With six Diamond Trophies to her name, Valerie Adams is one of the most successful athletes in Diamond League history.
Lijiao Gong may have taken up the mantle of favourite in the women's shot put in recent years, but for a long time it was New Zealand superstar Adams who provided the benchmark for all competitors.
Perhaps her finest moment of all came in 2012, when she headed to the Pietro Mennea Golden Gala in Rome in the hope of a big result. She got it, launching the shot an astonishing 21.03m to set a new Diamond League record.

I love how fluid she was out the back! Once the Shot started moving down the center of the ring it never slowed or stopped. Fantastic effort. 5/6 throws would've been good enough to win; that's dominance!!
