights of riders. Lot better than stock which suck

      According to the manual the first oil and filter change is to be done at 1000km, the next at 10’000km. I intend to do them more often than that but then I’m not a high mileage user. I’ll probably do another oil/filter change around 3000km

      The sports models look great, none available in Scotland so I just went with the black/silver. Like you I love the bike.
      So this is how I’ve been told you reset the service interval (not actually done it yet):
      1) Key OFF: hold down the SET button
      2) Key ON: keep pressing the SET button
      3) When the maintenance icon blinks release the SET button
      Apparently that is it. A video is a good idea, if I can set a camera up I’ll give it a go
