Nice work, Don. I have a 1966 Fairlane door with the same problem. I bought a set of patches like you for a '67 Mustang (the parts fit identically to the Fairlane door latch). I was debating how to attach these plates and see that you pretty much did what I was planning. Your video gives me confidence to proceed. Thanks!👍
I think the plates are suppose to mount on outside? Inside looks a lot better and see how you would need to enlarge dimples to install that way. Enjoys your videos
Yeah. Manufacturing quality is dropping fast. It seems they just want it to look "something like" what you want to purchase. You know those toy wood paddles with the ball at the end of a rubber band? One hit and the rubber band breaks. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Thanks Hugh,
That’s why I make these videos, to help others. Makes it all worthwhile.
Ingenius idea to correct a problem that you shouldn't have had. A piece so simple in design should need no modifications whatsoever. Great job!
Thanks, I don’t think my standards or expectations are too high.
My work bench looks like yours. Very cluttered .
Einstein said “empty bench = an empty mind.” I’m pretty sure…
👍🤓
Youi could probably sell those plates. Great idea!

@@Chris530-65 - thank you
I thought they looked like ugly hackery on the outside.
Do you have the measurement specs on your tool that you could email

I had one of those as a kid, worked great. Not so much when my granddaughter got one for her birthday.
